The light was failing. The power from Learania and its allies was great, powerful enough to halt falling darkness. Even those who had once mocked the idea of faith or of gods found themselves praying. However, there was still something missing; for how can a kingdom hope to be saved if its leader does not contribute to the cause?

As the ground shook and the sky flashed, the two powers that represented Learania and Mordache's will combated one another one final time. The darkness continued to overtake the light and was close to consuming it, when the child's lost hope kicked in. With something to believe in again, his prayers met Ashunera and the power his convictions gave proved to be the most powerful of all. The light fought back and overtook the elder magic, consuming it entirely. With one final flash, the power that Ashunera had collected vanished and left the sky clear of any dark cloud. Learania's will quashed Loki's wrath.

User Image Ali came to as the two powers fought for control. The other Sentrians were fleeing for their lives, but he could barely stand. As his sight cleared, he truly saw the spectacle in the sky. To his surprise... there was a light around him as well. He didn't make anything of it. He just wanted the pain in his head to go away, so that he could find the pain in his a**. As the sky cleared, Ali stared up, amazed. He was sure that he was going to die along with the Learanians. "...Damn."

Just then, the pain in his a** came hopping into sight. Ali looked at Jaren and his eye twitched. "Boy, da ******** you doin' in some sack?! Of all the the ********' things-- Look the ******** around, do you see anybody else tied up in a sack, ********?! How in the heeeeell do you get yo a** into this s**t?!" He shouted like nothing spectacular had even happened. In all honesty, he was happy that Jaren was alright. "Hold the ******** still, I'll cut you out!"

After Ali managed to slice open the burlap, he grabbed Jaren and started running towards the southern gate they had entered the city through. They had to get out of Eyris before the Learanians snapped out of their awe and captured them. As they continued on, Ali turned a corner and skidded to a stop as he saw some familiar faces ahead of him that they had run into before. He wasn't sure where the guy with the bulky armor was, but the red-haired guy and the girl were definitely the ones chasing them earlier. "s**t!"

Ali started to run a different way but stopped when he realized that Jaren wasn't coming. He was still staring at the two Learanians. "Hey!" He didn't get a reaction. "..." Ali glanced at the two people and then back to Jaren. There was some kind of connection between them that Ali didn't know about. "Listen kid, you're either with them or me! Now are you comin' or not?!"

Blossom was still leaning on Derrin's arm as they continued to walk, using her free hand now to hold her sword. She might have pushed herself too hard (again) in their defense against the attempted siege, but she hadn't drained so much energy that she couldn't hold her own sword under her own strength. Under no circumstances would she allow herself to act as dead weight, not unless she were unconscious or literally dead. And if she had any say in that matter, that wasn't about to happen for a long, long time.

They were turning a corner and approaching the castle again when... was that Ali and Jaren? Again? Blossom briefly contemplated finding the two of them again in relatively the same location before shaking off the thought. She had to say something before they ran off!

Except... this time, Jaren lingered, watching them. Blossom approached, standing on her own weight now. "Jaren...?" She watched him for a moment, eyes darting briefly to Ali before looking back to Jaren. "Are... are you going to stay this time?" Another pause, and she gathered herself once more, taking in a deep breath. "Please... d-don't leave. You... you can't keep making Derrin chase after you like this...! And... and I don't want you to leave, either..."

A quiet gulp, and Blossom stared at Jaren, eyes wide. She searched blindly for Derrin's hand, gripping it tightly. "Your friend could... he could come too if he wanted! Just... don't leave again...!"

As the pair left his view, Lance turned and made his way to the walls to the city. He wasn't quite sure what his plan was yet, to be honest. At the moment he was pretty much just improvising as he went on, but sooner or later, he'd need to come up with a game plan.

After scaling a tower to get a better view, he exited onto the walls, looking for any kind of sign as to where the enemy could be...not just soldiers retreating, but any kind of commander...at this point, knocking off random soldiers wasn't going to make much of a difference...

And there he saw them. Looking out at the battlefield from a hill were people that seemed to matter. And suddenly, a completely different plan from his first one unraveled inside him. Lance smirked to himself, as he leapt off the wall, using a quick Impact to soften his descent. He now knew exactly what to do...

