Xiu stared at the small clump of feathers that made up the hatchling. It was amazing that such a tiny creature could cause such frustration in Lazarus. Granted, the Sigel was of a fiery element. Stroking the bird with a reprimanding finger, Xiu left the little hatchling alone in its makeshift nest. There seemed to be no immediate danger to the nestling anyway.
Floating over to where Lazarus was, Xiu leaned against the doorway with a slight smile on his face. Lazarus was washing his hand with the kind of intense gaze one would normally associate with surgery. Was the bird’s …dropping that bad? Folding his wings neatly behind his back, Xiu approached Lazarus and tilted his head. What do you want to do now? Blue eyes seemed to question the other. There was already enough hot water for the both of them to enjoy a warm drink and there was that small dish of pasta he had created for the both of them…
Taking Lazarus gently by the arm, Xiu led the other to the sofa and indicated that Lazarus should make himself comfortable.

Drying his hands with a towel, he looked at Xiu's expression with mild confusion. Although since they had been together, Lazarus had learnt to read Xiu's silent expressions better, but sometimes it was still a little difficult. Like now... he was sure that Xiu is asking him what is going to happen next, but he is not sure if he meant their quiet date together or about the little nestling. As he let Xiu take him to the sofa, red eyes darted towards the tuft of feathers settling into the makeshift nest, it seemed to be getting comfortable and making a little less noise now. Maybe he should get comfortable and relax too.
Taking a seat on the couch, he sighed softly. But before he let Xiu go off to grab some food or drinks, he grab onto the white Sigel's hand. "Thank you, for putting up with me and the bird." It was totally not the ideal date that he had imagined. Pausing for a moment, he prepared for the next important question. "But... what are we going to do about him?" Since he had already brought the birdie back, he doubt that the mother bird will be looking for him. He had heard that... once their parent found out that the nest had been found out or disturbed by people, they will flee, even abandoning their own children. For a moment, he had to wonder if that was what happened. The little nestling's parents abandoned him.
So that means, the only solution is to keep him? Brows knitting, he is not sure if he could do that, or is up to it. But at the same time, he didn't want to abandon the little bird too, leaving him to die.

The white Sigel was surprised when Lazarus held him back. Was there something that the fiery Sigel needed? Perhaps the room was not warm enough? He knew that Lazarus preferred heat to the chilly winter air outside. Hazeline might not be too happy with the gas money but Xiu felt that a little splurging would do no harm. She had left with Joshua to visit their parents while the housekeeper had gone off to live with her sister for the holidays. He had the house pretty much to himself.
Lazarus’ statement however made his laugh. It was no trouble at all having them over. Lazarus, of course, was always welcomed and the tiny bird…well, it would certainly be cruel to leave it out in the snow. Speaking of which…
A glance out of the window made Xiu frown. The sky was darkening and the white Sigel did not like the look of it at all. Odd though. The weatherman did say that there was a chance of light snowing but this…seemed to warrant a snowstorm. Grabbing a pen and paper from the coffee table, Xiu wrote “I’ll look after the bird for now but Lazarus, the sky does not look too good to me. Will you be taking your leave or would you like to stay the night over?”
The last statement had been written as an amusing joke but part of the Sigel was hoping that Lazarus would say yes.

Curious, Lazarus's gaze followed Xiu's as he glanced at the window. Indeed, the light outside had dimmed considerably, and it wasn't even noon yet! A look of worry cast over Lazarus's face as the light outside dimmed further.
As much as he had absolutely loved to stay the night over, he couldn't. "I'm sorry..." Getting up from the couch, he clutched Xiu's hands in his as he look at the other apologetically. "I actually have some errands to run for Kyou after this. I thought I could stay until afternoon and do it after, but the weather doesn't look too optimistic..." Surely, if a snowstorm is coming, in which it does look like it judging from the wind that is picking up outside as well. He will need to finish his tasks as soon as possible before the weather gets really bad. "I'm really sorry, I'll make it up to you when we go for the ice sculpture exhibition, alright?" Gently lifting himself a little higher, he placed a kiss on Xiu's forehead, blushing lightly as he pulled away.
"I really appreciate it that you would look after the bird as well." Lazarus felt terrible, like he was dumping a burden onto Xiu's shoulder. He hated troubling other people like this, which is why he always relied on himself to solve his own troubles. However in this case, if a snowstorm really starts outside, he was not sure if the nestling would last against the weather if he brought it home to the Lab. "I'll bring some bird feed for it soon, okay?" At least he would be doing something then, not just leaving the whole responsibility to Xiu.

Disappointment clearly showed on the white Sigel’s face when Lazarus made the decision that he had to leave in order to get some things done for Dr.Kyou. It had hardly been an hour and already Lazarus was taking his leave; and leaving the young nestling over at that! Not that Xiu had anything against the young thing but…for all the time that Lazarus and he had spent together, the nestling had taken a large portion of it.
Well, there was no helping it. If Lazarus had any plans to leave, he had better do it now before the snow starts. Xiu knew how much the Fiery Sigel hated ice. Floating up, Xiu was about to take the keys off the mantelpiece when Lazarus approached him and gently placed a kiss on his forehead. Xiu could hardly hide the blush that was threatening to show against his fair skin. The kiss was warm and gentle. It was also comforting and, to an extent, encouraging …
Xiu fought to keep his blush down while he returned the kiss with a brief one of his own on Lazarus’ cheek. It still felt rather odd kissing someone; and an older male raevan at that. Once this was done, Xiu quickly grabbed the keys and unlocked the main door for Lazarus downstairs.
“Guess…I’ll be seeing you,” mouthed the white Sigel shyly.

The returned kiss, although brief and feathery light, made Lazarus blush a shade darker. But a happy smile crept upon his face as he touched his cheek gently where Xiu kissed him. Although he secretly wished it was more than just that, but it will do for now. Baby steps!
He would have returned the kiss with another if Xiu had not already went to grab the keys to let him out. Grabbing his pea coat, he put it on and buttoned it up, securing the belt around him and fluffing up the collars as well as he followed the white Sigel downstairs. Although it was still fairly warm inside the bookstore, he was sure that with the force of the wind blowing outside, the cold would be really bad. He wouldn't mind winter too much if it wasn't so windy outside. It was like being pierced by needles when the wind hits his skin, so he tries his best to have everything covered.
As Xiu turned the knob to the door, he mouthed those words then. Smiling softly in response, Lazarus took the opportunity to lean in and peck Xiu on the lips briefly, like a kiss goodbye. "We'll see each other very soon." Lazarus reassured the white Sigel as he slipped out the door, leaving a furiously blushing Xiu behind. Although the fire Sigel was blushing as well, but at least he could blame it on the coldness outside. No icy wind could wipe the giddy smile off of his face as he left the bookstore to run his errands.
