i'm usually not a huge fan of comparing celebs, but nicki minaj (i CONSTANTLY mispell both her first and last name btw) keep on comming up

but what do you guys think?
is niki copying gaga?
outfits, fans= monsters= "barbs", etc...
i dont have any hate/love relationships w/ minaj.... i hardly know anything about her actually, haha. but something tells me that she never intended to "copy" gaga...
i see this as...
gaga gave her the courage to dress w/e the way she wants to lol....
there is a bit difference in their outfits...... gaga's a bit more **artistic/darker**.. if you know what i mean lol. while minaj seems more flamboyant and party like...

hanimonster i see this as... gaga gave her the courage to dress w/e the way she wants to lol.... there is a bit difference in their outfits...... gaga's a bit more **artistic/darker**.. if you know what i mean lol. while minaj seems more flamboyant and party like... I think that's the case. When Gaga came out, everyone was comparing her with somebody as well. Nicki Minaj is a fan of Gaga's, but copying her may not be the case. We'll never know for certain, but we will always know that Gaga did pave the way for upcoming artists in the fashion world. I'm guessing Minaj would not come out dressing like that if there were no recent Gaga before her. All else aside, I really don't like Minaj's voice/music. Have you heard her part in Bottoms Up? Drives me crazy.

I'm sorry but she scares me. Her performance at the pre-VMAs scared me!! And she sucked!

Why is it every time there's a strong creative female in the music industry, she's compared to Lady Gaga? Despite my obvious love for Gaga, I find it beyond trite and extremely overkilled to be calling every girl in the music business that wears wigs and has a wardrobe that has more than jeans and a T-shirt the Lady Gaga of (insert term here). Whatever happened to being avant-garde or just thinking outside the box? confused
Frankly, the reason to this is most likely because the media has nothing to relate to other than Lady Gaga. This is just another case of thoughtless media.

I like Nicki been following her since her first mixtape I bought.Pink Friday is an ok album it will have nothing on Born this Way. I don't think Nicki is copying Gaga she is more this generation's Lil Kim/Foxy Brown people need to stop with all the who copied who stuff the media is dumb creating beef for no reason at all. Not even Gaga can trademark a look or hairstyle. I do think Gaga paved the way for more recent artists to dress more outlandish and free.

This is just another case of thoughtless media. i think the reason that the media mentions gaga w/every music celeb is because gaga is the most successful "creative" thinker in our generation. it's only natural. and as fans, i think we tend to do that even more. yes, i agree that nicki isnt copying gaga, but i do believe that gaga was a litttle part in alot of celebs for having the courage to go outlandish/free/expressive in their clothes.

Well Nicki Minaj and Lady Gaga both have huge similarities and huge influences and are also, just plain huge in the music world! I think Nicki isn't copying Lady Gaga but I agree with hani. Consciously or subconsciously she was affected. I would love to see them do a collab on a song cuz I love both artists!
