So, you wanna be an Instructor? Well, here are a few things to know about being an Instructor at Durmstrang Institute.

1) Read the Guild Rules. You need to do so before you can make a character in the guild.

2) Make your character.
+ Restricted Names
+ Existing Wizarding Families (you should consider adding on to an already existing family, especially if our current accepting status of new families is closed. If you are adding to an existing family, please PM that member to ask if it is all right to do so.)
+ Professor Openings
+ Current House Occupants for Instructors
+ Acceptable Wand Woods and Cores List
+ Accepted Pets List
+ Face-Claim List
+ More-Than-Average List (A More-Than-Average Instructor is an instructor with more than average attributes and, sometimes, properties of a Magical Creature, but attends Durmstrang all the same. For more information on the difference between MTA and MC, you should read here. Twins count as MTA and must be requested. NOT EVERYONE CAN BE MORE-THAN-AVERAGE!)
+ Profile Skeleton

3) Wait for a crew member to review your profile.
+ Important note: Do not put yourself "Pending". Do not remove crew comment. Do not remove crew signature at the bottom of your profile once it has been pended/accepted. If you do any of the above three actions, a profile warning will be issued.
+ Title of Thread. Different titles mean different things.
+ If you wait three days and it has yet to be approved, please contact the Professor Profiles Manager.
+ Be sure to contact Professor Profile Checkers with any questions you might have.

4) When accepted, get ready to teach.
+ Classroom Updates
+ Follow Instructor Expectations

5) Teach class on your day.
+ Award and deduct points.
+ Post at least once a week.
+ Follow the List of Knowledge as closely as possible.

So there you go! That's the basic info you need to know on being an Instructor at Durmstrang!

We're pretty strict about the way a profile skeleton looks. Try to make it pretty, if you can. It's not required, but it's nice to see smile . Make sure you follow all the instructions in the parenthesis while you're putting your skeleton together and include all the information we ask for (if you want to spruce it up, feel free). Remove the parenthesis and everything in between them when you're done, please.

The Crew reserves the right to deny or accept anybody. Please make sure you follow the rules when applying.

Post this as your own thread in the Professor Profiles subforum with your character's name as the title. The crew will try very hard to get you accepted within a day or two. If it's been three days and you still haven't been accepted, PM the Professor Manager the link and they will check it out.

Do not bump your thread.

Once you've been accepted go get your classroom and office put together.

Instructor Expectations
Updated 2/2/13

Here's all the info instructors need to know.

1. Check your Updating Classroom Schedule. If you are teaching Potions for first years, second years, and third years, then you must update the Potions classrooms for those three years and their assignments. If on the schedule, Potions is on a Saturday to be updated, the Potions teacher must update all their assignments for their classes that day.

2. Assignments will be available for a week before a class change.

3. Your classrooms will stay unlocked forever.

4. Do not post new assignments outside of the time slot provided to you. If you are to update your class on a Saturday, then you must do it on a Saturday. No other day.

5. Simply post a new assignment in your class each time you update the class (if you update every Saturday, post a new assignment that Saturday for the students to do).

6. Instructor's cannot count a student late unless it is after Wednesday. It is up to the Professor if they are given a detention or lose points.

7. Instructors may do minor updates (as in answer questions or ask some to elaborate on the class) between the days of Wednesday - Friday. They must give sufficient time for students to respond before continuing.

8. Students are required to roleplay in your classroom.

9. If an instructor is teaching a class which has more than one year attending it (e.g. first years, second years, third years, etc.), they must make separate classrooms for each year in their correct subforums. The classes then must be labeled as such (e.g. Charms I, Charms II, Charms III, etc.).

10. For those teaching electives, you must have a class for third years and up and must create the classrooms starting in the Third Year Classes subforum. You will then label it as such (e.g. in the Third Year Classes subforum, you would have your Divination I, then in the Fourth Year Classes subforum, you would have your Divination II, etc.)

11. Detentions can/should be served in the instructors's office. You may give out detention to those whom you think deserve it.

12. Your first post in your classrooms must have information about your class, your House, your name, and anything else you would like to add such as a list of homework assignments and updating class time. You may use pictures and decorate it as you'd like. The Second post must contain the List of Knowledge format sent by PM to the professor.

13. Classrooms should be Normal posts and not Stickies.

14. If you would like to make an announcement to all your students via the Guild Announcements, message the Announcement Vice Captain the message that you would like to be said with the title of the PM as "Announcements".

15. Professors must post all points awarded/deducted in this thread. Please award/deduct points by fives (e.g. 5, 10, 15, 20, etc.).

16. If you - the instructor - will be absent for a long period of time, please post here so we can find you a suitable substitute until you return.

17. If you can’t become a professor any longer PM the Instructor Manager about it. Do not just up and leave. We need to know if we need to replace you.

18. Remember that, at the end of the year, you will be evaluated by your students. Poor performance ratings may result in staff removal.

19. If a student is absent (they PM you, come in to your office, have a personal character plot that prevents them from attending class, or posts in the absence thread), you have the choice to allow them to redo the lesson on a later date, whether in the same year or not.

20. Instructors cannot edit the Lesson plans or the List of Knowledge without specific permission from the Instructor Manager.

21. If your instructor has a student in your class that also belongs to you, you may not immediately answer questions which award house points. You must wait at least 24 hours before attempting to answer the question (assuming no one else has).

22. Add [Instructor Manager] as your friend when you have completed reading this.

If you have any questions, PM the Instructor Manager. They are your supervisor.
