Suffice to say, the entertainment business is pretty sickening.
Every advertisement and show set upon us to breed a love of relativity and false morals. The two of them together a disgustingly effective marketing ploy, but with many side effects. Personally I think that it's in no small way responsible for our world that's become, if I wanted to become the captain of the understatement club, a pretty horrible place to be.
Guess I could elaborate on exactly how it's so effective if you wanted me to.

Well one of the scariest pieces of news i know about the entertainment television industry is that Viacom, one of the top (or maybe even THE top) advertising companies gave birth to MTV. MTV and all of its branches are owned, operated, and flooded with products and subliminal advertisements by Viacom. To specifically target the 12-21 age group. That scared the crap outta me.

I wouldn't know where to start. I see so many things that just blow my mind. For example, these newest adoption commercials; they show the kids and parents having problems then say that your kids suck so you should ditch them and adopt new ones. The ********?

The ******** class="clear"> I think you are missing the point. it is more there are no perfect parents/families so even you can make a difference by adopting someone and giving them a family.

What shocks me is all the sexual innuendo in prime time sitcoms. I thought prime time was supposed to be a family-friendly time when families could watch tv together! The sitcoms I used to watch when I was younger weren't nearly this raunchy. Or if they were, I don't remember it.

Not only that, but what scares me about all this sexual advertising is that the more you sexualize someone, the easier it is to dehumanize them.

I really don't like ranting, but what gets me is all the airheaded little Disney starlets (who in four years will be drug addicts forgotten by the public) that seem to be sending the message that smart people are weird, simply for the fact that they are smart. As a fairly brilliant kid myself (I'm either a budding genius or a blooming idiot...) it makes me want to punch all of my brother's friends that call me weird.

Ceasabel Not only that, but what scares me about all this sexual advertising is that the more you sexualize someone, the easier it is to dehumanize them. Which I believe is exactly their goal: create victims to cater to for political gain. Now that's more sinister than Viacom just selling us s**t we don't need or otherwise would want.
