Amanda Hope O'Conner

When Amanda had found out she won someone in the White Day Auction she was a excited to meet someone new. She had never heard of Jacob Waldroup but hey she didn't exactly know many people on the Island. Looking outside before leaving made Amanda's outfit choice final, it wasn't snowing much anymore and so it was a motorcycle day. Raiding her closet she finally came up with an outfit that would keep her warm while riding. As she rode out towards the Cafe, she had warm thoughts that kept the wind from making her too chilled. Parking her bike under an awning so it wouldn't get wet, Amanda pulled her helmet off and went inside with it. Figuring she was a bit early, she went up to the counter and ordered a coffee and sat down at a table nearby. Putting the helmet on the floor she pulled her crackberry out and sent off an email to a client quickly. Taking a sip of her hot beverage Amanda waited patiently for her mystery guy to show.

So, maybe Theresa was annoyingly right that Jacob was being a whiny b***h inside the inn room, it didn't mean she had to stick him in some stupid auction so he could be forced out into the cold with some random stranger! ********, it could have been a ***** or.. anyone! They didn't have gender restrictions at the auction! What chance did he honestly have at getting someone mildly attractive? Especially with the statistics of this damned island.. Yes, Jacob actually was aware of the oddly high death count for a small area like this. But, it wasn't because he had went out of his way to look into it! It was more like his mother was ranting at him over the phone a few days ago about how all her children were living in a dangerous, bloody island and how she was afraid to visit her potentially only grandson! Jacob would have, at one point in his life, yelled at her how he was totally straight and stable enough to get a few kids sometime in the future, but.. he wasn't sure of that right now.

His mood plummeted, which seemed to be a theme with the Waldroup men, as he entered the business, looking about the cafe to – hey, blond hottie~! Reflexively, an eyebrow arched cockily and a stupid grin was formed as he swaggered his way over to the table and.. remembered he was gay. His arrogant posture dropped into something more humble and defeated as he looked sadly at the woman there. Daammmn, why did he have to be gay?! Why couldn't he have seen the piece of a** sooner, when he was still deep in denial and in his prime of manhood?! He let out a dramatic breath and nearly pouted as he spoke, “..Are you Amanda? I'm Jacob.” He straightened back up from his once-casual-manly lean on the table, his hands going into the pockets of the gray coat he had on. Even in the cold, he would have been more inclined to something that showed off his arms, but.. eh, lately, he didn't feel as much pride as he once did.. Well, outside of short bursts, like when he saw some hot chick or a guy he assumed should be considered attractive to a young gay man.

When a person walked into the Cafe, Amanda would glance up each time, wondering who this mystery Jacob was. As the crackberry beeped at her someone else came in. Seeing this guys body posture change when she felt his eyes on her made her smile. If that's petty then oh well. I know I look good. He walked closer and then suddenly his entire attitude changed. What the eff. What happened to that cocky guy. A little confused and slightly annoyed Amanda looked up at his slightly pouty face. Smoothing her face into a cheerful smile she answered. "Yup that's me. Amanda O'Conner at your service." Still smiling she was absolutly determined to figure out what the heck had happened between him walking in the door to him reaching her table. "Your welcome to sit down, I don't bite." Picking up her cup of coffee she took a sip and wondered what would happen now.

OOC; It's a shorty, but I wasn't quite sure where to lead this. Or I'm just having a brain dead night. Either way. :<

..And she was nice too. Goddammit, couldn't she have a horrible personality to make this easier on him? No, she had to be cute and hot and.. Ugh. Jacob tried not to heave a tempting sigh as he took a seat across from the blond. ..Really.. The more he looked at her, the better she looked~ It could be the whole 'forbidden' factor that made her that much better, but he wasn't going to believe that. Nah, it was just that she was a chick and girls were always better than guys, no question on it, so of course she could only get better~ Ah, he really wished he had appreciated Caprice when he had her. He could hardly prevent that regretful sigh from escaping just before he replied to her, “Cool.” ..Not much for words, was he? Then again, he wasn't sure what else to say. Talking to girls always equated to mindless flirting and showing off, but he couldn't exactly do that now, could he? He frowned and glanced over at the menu to the cafe before looking back at her. “..We're gonna be here long?” Not that he would mind it, but it would be nice to know what she had in mind for this. A simple date or something? He had heard some of the guys ended up conned into chores or stuff like that, so he couldn't be sure.

