“Aki? Tha’ one chick who was all ‘blurrghh zombies oh no’? I swear if tha’ gift is a sewing kit fer me arms I’m gunna break ‘er in half. Tell tha’ girl tha’ I don’t break easily, by th’ way.”
Some guy Sinsario was sure he didn’t know waltz in and introduced himself as Zero. “At last, someone who introduces ‘imself! I can know yer name, hurray!” Which was fine and everything but Zero was staring at him oddly and questioning the contents of the eggnog. “Ah-hah…nawh th’ eggnog’s fine fer th’ most par’. I’m dead. It’s cool.” Sinsario took a tight hold on his head, and then forced the bones in his neck back into place. They made some nice cracking noises; everyone should appreciate them. “Cheers, fello’”

Taku managed to pull alongside the large vessel without crashing and threw a line out. Glancing back at her damage boat, she said, “On second thought, maybe it’s best if we didn’t tie off this fire hazard.” She jumped on deck and looked around. “Oh dear.”
“What is it?” Katt said, still on the boat and looking hesitant to jump the small gap.
“It looks like a Christmas party. And we didn’t bring anything.” Taku looked back to see her friend struggling to get out of the smoldering craft. She sighed and helped Katt across. “I swear, how did you become a pirate in the first place? Never mind.” Taku surveyed the gathering again. “Looks like a good time, anyway.”
“Y-you sure?” Katt said nervously. “We won’t get kicked out because we weren’t invited?”
“It’s Christmas Eve! They wouldn’t kick out two poor souls who just lost their ship now!” Taku started to head towards the drinks table.
“I don’t know, Taku, that guy over there seems a little…scary.”
“Who?” Taku glanced in the direction Katt indicated. She swore and veered away from the drinks, dragging Katt with her. “Just my luck, Sin’s here.”
“Wait, you know that guy?” Katt looked back.
“Bad date, don’t want to talk about it.” She looked for someone else to strike up a conversation with. “Don’t draw his attention.”

People were so amusing. Sil could probably people watch for hours without getting bored. There were just so many quirky things that they did! She chuckled to herself, moving over to the drinks. Picking up a cup, the shapeshifter hesitated to drink. She took a few sniffs at the rim of the cup, wrinkled her nose a bit and set it back down. Sil never drank alcohol, but she could identify the smell of it anyday. She made a habit of not drinking, afterall, her shapeshifting would be more difficult to control in an intoxicated state.
So she went back to people watching. She scanned the crowd, taking in each of the guests. She had spotted a couple of them back at the port, but no one in particular that she knew.
Well, it was probably time to socialize, then! She slid over to a group of people, smiling. "Hey! How's it goin'?"

The arrivals from the damaged ship turned abruptly, almost crashing into Aurelia, who smiled cheerily and thrust mugs of eggnog into their hands.
"Welcome on board! The rest of the crew's just seeing to your ship. What brings you here tonight? Not many people came last year--people tend to be a bit suspicious about a party held by pirates, but there you are."
The shapeshifter slid herself into their group with a greeting, which Aurelia returned even more enthusiastically. She then did her best to press a mug of eggnog on the new arrival, who did her best to refuse.
Looking over at the scene, Kestrel shook her head.
"It looks like my first mate is already drunk. I should have known, seeing that ridiculous get-up she's wearing."