Melding into a group of soldiers, Lance approached the knight-looking people, and when close enough, he stretched out his arms upwards, showing pacifism. "Sires! Don't attack, I show no hostility! I'm from Eyris...I have information that could help you still turn this around!"

Its not my fault you can't do anything right

Derrin,
Steadfast

Just leave me alone

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Derrin glared at Lance as the man insulted him. "She can find her own way, she can still walk, and if you ever call me a muppet again and I'll shove a bolt lightning so far up your..." He didn't get a chance to finish since Lance kept talking, leaving Derrin to steam softly until he was done. Even then Derrin didn't get a chance to make a rebuttal since as soon as he opened his mouth Lance spun him around and shoved him after Blossom.

He staggered towards her, this time taking a good look at her condition. He'd been wrong earlier when he said she could make it on her own, looking at her now he knew she wouldn't be able to get anywhere especially not to the castle by herself. Even if she had the physical capability how would she react to being left alone?

"Hahaha nice going smooth stuff, nearly ditch the wounded girl who's seen her friends die today. Aren't you a nice guy, always thinking about others?"

He hung his head ashamed of himself, when a sudden pressure on his forearm made him look straight into the confused face of Blossom. "H-he'll be fine. We should go" he felt heat rise to his face as he began to lead her through the streets. His mind however wasn't on where they were going, instead it was on the girl clutching his arm.

"She's so warm... and she's shaking... is she scared? I should hug her... I could hold her and tell her everything's going to be all right. That's what a good man would do." Trembling he turned slightly as if to take her into his arms to comfort her.

"What do you think you're doing? You comfort her? Don't make me laugh, the instance you take her into an embrace she'll KNOW. She'll feel your sickness, not of the body any more, but of the soul. You can only drag her down with you." His inner voice was right, he was worthless. Derrin turned away and kept walking in silence.

It wasn't long before he turned a fateful corner and stopped dead in his tracks.

Super Awesome Swordsman;
Jaren Degriess!

I'm the HERO of JUSTICE

LOVE ME!

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. Jaren laughed as Ali freed him from the confines of the wicked burlap prison. "This is all in a days work for the Hero of Justice Ali!" He exclaimed. Jaren ran alongside Ali towards the gate, "You know this is the first time I've ever invaded anything before, Ali! I have to say it's been not so very enjoyable! Maybe we should have a chat with Drake when we get..." Jaren trailed off as he slowed to a stop. A flash of red at the corner of his eye had caused his pause, Derrin was at the end of a street that ran perpendicular to the one that Ali had been leading Jaren down.

The mage and the myrmidon simply stared at each other for a moment.

"Listen kid, you're either with them or me! Now are you comin' or not?!"

Jaren still paused as if he couldn't make up his mind. Blossom was trying to sway his decision and Derrin was still standing like a deer in headlights. Until Blossom found his hand however, Jaren was aware that he relaxed noticeably the moment her hand encircled his.

Jaren spoke, "Oh wow Derrin! Are you and her dating now?! Congra--" The rock struck Jaren right in between the eyes and he stumbled back holding his face.

"She's not my girlfriend you idiot." Derrin said standing back up from bending over, his hand finding Blossom's again, "But I'll tell you all about that when I catch up to you again. I can see you're busy doing... whatever the hell it is you do. So go do it and then come back to being a royal pain in my neck." The Mage's hand squeezed Blossom's again looking for some kind of support from her.

Jaren had listened to this, rubbing his face where a bruise was sure to form. Now he smiled his big grin again, "Of course Derrin! Bye Blossom, take care of him for me okay?" And with that Jaren walked towards Ali.

"I trust you Ali!" He said with a smile. "Let's go."

"Every story has its scar..."

User ImageThe fact that Jaren had to sit down and consider all of this was... not promising, to say the least. Blossom tightened her grip a little, opening her mouth again. "Jaren, you--"

"Oh, wow, Derrin! Are you and her dating now?! Congra--"

From nervous to flustered in two seconds flat, Blossom's face turned red so fast that it was a surprise it hadn't been literally lit ablaze. Her? Derrin? Dating? She stammered indignantly and moved to hide her face. Why would Jaren even think that? All she had done was grab his hand, she needed the reassurance and... o-oh. Wait. That was why he'd thrown the rock. Derrin reached over and took her hand again, and she squeezed gently, face still bright red, enough so to match her scarf.