((Naah, no worries~ >w> They can just hang out or somethin'. :'D))

Well arn't you rude. At his rather obvious distaste for the entire situation Amanda sighed. "If you have something you would rather be doing, you don't have to sit here. I was just interested in making a new friend. Its apparent though that you don't want to be here." Taking another small sip of her coffee she took a deep breath when she put it down. "I would rather this not be akward, but if you really are not interested in just leaving then I guess that's up to you. I figured hanging out and grabbing some coffee was a good idea for a cold day. The snow had stopped some so I rode my bike out but I can always ride it back if coffee isn't working." Blushing slightly she fiddled with the sleeve on the cup and tried to find something to talk about. Anything. Seeing him keep looking away from her or just in other directions was a blow to her pride some. I'm either not pretty enough in his opinion or he just would rather be anythere but here. God why is it so hard to make friends on this freaking Island?!

OOC; Damn, I'm 2/2 on short posts. Sorry Serend >w<

Accompanying Vladimir, Romane paused briefly at the door, peering inside to try to identify who was working that day. It wasn't as if she would have left if it was Shinju, Avien, or whoever else was on duty that day was there – she had come in plenty of times with Neil to disprove that explanation – but, she did like being prepared if she would have to be ordering from someone who viewed her a bit, ah, negative. Though, she probably should have asked Vladimir if they could have had coffee at the general store rather than going all the way through town square, the garden, and the park to the cafe, a place that was more likely to be less pleasurable than it could. Really, it wasn't as if Romane enjoyed having people irate at her, but she still wasn't going to say anything but her opinion. She had every right to do what she did that day! ..If she remembered correctly, that is.. Ah, well, she wasn't suspended or punished beyond a scolding, so, while her methods were perhaps 'crude', she was still correct in her intentions, which should be good enough to get the employees here to forgive her.

But, it wasn't like hovering outside the door would solve anything. She looked up at Vladimir and said in a warning tone, “The owner is likely to not appreciate my presence due to some previous misunderstandings.” So, she just had to hope that Avien was lazy and just wasn't in that day. Not that the man had actually done anything to make her believe that, but she had enough reasoning to assume he was wary of her. She moved inside and stole a quick look over to the counter, not spying the red-tinted head of hair. Feeling secure that the most they would get would be nervous servers, she motioned Vladimir to come in and went to the counter to order while taking her wallet out. “Coffee. Black.” Just the usual from her. She didn't even glance at the menu for that, but, really, she didn't need to. What kind of cafe wouldn't have coffee, after all?

"You dont listen do you?" Vlad said as he cupped his hand over Romane's wallet and kept his hand on hers momentarily. He took out his own and looked to the clerk. "Make that a venti coffee, black for the lady, and a venti mocha chai tea with foam for me. And with soy if you have it actually." Vlad said gently as he paid for the drinks. He said he was going to, that meant she was not to take out her damned wallet. Releasing Romane's hands only when the transaction was complete and they had their drinks, Vlad turned to her.

"Lets sit and talk. Your misunderstandings here aside. They cant ban you from a coffee shop." Vlad said to her. God she was... paranoid with the way she came in here, and now Romane seemed uneasy to be in the presence of the Cafe. She needed as much work as he did it seemed. "Besides.. have you ever thought to say you were sorry for the whole ordeal?"

Vlad went over to a table and pulled out a chair for Romane. He offered it to her before slipping into the chair besides hers. Taking out a pack of thin cigars he took one out, lit it up and put the rest away. Yes he had started smoking more since he and Bela went through that ordeal. No he didnt care that he was destroying his lungs. He took a long drag on the cigarette and watched Romane for a moment. His hazel gaze took in her tense nature, meanwhile he was rather relaxed. One leg had crossed over the other, his coffee or whatever it was, cooling on the table infront of him. And he was leaning back in his chair and smoking. Not that he didnt have things to be paranoid about.. but if the ordeals he had gone through in his life taught him anything that taking a risk and living life was better than being a shut in and living safe.

"So tell me.. If you arent stalking me as you say... then what is it you are doing?" Vlad said as he exhaled the smoke into the air above their heads. "Not that i mind, like i said before, its not everyday im stalked by a beautiful lady cop. But it has raised several questions Romane." Vlad said gently. "Aside from the New Years Eve.. two years ago, our only other interaction was you arresting me and my brother for the outrageous charge of *****. And then my store burned down, by whom i dont know. but honestly i dont care about that anymore." Vlad said as he watched her, and inbetween smoking and drinking his coffee.

