Only read the title - and the answer is YES!

The rest matters not.

You are weird Zathy - because 'Normal' is overrated.

I don't really like to start cleaning, but once I get in the mood with some tunes going it gets fun. Plus I always procrastinate. Working during the day and cleaning there, then cleaning at home? Nawwww, no thanks.

I think I must have obsessive compulsive personality disorder. I seem to fit the checklist, and I actually am pretty crazy for cleanliness. My room is so clean, I wish someone would mess it up, so I could clean it again xd

You should come clean my place. xd I have crafting crap everywhere right now, haha. I'm just glad we keep our clutter in the apartment though...Some of our neighbours on the same side as us leave all their trash on their balconies for everyone to see from the sidewalk. I frigging hate it! Like one girl's balcony...I can see her old frigging Playtex box! Ughghg the trash bin is just and elevator ride away you lazy turds.

I'm the kind of clutter-messy, not the leaves-food-rotting-and-trash-for-weeks kind of messy. confused

I'ma mess it up good.

Yeah you will. rofl

No one wants me to clean their house, because I use my personal judgment. "Does this object have a 'home'?" "How many of these do you have?" and my favourite "Can I throw this out?"

Soooo... can I throw this out? Can I? Looks like junk to me... I'm positive it's junk.... I bet they won't miss it. I'ma throw it out...

Don't get mad at me when your precious trash art is missing when you get back XD I am ruthless.

There are somethings I cannot stand.

arrow Clutter. An unreasonable amount of knick knacks. I mean how many non-useful decorative objects do you need in any given space? I am not a big fan of 'collectibles' because where does it stop? I have three collectible things, garden gnomes (3 normal size, half a dozen minis), thimbles from my travels (6), and a few Russian nesting dolls (4). I don't dare get anything else, I live in one room.

arrow Things not having a 'home' or station. You bring something into you place, it should have a place where it belongs.

arrow Redundancy in usable objects. Having enough q-tips to last you 10 years, for example.

arrow Dishes not being done within a 24 hour period. I personally prefer to do the dishes after every meal, and once before going to bed, get those evening mugs and snack dishes done up... but if it has to wait, it cannot be more than a whole day. Seriously, that is disgusting.

arrow Bad attitudes from people around you. Granted, there are limitations to cleanliness. I go beyond those bounds, and I don't expect anyone to walk around being spotless or to help me with everything, that is unreasonable. However I hate a slob, who won't make an effort to tidy their own mess. No one wants to feel a slave to just the basic standards because of other people around you. I'll clean the toilet, I just ask you not to leave your underwear on the floor in the bathroom. I'll do the dishes, just don't make me have to collect them from all over the house everytime. Reasonable?

You keep your space clean to begin with, it only takes about 10 minutes a day to maintain it. I don't get why that is so hard for so many people.

I am in a bind on cleaning. I like to have a very clean, orderly environment, but A) I live in Nevada, so everything builds up 2 years' worth of dust every 12 hours, B) My health makes me weak and not exactly the most firmly rooted in the hair department, and C) everyone else is dirtier than I am here. So basically, I tried to keep on top of it all for awhile before I just burned out. I try on occasion to clean, but the futility of the uphill battle and my fatigue usually just sees me crying in a corner and rocking back and forth in a less than composed state.

I feel ya. I live with two hoarders and everyone besides my aunt is lazy... and she works 8 to 10 hours clamming half the year, so isn't available. Everything is a needless battle.

Now my grandparents are pretty much incapacitated ... but still manage to make a mess even though they don't clean it. My mother is in denial of her hoarding and the fact that she makes a mess to, although she loves to complain about everyone else's. It sucks all the joy out of it. I don't get to clean to make this place a happy, healthy environment. It's all these little power struggles that date back to a time before I was born. ******** it, I say. I'ma make my own house hold, it's will be small, tidy, and disinfected, with no permanent weird smells. Mess is one of the worst things for my mental health. I think it causes needless stress. I really do believe that mess is a sign or symptom of mental illness... a disorganized mind, an unhappy mind... lives in 24/7 mess. I also find it disrespectful when people mess up a communal living space, but never clean it.
Unfortunately my family is not always simply messy, but filthy. I watered my grandmother's fern today and found toenail clippings in the pot. So, yeah, not cool. scream

My aunt and I had this joke when we were trying to pack my grandmother stuff across country a few years ago. She, being even more spartan than I am, and dealing with this 25 years longer, was really worn down with all the arguments. We often said to each other we should just light a match and walk away, and it eventually turned into a hand sign signalizing something bursting into flame and mouthing "poof" when it would get bad and frustrating. We still feel like that sometimes. Just burn it, burn it all to the ground. I would rather have nothing too if it meant I didn't have to deal with yours.

Not weird for the cleaning, the good king of weird for all the other lovely things about you. wink

Let's see. I started adulthood cleaning up after myself as I went. My surfaces were spotless and entirely clutter free. All the clean laundry put away and all the dirty in the hamper which never overflowed. I also had anxiety issues and my dad made me eat portions of food that was way too much for me, and often of things I detest eating, like fish. Then it was my responsibility to do the dishes afterward. I developed an eating disorder where I intentionally starved myself and felt good about it, and to this day I still have lapses where washing dishes feels like torture. The dishes are the biggest issue in my household even now.

I get bogged down by work, when I first moved in with my now husband, I worked 6-7 days a week and then came home and spent 2 hrs cleaning and tidying up. It was like climbing uphill through knee-deep mud, you can only do it so long before you simply don't have the energy anymore. He has gotten SO MUCH BETTER but I still find his dirty socks all over the house and he still leaves his laundry in the middle of the bedroom floor, where if I'm not wearing slippers I will stab my feet on his belt buckles. I used to pick it all up, but that did nothing but make me his maid. I nag him, but then I feel like a b***h. I clean the kitchen to where it is spotless and the next morning there will be spilled coffee on the counter and down the cupboard door and on the floor. He just doesn't NOTICE the mess when it happens, because he is lost in thought. I love him dearly but I often wish he would be more aware of his surroundings. I leave two things to him, the garbage take-out and cleaning the toilet, we take turns with the dishes, and everything else I do. I clean the rest of the bathroom, the floors, the clutter on the tables, the laundry, the dusting, and I look after our animals as well. When I have full time hours at work I get a constant twitch in my right eye, like ticking, the optometrist said it was strain. By my standards my house is a constant cluttered mess save for the time immediately after I have a late-night "I'm going to kill everything" cleaning spree, it's just that that only lasts a day and I need to have the energy first.

He has gotten SO MUCH BETTER but....

Unfortunately he was always a messy boy. I wish he would be more considerate and be cleaner too. And he is going to HAVE TO BE, and pick up the slack if you guys want to have kids. You're going to be totes burnt out, and you have to a have a clean house to raise them in. He needs to be the one responsible for that. And yeah that means going to work for 8 to 10 hours a day, then coming home to clean. But you're going to be a 24/7 mommy, and those first 2 years are murder.

Also, considering you have a mental issue about dishes, I should think that ought to be his daily chore then confused I don't care if he doesn't like doing it, he loves you so why should he leave the mental strain/trauma of that for you?
