Ok, came to my attention tonight that the phisher that looks like it is an Official Gaia notice is making the rounds again. It appears to be on Gaia Letter head and says that it is from "NPA-Accounter Suspender". It says that your account has been reported and they need to investigate before deciding to ban or not. Then it goes on to say they need you to verify your account name and password...
This is a scam. They are fishing for your password. Do Not Give it to them! If you receive anything like what is discribed above - or anything you think is questionable in any way - just click the "report this" and let Gaia admin address it.
People - if it were really someone from gaia, they have access to your password and don't need it. Also, they tend to ban first, and let you answer questions later!
And, since we are on the topic, might as well talk about why we shouldnt accept random friend requests, anonymous gifts (on a daily/regular basis), etc...
My old main account (MystiBlu) and my other mule (IXI_FireFly_IXI) were banned last year because I was a trusting idiot. A "friend" who said they had a gambling problem - forever selling stuff on the mp to buy lotto tickets and losing all their gold - came to me and asked me to hold on to some items for them so that they wouldn't sell them. Sometimes I am too nice. The next day when I tried to log in, I found out that both my accounts had been banned. I had to create Muffin (the reigning Main) in order to find out why I was banned, and file for a review of the incident. I found out that I had been banned for "Hacking". Apparently the items that my "friend" sent me were stolen from another account. I guess he managed to get someones password...
It took me a month to get my accounts back after I filed the appeal. It truly sucked! Some of my friends became suspicious of me during that period of time. I lost a few "friends". I also learned that I need to be less trusting and more picky about who I associate with. I do not accept friend requests from anyone that I havent previously spoken to in some capacity. And the ONLY TIME I accept anonymous gifts is when I am participating in a guild event such as our Secret Santa. I have heard of someone receiving anonymous gifts, they open them, and them bam they are banned! It totally blows that we cant be more trusting, but hey... Thats why we are picky about who we have in our itty bitty guild - so we have a place where we can relax a little and not worry so much about who's lurking.
There are many other safety issues, I am sure. If anyone else wants to speak up here and address some of these for the enlightment of the rest of us, please do! I want all the information I can get!
If anyone has any questions regarding safety of your gaia account, here would be a good place to ask them...

May I summarize? Gaia will never ask for your pw or other account info. They don't need it. They can access your account without getting info from you.

I'd like to let you know of another safety issue. Please be careful and think before you post pictures of yourself. My sister and boyfriend posted pictures of themselves on here. Some girl had a crush on here on my sister boyfriend. She stole his and her pictures and created all kind of problems. Everytime they reported her account she created a new one, and mind you Gaia wont ban an ip address so the ban on these accounts were just temporary for a few months. She also took those pictures and then opened nasty facebook accounts using there names, etc. My sister n boyfriend left Gaia. However that person and all her accounts are still here.Some of you may be friends of hers, so be careful what you post you never know what a person will do.

i was just sent one of these "official admin private message". it is an avi in noob cloths.
i reported it. please if anyone gets one of the DO NOT GIVE OUT YOUR INFO AND REPORT IT!

Angeni1 I'd like to let you know of another safety issue. Please be careful and think before you post pictures of yourself. My sister and boyfriend posted pictures of themselves on here. Some girl had a crush on here on my sister boyfriend. She stole his and her pictures and created all kind of problems. Everytime they reported her account she created a new one, and mind you Gaia wont ban an ip address so the ban on these accounts were just temporary for a few months. She also took those pictures and then opened nasty facebook accounts using there names, etc. My sister n boyfriend left Gaia. However that person and all her accounts are still here.Some of you may be friends of hers, so be careful what you post you never know what a person will do. Thank you for the added insight, Angel. Let it be a reminder to everyone! There are people who feed on the misery of others, and drama is like a drug to them. You never know who is lurking!

The latest one looks a little more official - like it isnt from "accountant suspender" any more. LoL Just be aware, people, and click the report this whenever you get one!

i can not believe they even said beware of people asking for passwords!! this is ridiculous! they were wearing started cloths. the phishers seem to be getting more ruthless.