Romane was well about to turn her head and snap at the man for saying that she, of all people, didn't know how to listen, but a sudden warmth on her hand had her ceasing much, if any, thought. Oh, but not in that good way that holding Cid's hand had – this was more of a sudden panic that, had she not been on medication right then, would have probably given her more than enough reason to pull her gun on Vlad and give the cafe a second good reason to be wary of her. But, she had herself under more control than that. She just had to remembered that Vladimir was in a public place – so was MFX. She pursed her lips and forced herself not to do anything rash. Focus on Vladimir's much too complicated order – yes, that was better. A good distraction until he returned his hand to his side and allowed her to breath again. She quickly slid her hand back with the wallet, slipping it into her pocket as she took the coffee with her other. She stopped for a second as she noticed the weight and then, a little slower than usual, the size. ..He had ordered her a large? She only got a large when she was planning an all nighter or skipping a meal, not on a short outing!

She frowned at the idea that he was intending for this to last long, but didn't say anything of it as she followed him to the table. If they were just to talk, then it should be fine. From her experience with Neil, it would basically meant she sat and listened while the other rambled nonstop, asking a question on occasion to which she could reply curtly before going back to her drink. It would help ease any nerves that were still rattled from the previous contact. “There is no need for an apology. Every action committed by myself was rational and lawful.” The actions of the others, though.. That could be debated. She sat down in the chair he offered carefully, glancing down at it first to assure herself there wasn't anything off about the seat. Then, she simply began to sip her coffee and let him speak, not expecting him to stop for at least half an hour, plenty of time to – ..ah? She rose a brow in surprise as, not a minute after she had that thought, he suddenly stopped and looked at her as though he expected a reply. ..Well. That was.. interesting.. It took her a few moments before she spoke, waiting to see if he would continue or not, but, curiously enough, he didn't. Strange man.

I dislike any charges filed by myself being called 'outrageous', Vladimir.” She started indignantly in a warning, frowning as she went over what else he had said with ease. After speaking with Neil, of course she had learned to keep up with someone like Vladimir. It was like child's play! She prevented herself from snorting at that last statement of his – oh, yes, he didn't want to know because he already knew. Romane had long been convinced that Vladimir had set the building on fire himself. At one point, it was a plot to kill her, but the idea had lost it's apparent logic for whatever reason and now was just a simple insurance measure. ..Though, she hadn't found much of a lead on that.. Oh, well, she still believed it. “Observing, to answer your original question. You were kidnapped two years ago and I have yet to see you attend therapy or anything of that nature. Considering the.. traumatic nature of an event, it would not be 'outrageous' to be wary of.. you to commit something as a result. It is a precaution.” She took a drink of her coffee as she finished that, keeping it in hand with a glance at the cafe's staff. Any odd activity? No, it seemed to be just the normal skittish behavior.. Good.

Vlad was quiet while Romane took her time in answering him.. Dear God woman. Yes this was a conversation.. it meant two people had to participate. But what Romane said next, not to mention her answer to his question. It all had Vlad frozen in shock. Boiling anger seeped into his hazel gaze. Was she implying what he thought she was implying? He was a victim.. and now because he didnt go to therapy she was afraid he would commit.. what commit what Romane?!

"Commit what? Do go into detail Officer." Vlad said as he leaned forward, he wasnt relaxed now. Rather his whole body language had him warning her to choose her words carefully. "What exactly are you implying that i will commit as a result of what happened two years ago?" Vlad said as he bit down on the end of his thin cigar. IF she said what he thought she was going to say, he was going to strangle her.. most likely. Not really. But the imply already had ruined his mood. Was she afraid he would rape or murder someone? Is that why she had been following him around for TWO ******** YEARS?! After the s**t he went through!? Then and as a child?! How dare she! And anyone else accuse him of such.. disgusting, vile, depraved.. he'd rather chop off his own d**k, gouge his eyes out, then EVER.. EVER think of doing that to another human being...

Self defense murder aside..

Romane mentally winced as she noted his sudden tension – if his posture wasn't giving it away, his voice certainly was, what with how laden it was with masked irritation. Or she hoped it to be just irritation, but she doubted it was beyond possibility that he was angered by her. And why shouldn't he be? Romane knew herself that being accused of the same predation that was inflicted on one was insulting – and more. But, he was the one asking for an answer! If he hadn't been curious and just ignored her like half of the town did, then she wouldn't have had to make something up like that! But, the man was already angry and she wasn't going to point that out when it would likely just worsen the situation. So, she finished the drink she was on, set her coffee down, and looked back at Vladimir. She hadn't completely lost the pleasantry of the coffee break, after all, even if she stuck with what she said.

