Guys, this is it. I was just grounded for oversleeping, and they took me away the car. No big deal if I lived inside the town... but I live 5 miles inside a mountain neighborhood ******** far away from everything, where the bus only passes every 40 minutes or so, and my parents won't ever take me even to the very neighborhood exit, even if it's for going to college. So I need a way to wake up at 8:00 AM.

I've tried everything: getting up at 6:00 AM because it's easier for me to wake up at that time, using 3 alarm clocks at the same time including the cell phone, and programming 5 alarms to wake me up. And nothing. NOTHING!

Any ideas?

You can try using a budy or something to like wake you up if one lives closer to you, or your perents to wake you up or someone else o.O''' er... if that doesn't work i guess keep the six am thing

Water. Drink lots and lots of water before you go to bed. You'll instinctively wake up so you don't piss yourself. Lets hope you don't if you try it wink

Well. how early do you go to bed. If you stay up late obviously you will sleep in...
It is also possible that you are not getting a restfull sleep. people who don't get restful sleep often sleep in because their bodies do not feel rested. If that is the case... I hate to say it but your choices would be to get a new mattress or start going to sleep even earlier so you will get the extra time in bed that your body is asking for.
Even more so, some people are just not morning people. waking up in the morning every day is much harder for me than staying up all night, sleeping durring the day and waking up in the afternoon. heh.. If you are like me, the only thing you can do for yourself is to try relaxing more and going to bed ata much earlier time.
If you still feel you are having problems. it is a possibility that you need to see a doctor and tell him about your troubles. He might tell you exactly what I told you... but it is possible that he will be able to give you some medication to help you get more restfull sleep.

Like Wir3dLain said, you may need to go to bed earlier or find a way to get better rest.

Aside from that, the kinds of foods and drinks you eat up to 3 hours before you go to bed can affect how well you sleep and even if you can go to sleep. The same goes for exercise, or the lack there of. If you exercise regularly (atleast 15 mins every other day, but preferably every day), then your body will feel more in tune and ready for a night's rest. On top of that it has been proven that people who regularly exercise get a better quality of sleep without having to spend big bucks on a new matress. They have also found it is easier to wake up by a certain time.

So maybe if you don't already get regular exercise, you can start doing that. it doesn't have to be like going to a gym or serious weight lifting either. Start paying attention to what you eat and do in the few hours before you go to bed. Maybe something you are eating or doing is keeping you up.

Other than that, you can try what others have suggested: Have someone come physically wake you and make sure you stand up out of and away from your bed. One thing I have done is I pout my alarms out of arm's reach so I have to sit up or even get up out of bed to turn them off. That way, I'm less likely to lay back down and go back to sleep.

I have problems getting up in the morning as well. I have to be up by 6:30, because I hafta be out the door at 7:30. I usually set my alarm for 5:00 and then every nine minutes I get up to hit the snooze button.

My alarm is across the room from me, and thus I have to get up to turn it off. Where's yours? It might help to place it farther away, so you're not like my sister. We have to drag her out of bed, because she just turns the alarm off.

Try not to eat or drink anything with caffeine in it after 5 or so in the afternoon. That way you're more tired.

I'd also suggest not eating right before bed, and excersizing often.

This way, you'll want to sleep earlier, and get up earlier.

Set your bed time back, maybe hit the hay around 9 or 10?

And then, all I can say, is get used to a schedule. My method works for me...though it annoys the entire household.

My father bought a trucker's alarm, because I used to sleep through my own. And he'd hide it in my room, so that once I heard it, I then had to search my room to find it. Once I found it, I was up. Maybe you could do something like that?

well heres my system if its of any use, I have 3 alarms on beside my bed, one on my computor on the far side of my room and, the third on the oppisite side of my room. Also I have my coffee maker on auto the smell of helps to wake me (also its very noisy as it brews). If I am awake past 2am I just dont bother sleeping because then it whould be hard to wake up. even all this has failed me once or twice though its really hard to wake up some mornings =_=

I'm not a morning person either. Is there someone you live with that could wake you up? I need to get my mum to wake me because if I just used an alarm I would just sleep right through it.

like someone else said, have someone call you at a certain time if they're gonna be up anyways... it's very hard waking up i know! just trying making it a habbit... and try with more than 3 alarm clocks placed all around your room...

Also try exercising during the day, that way you'll get a good quality sleep and wake up feeling refreshed.

Go to bed earlier. That's all my advice. Like with me, I know I need about 8h of sleep a night, so if I have to get up early then I go to sleep earlier, so that I get that 8h of sleep.
