Has anyone heard his new album? Excellent stuff. It's definitely a grower, though...

You were right about it having to grow on you.

I've listened to it some more times and it's definitely grown on me, however, I liked it from the start. This is common for me with rather...dense, albums though, or typical grower albums, so I decided to put up that warning. We have some guitarists here so I'm surprised more people haven't responded.

Isn't Pat Metheny that guitar player who was a friend of Jaco Pastorius'?

Could you give me a site which has a sample of "The Way Up"?

no, I haven't! I should get that from someone. Or buy it myself, sounds like I should.

Amazon probably has samples up, although it won't do much good when you're sampling 30 seconds to a minute of 20 + minute movements. sweatdrop

Quite, but you could get a general drift from the small samples.

But from what I hear, it is a very interesting piece of modern jazz.

Nice choice of music, man.

Yeah. I heard about it relatively recently, went to check it out, and it'll definitely stay in my collection.

I absolutely love that album! It's amazing to what level Pat and Lyle have taken their abilities.

Now if there was only a reincarnation of Jaco Pastorius, that would take it to a new level.

I saw a Youtube video of Pat with his most recent trio performing Bright Size Life. It's Richard Bona on bass, but it's SO good. Pat wasn't really that old when he wrote that either.