If it pleases you, Vladimir, I do not believe you would harm an average civilian.” She frowned as she carried on, “However, I do believe that an individual resembling the ones who committed the.. event of two years ago could be subjected to some act of violence. Assault, battery..” ..and stalking, like she was. Somewhat. Not really. ...Alright, so, it was similar to stalking. Perhaps she should drop the thought and move on. “I do not think you would deny having some thoughts of another meeting with Mr. Enzo, correct?” Of course not. If even Romane had thought of committing murder against Jillian, then someone like Vladimir would certainly have considered it multiple times.

All of Vladimirs irritation and anger was sucked from him after Romane spoke. So she wasnt accusing him of... oh. But she was accusing him of the possibility that he would attack his torturers. No. No it wasnt an accusation, well to her it was. To him it hit him hard, she had hit the nail on the head. Vlad took his cigarette from his lips and sank back into his chair. The anger and irritation was exchanged for a dark and tormented look in his hazel eyes.

She was right. But she didnt know HOW right she was. Some ..thoughts? More like nightmares.. and strategic planning on just how exactly he would go about getting those men back for what they did. And not just them, but any kidnapping, child molesting, murdering rapist out there. Often his day dreams as of late had gone into dark fantasies of torturing and killing the mother ********. So much so that it would make anyone shudder should he even utter part of his plan or dark thoughts.

Vlad put out his cigarette as the sound of some NPC customer coming into the Cafe broke his dark thoughts. He took a sip of his coffee thingy and set it down before looking to Romane. What could he tell her? She was right. Spot on, hit the target, unlocked the achievement. At this point.. with her following him around for two years and this is what she had come to conclude. Something that always boiled beneath his surface ever since his child hood. Honesty seemed to be the best policy.

"I have.. but.." He said as he looked to his coffee. "What i would do to those men would have me locked up in an insane asylum for the rest of my life.. that or put me in a tiny room with no windows at some high security prison." Vlad said before he looked to her. "I cant deny it. Your absolutely right, Romane." Vlad said before thoughts from his past came up. "...i cant promise anyone i wouldnt do it. Because i would.. and i have." He said softly. "Myself.. and some other children were.. in a simpler experience, with what happened two years ago. But this.. it happened when i was young.. I was raped along with the girls, No police came.. and it went on for ... too long." Vlad said his eyes were dark as shadows, the pain that surfaced in them would haunt anyone's dreams.

"...so i snapped.. i couldnt handle it. I killed our tormentors then. To not do so now.. is eating me up inside. You have no idea the horrible nightmares i've had. And how the guilt of not making them suffer for what they did to the us, is eating a hole through my psyche.. my soul and my heart
." Vlad said softly, as a tear ran down his cheek.

He calmed down. Good. He did appear unsettling now, however, but Romane could ignore that with her coffee. Not that she was unsympathetic, but suffering in silence was her preferred method of dealing with grief, so it was natural for her to assume it would be the same for someone else. It wasn't as though whatever someone else said or did could really fix anything, after all, so she didn't bother to attempt it this time. He could smoke while she enjoyed her coffee and, perhaps, it would be better for them both if they finished their coffee break like this. It was much more enjoyable, though she couldn't help staring at passerby warily, somewhat tense whenever a new face came by – but, Vladimir had distracted her from that when he spoke again. She frowned; did he really have to speak? Especially in such a tone.. It didn't seem like she had very much hope in saving this break.. She should just resign herself to an awkward meeting. She internally sighed and listened reluctantly as he went on, setting her coffee down as the topic proved to dissuade her from such pleasantries.

Although she had ideas of murder, it.. none of her fantasies were really enough to warrant the punishments Vladimir was stating. Either he was misinformed on the legal system or he honestly had gotten creative in his ideas. She nodded and was about to tell him she understood – from an outsider's point of view – but, he didn't stop. No, instead, he went on. She creased her brow, feeling the urge to tell him to quiet now before he said something more, but she didn't make a sound of protest. She tensed and stared at him hard, her teeth gritting. A confession. Of all things he could do, he decided to confess to murder. It wasn't that Romane didn't intend to do her job that day, but.. It would be cruel to say she honestly hoped someone would tell her of a deed like this.

