Hey guys, so I just wanted some opinions from some wiccan/pagan fellows.
I was wondering what you guys believe happens after we die?
I know alot of people believe in the Summerland, that your spirit goes there after you die.
I personally believe in reincarnation, and think that we live 3 lives before our spirit can finally leave Earth. Thats why there are ghosts, they're earth-bound and have to stay on the Earth until they finish what they are supposed to accomplish.
And then after your spirit lives it's 3 lives, I'm not sure.. I think I believe that it goes to some place thats too massive for human minds to comprehend and understand.
So what do you guys believe?

Just a note, that "Wiccan/Pagan" thing.... that's unnecessary. It implies that these terms are interchangeable, and the latter encompasses the former anyway. Given that I don't think there are any Wiccans in this guild anyway, why do that?

Why three lives? Just curious on what led you to that number.

Netherworld/s. Also reincarnation. And there are parts of the Underworld here, in barrow mounds and mountains, so that's an option.

Funnily enough I never believed in a "Summerland". It always seemed far too indistinct to me, too..... gauzy. Whereas the Underworld was clearly a place that existed and that one could travel to if one had the knack.

Not sure. 3 is like the magic number,
and it just stood out to me.
Also, you know how people say that everyone has a "soul mate"?
I think that your spirit, and the spirit of your soul mate are both one.
And you are with that person in every 3 lives you live.
Then, after your 3 lives you join together wherever you go.
Haha. I thought all of this up in just one night ^^

I believe in reincarnation too, and that after we've gone through several lives, (maybe however many it takes to learn what ever it is we are supposed to learn in this world) we pass on to some sort of afterlife. Or maybe we stay in an afterlife for a while in-between lives.
I don't know what the Summerlands are, so I can't comment on that.

On the subject of soulmates... hmm, I think we meet the some of the same people again and again in previous lives, so people who were close in past lives tend to find each other again. But I don't believe that soulmates share one soul; I think everyone has a separate soul of their own, just as everyone has their own personality.

Wicca and Pagan are NOT interchangeable terms.

Well as a Wiccan, I can guarentee you I'm not going to believe the same thing as the next Wiccan. Why? Because Wicca isn't about belief.

As far as 'summerlands' goes. I balk at that term. I hate it. I've never used it.
Generally speaking, Wiccans will believe in some form of reincarnaiton. As to the specifics, that's up to them.

If you draw from the textual sources we have, the rites and rituals and the laws as contained in the Book of Shadows, then you can point to a couple of things.
1) The cycle of birth, death and rebirth is observed.
2) It is a desireable thing that if reincarnated, you might seek out the same people.
3) A resting place is preferred.
4) Ascention is a desireable goal.

None of these things dictate how they shoudl be interpreted. There is nothing to suggest or even point as to how these things are to be considered or interpreted. They are merely mentioned in passing and it can be considered that they were the linguistically restricted personal expressions of someone somewhere along the line and as such may not apply to everyone.
The thing about Wicca is, that the Mysterys are really all that matter. They are what inform the individual in a way that is unique to them. Therefore even to say, despite textual evidence that 'All Wiccans believe in reincarnation alongside their friends after a rest in the 'Summerlands' ', is a generalization that does not consider the nature of the Mysteries.

Personally, since I don't ally myself with any religion, I believe I will be reincarnated. Be it in this world/realm or not.

It is my belief that our spirits continue to reincarnate here until we have learned and experienced all that Earth has to offer. Once we have completed our explorations here we go to a place to rest and recharge while we wait for the other spirits (still unclear whether it is all other spirits or just the ones in a smaller group we are part of) to finish up. Once everyone in done we meet up there and head off to somewhere new to explore, be it another planet, universe, dimension or something beyond that. We continue this cycle of exploration, experiencing and learning there then we move on again. We do this infinitely. In between incarnations we go to the restful place for a bit, kind of like a vacation where you go home to visit and recharge before heading back to work.

I believe we reincarnate in to a next form. Not all of us are going to be humans in our next life. Depending on what type of people we were we will be changed in to an animal that reflects that past life. If you're a bad person, you become a fly for a few lives, and the such.
