This has been something I've wanted to do for a while now, and I'm thinking I migiht actually start. I might write a book. My current title idea is "Mormons and Minotaurs~Seeing Doctorine in World Mythology"
Perhaps I should explain.
I've always been a bit of a mythology buff. Greek particullarly. Those stories about vengeful immortals and demigod heroes always fascinated me and still do. Some churches condem these tales as paganism. I on the other hand, find my testimony has been strengthened by these stories. When dissected, you find little chunks of basic Church doctorine inside these tales. Little threads that remind you that "the Spirit of Christ is given to every man..." and that maybe somehow these myths were given as inspiration to help pave the way for the gospel to come forth.
What do you think? Should I try it? If I get an overwhelming positive response I may even write a bit and post it here for you guys to read.

I think that it sounds like an interesting idea, but that at the same time as a book you're most likely to get bit in the butt because many of those legends are full of things that we don't believe in. Multiple gods, oracles, magic, demons etc.

Yeah...I'd have to play it careful there.
And this wouldn't be written from the perspective of "clearly these myths are real" it would be written from the perspective of "Oh look! This sounds like this other thing!"
It's all about connections. They fascinate me. We learn that the Spirit can speak to people even without them having it bestowed upon them. It did so with our Founding Fathers. To me, these myths act as evidence to that fact. There are tidbits of truth in there, like parables. They're just covered up. It's not scripture, but I would go so far as to possibly call it revelation. I'll write up a brief page-long example and post it here soon.
