Beast Wars was one of TFs better written shows! Beast Machines was also rather well written but not quite as good as Beast Wars, though I did like the graphics a lot more.
Does anyone know why Rattrap was able to witch between legs and wheels while in root-mode in the comics but in the show he usually was all wheels all the time? Why is that? Was it just to much effort for the show artist to draw legs?

For the sake of the show, I believe that his wheels were seen as a way to refer to his transmetal form in BW. Further, such is possible that he could not change to legs because of interference with the transformation enhancing virus he put into his system. The legs could be seen as a 'third mode' and the enhanced transformation makes him unable to go to a normal mode and bypass to the full alt.
I refer to the robot mode as the alt because default for them appeared to be their animal modes.

I have to say that beast wars won me over on the spot. Even though it is an older show it put later CGI shows to shame (cough, Cybertron and energon, cough). Sadly Beast machines just weirded me out. Although the graphics were nice, the designs and even the plotjust weirded me out. I also missed it when BW Megatron was a ham sad

Though I do admit the stories were good.

The reason Beast Machines was so weird is because after Beast Wars the writers were told that the show was supposed to be something completely new, and they were expressly forbidden from doing any more research on G1 or tying the new stories into the old.
So the suits got the exact cartoon they ordered, and the writers got death threats. rolleyes

Why would the execs do that? Who knows. I'm guessing drugs were involved.

Beast machines dissapointed me. most of the time the maximals were runing instead of fighting. then megs goes crazy and everyone dies. dark and intersting, but a dissapointment. designs were weird, and nightscream creeped me out, yeah.....
