AstralStorm Depending what you say, would you lie at the cost of your family's lives, or tell the truth at the expense of your own (god forbid that this should actually happen to anyone, but this question popped up in my sleep on night, and so I wanted to get people's opinions. You see, that's a situation I'd probably not get into. And if I did, I'd use my charisma score to make it so that nobody died. [/shot]

Myself: Maybe Others: Definitely, or else i'd be responsible for hurting them. Maybe mislead them, but either way, if i didn't not tell the whole truth, it'd be my fault if something bad happened. Well, it's more complicated than that, but w.e
@Astral: However unlikely, i'd have myself killed instead of my family. Better myself die than my valedictorian brother who's gonna overthrow microsoft cool

The belief that you have the right to lie implies two things: firstly, that you have some special right to the truth; and secondly, that you have the authority to deny that right to others. No such situation exists in this world that those two conditions are met, therefore no such situation exists that a lie can be rightful. Simply put...

Highly uncomfortable with the whole "does your family die, or do you?" question... because we're already established that it will be my family that dies.
My mom's already lived her life, and she couldn't bear to let me die knowing I haven't lived mine.
It sounds selfish, and it'll scar the ******** out of me, but it's the logical situation.
Good thing it's just a hypothetical question, though it still doesn't make me feel better.
Lying on the other hand is easier. I can turn myself into a complete b*****d just to protect someone I love. I can lie straight through my teeth and feel little remorse as long as it benefits the situation.
Lie: I'm a girl. Lie: I'm a boy. Lie: I'm a skunk.
And this isn't just because it's the internet, it's incredibly easy to lie to people in real life. You'd be surprised....
