Hun, you don't need to know anything about making banners. You can hire someone to do it for you.
Go to the mini shop forum, then the service subforum, there you can find banner shops. Most are very high quality, some even move, and they're usually pretty cheep since they're so small. Make sure you order one that's 200x40 pixels big.
