Amelia noticed the annoyance in his voice. "Hi Russet, I'm Amelia." She said quite happily. She was waiting to get her amazing frozen pancakes. She just finished talking and she stood up randomly and sat back down.

Look, a random filled person... Russet didn't know whether this was better or worse. "Hey." Russet replied blandly. Xavier interrupted the awkward moment. He had found that if he altered his intent to freeze to chill instead, a fresh pancake was actually very receptive to the cold as he wanted. The water was easy, a thought could chill that.
There was a glare. Xavier's, naturally. Russet seemed to contemplating the consequences of breaking his deal. But it was a useless thought.
A plate of frozen pancakes was laid on the table. The girl hadn't ordered anything extra, but Xavier knew which foods went together. Some semi-frozen blueberries and chocolate garnished the plate.

Amelia was glad that she got her pancakes. She was starving. So she decided to just dig in. She forgot all about talking to Russet, and just continued to eat.
Riley:
Riley watched the girl eat. Frozen pancakes. YUM. She got up...and started walking. Riley decided to sit in a booth again, because she was getting uncomfortable.

Russet very well knew that if he didn't take this chance, the Shifter would be mocked by his entire squadron. And I'm a Hunter... So what if anything bad happens?
So the brunet, who knew more about the world than he looked, took the opportunity, since Amelia was ignoring him. He sat on the booth table, fully intentioned to sweat the whole story from Riley if need be.
Russet asked - no, more like stated,"You came here for something."

Riley was confused. She was wondering how he knew this. She sat there calmly, pretending he didn't know what he was talking about. "What do you mean?" She said in the calmest voice that she knew how to make.

The innocent routine might've worked on Russet a time or two (or... five, actually), but someone who was nosing their mind and trying to reel information set off something. He watched her expression, and simply said, "Everyone has a reason. And everyone who's lost is searching. The question is, what?"

Xavier had this feeling. Now the blond knew why. He was being called to duty, to find and accompany the Shifter. For a Hunter search, no less. The girl at the counter was not likely to immediately notice his sudden disappearance, fixated on her food as she was.
And with that, as he walked out of his building, Xavier said to Russet,"I have to leave. Don't let this place burn down in my absence. You are not a child."
Russet knew he'd take it as a personal affront, if the other Eternal disobeyed.
