Congrats!
I have problems finishing a story...haha

i can write a full novel in days. its typing and editing that takes forever. youll get it done!

Thanks...but my problem is this...
1. Gets an awesome idea
2. Starts working on it immediately
3. Gets distracted
4. Repeat
I have a billion ideas...some still seem pretty cool...but I have a problem with finishing them. I tried a way to make myself break that habit but it failed. I am not sure what to try next. Hmmm

That's cool though...that you can write out a full novel in a few days. How many pages are yours usually?

i dont count XD i type them up and see. right now, one book that still has to be split into chapters and edited again, is 73 pages typed in 12 times new roman on 8.5/11 paper

I never actually had writers block...I just get distracted with something else...haha
When I attempt to come back to it I don't go anywhere though. I don't think its writers block...more like I just like making up awesome ideas more than writing it all out or whatever.

well i have a great strategy for you. write the end first. then start writing from the beginning. its alot of fun trying to figure out what you have to do to get to what you have written. ive had to do that once. i am acctually in writers block now. i have written a great story, but its gotten to a place that i specifically tried not to get it to... the two main characters falling in love. but you know stuff happens XD now they are locked up in a lab and are being experimented on... stuck now.

Uh maybe you can make a main character turn evil and/or die and/or fall out of love...er yea

Yea not having a particular ending might be a problem
There was only one story that I figured out an ending to...maybe because it was super detailed (the story) and set in one particular place and had a particular beginning so there wasn't tons of crazy options. It's for a roleplay but I was still happy I had a planned ending. Granted there is a little leeway because other people are roleplaying other characters but yea.
Coming up with the ending might also help my tendency to write forever...like the characters are on a never-ending journey or something. haha
Oh and then it might be easier to come up with other plot developments and whatnot.

Why didn't I ever seriously think about trying to come up with the ending after I figure out the basics of my idea? So lame...

Anyway, thanks. ^_^

XD thats how i write. i start at the beginning, figure out where i want to go while i am writing, and as soon as i figure that out, its like my mind is self-conciously making me change the train of events to avoid that at all costs until later. but i jsut make it up as i go, and somehow things work out... even during time skips.

O.O I am appalled by some of the misinformation posted on here...
There are some great websites that you can look into for better information. And they are easily accessible and they well informed, well, because they are in the business.
And in all actuality this is probably a reason you probably think self-publishing is the best way to go, but your reasons show that you are an armature. Pros do their research before they make a decisions on what to do with their work. Pros can step out and be openly criticism from the big times in New York. And Pros will stop at nothing to do their work, and will always combat Resistance. That is their sole purpose for being on the surface of this planet, to write.

Websites that might assist in future endeavors:
http://caseylmccormick.blogspot.com/ (Almost everything you need to know about the business from a reliable source.)
http://www.publishersmarketplace.com/
http://www.agentquery.com/
http://pred-ed.com/peald.htm
http://queryshark.blogspot.com/

And if all else fails, go to Google.