..Mr. Tepes. I apologize.” She wasn't sure she had actually been told what to do in this situation, but it was only logical to assume that arresting was in order. She stood up from her chair and withheld a reluctant sigh as she unclasped her cuffs from her belt and went to Vladimir's chair. “It is.. nothing to be alarmed over. However, it would be best if you accompanied myself to the station for review.” She frowned as she held the cuffs in front of her, “..I am afraid it will be necessary to handcuff you.” If only to settle her own nerves too. He didn't look angry or violent, even, but she couldn't trust anyone in an emotional state.

Vlad hadnt been paying attention to Romane's movements. It wasnt until she said she would have to take him in and handcuff him that Vlad felt his heart start to race as he looked to the cuffs. No.. he couldnt. Not cuffing!

Vlad swallowed hard as the look of a frightened deer came to his eyes. He climbed out of his chair as fast as he could away from Romane. He backed himself into the nearest wall, stumbling over chairs in the process. "N-no... I.. not with cuffs.. Ill go but not bound by cuffs." Vlad stammered, his heart was racing a mile a minute and he started panicking. The thought of being cuffed, it reminded him of his bonds two years ago. Even though it was rope, Vlad was not okay with having his hands bound for ANY length of time. "Not with those.. just not with those.." Vlad whimpered, he couldnt back himself into the wall far enough. He was quickly starting to feel helpless and if those cuffs went on the feeling would only amplify.

"I cant .. i cant handle being bound. J-just.." Vlad's eye started twitching. "Ill go.. just not with those." Vlad choked out, he was near tears, just from the memories from 2 years ago. He didnt care about having to go in and be questioned or anything like that. It was just too soon for him to be bound.. even for his own safety.

The sudden movement had one hand dropping it's side of the cuffs to dart to the gun at her hip warily, but she didn't have to pull it out. She noticed, quite easily, that he wasn't lunging to attack or any of that sort; he was hiding in a corner like some child avoiding their shots. It was a pathetic sight to have to witness, one that had a few NPCs turning their heads from their drinks and work to watch curiously, a few growing tense for fear that, perhaps, Romane was going to shoot this man too. But, any of that would have been alleviated when she shifted her hand to the back of her belt instead to her radio. Yes, she had a feeling this wasn't going to be done very easily, even if she didn't think he was going to try to harm anyone. She wasn't really used to arresting a frightened individual – the suspect was normally irritated, confused, or just indifferent rather than frantic. Any officer would have been uncomfortable with this – any officer with a conscience, that is. But, this was different than that for Romane. It wasn't just awkward and, no, it wasn't a small tinge of guilt when she approached Vladimir slowly to the wall he pushed himself up against. She understood Vladimir fears, which made this so much worse.

Duty was duty, however, and Romane refused to go against protocol. If she said he needed to be arrested then she needed him to be cuffed. She hovered infront of him, debating on just how she should get this done as fast and painless as possible for Vladimir, but there wasn't any answer that wouldn't use force. The longer she stood there, though, the worse it was for him. She closed her eyes for a moment, disliking the sight, before she took two, quick steps and set a firm, but hopefully not harsh hand on his bicep. She spun him to face the wall, hurrying in dragging his arms behind his back to clip them together. She doubted he would be very predictable in his current predicament, but she could only hope that meant he would take this quietly, even if reluctant. “It is only for a short time, Mr. Tepes. I ask that you remain calm.” She attempted to console him with the best she could manage, though she said it gruff and quick, her tone lowered in hopes that the lack of volume would make it seem more gentle.

Vlad was still trying to get into or through the wall if he could, as Romane came towards him. His entire body started shaking and he put his hands out to stop her but he was shaking too badly. "D-d..dont." He choked out, as she kept getting closer and closer. His eyes pleaded with her desperately. But as soon as she touched him only to spin him around and cuff him.. that look in his eyes was gone.

Vlad's eyes quickly became dark voids, of pain as his mind slipped right into his past. His head was hung and while he was compliant, he was still shaking badly. Tears went down his cheeks and the look of utter hopelessness entered his gaze. His breathing was panicked and his heart was still going a mile a minute. But he didnt lash out, he wasnt resisting in the least. It was like he had completely given up. Of course that haunting look in his eyes would tell you all you needed to know. Vlad wasnt home right now, leave a message at the beep. Anything Romane said, didnt register, and he just walked mechanically as Romane took him in for questioning.

-Exit Vlad and Romane.. too the Po-Po department!-