"I can see you're busy doing... whatever the hell it is you do. So go do it and then come back to being a royal pain in my neck."

Blossom looked up at Derrin, eyes wide, and turned to face Jaren. "Is that... w-wait, we can't... just..."

"Of course, Derrin! Bye, Blossom, take care of him for me, okay?" Blossom opened her mouth, ready to retort, and... closed it again, staying silent. Her eyes stayed on Jaren as she leaned against her sword, blade tip pressed to the ground, with her free hand. The Hero turned back to Derrin. The red coloration had faded from her face, but the look of shock remained, still gripping onto his hand to keep steady. Her legs seemed to be buckling slightly by this point, putting more weight against her broadsword and Derrin's arm as time passed with them standing still. "Are... you sure about this? You know him better than I do..."
"...and every scar has its story."

For once, Epimetheus was speechless. Even Vern was noticeably in shock. The technique Loki taught them was supposed to be unbeatable and yet Learania somehow managed to do it. Vern blinked and then whispered to Epimetheus. "Say goodbye to your brother. I don't think you'll be seeing him for much longer..."

The red knight grit his teeth angrily at Vern and then glanced at his brother, concerned. "Mende..."

Mendeleeve shook. He had been put in charge of this assault. He had failed. He knew the Baroness didn't like failure. He slowly turned his head and moved his shaking eyes over to her. "Baroness... ...I-I...!"

Charolais

She remained curiously quiet for a while. Her face was blank. she made no reaction to the defeat of their ultimate attack. As Mendelevee began to mutter, she shut her eyes.

"Mendeleeve... Stop talking. If you don't..." Her eyelids slowly parted and revealed a deadly gaze at the man. "I vill kill you." She grinned slightly and then looked away from him. "I vill deal vith your failure, later. For now, zere are things we need to retrieve. You may have failed, but ve shall not be leaving empty handed. I vill have my prizes."

She snapped her fingers. "Epimetheus, darling. Take a unit and search for ze noteworthy ones. Ze rest of you, search ze manor. Ze most important prize of all lies within." She glanced over to Vern. "And Vern darling... do take care. I vill look forward to vhen ve are reunited." She grinned and then turned her horse about. "Do hurry. Ve vill retreat at once. It vould be vise for you to leave before our enemies reach zis place."

The Baroness then took her leave, accompanied by an armed escort. The officers quickly went about their business and the order to fall back spread rapidly through the ranks. Mordache's force had been holding back Estarcia and Adliana, but were now sounding retreat. The siege on Eyris had failed. Mordache accepted its defeat... Learania was victorious.

Charolais entered her coach and was soon on her way back to Mordache. "You may continue to survive, Learania... for now."

User ImageSonghua and the other plainsmen had joined Estarcia's force and were fiercely fighting their way to where the Mordachean commanders were. They were slowly progressing, but the enemy was still strong in numbers, even with the combined effort. When Mordache's frightening attack was defeated, the morale of all allied troops greatly boosted. "Hwa ha ha! They cannot break us! Onward brothers! Drums! I want them louder! Let their sound shake our enemies' souls! Haaa!"

The fighting continued and victory was at hand. Eventually, Mordache sounded its retreat and the desired victory was confirmed! As the soldiers fell back, Songhua watched proudly. He raised his sword in the air and cheered. "Victory!! Haaaaa!" All around him, the other nomads joined in the cheering. Estarcia troops were surely rejoicing as well. Songhua turned and looked back at Eyris, smiling widely. "...Thank goodness."

James

Take me home, to the land of my fathers...

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. He watched. The boy stared into the sky, awestruck at what happened. There was such a thing as hope. Faith did have the power to change things. Maybe believing that was not childish at all, but in fact a real truth of life.

James stepped forward as he watched the goddess. It was because of her that they were all able to be alive, but he had no idea who she was. Had she always been with them? Why had she never appeared before? He had no many questions for their savior, but somehow his throat felt heavy. He didn't even know if his little voice would even be able to be heard. And it wasn't everyday that one talked to a deity... well, face to face, anyway.

The King paused in his steps, but gulped and then took one more forward as he looked up at the goddess with wide eyes. "...Who are you?"

~Far better it is to have a stout heart always and suffer one's share of evils, than to be ever fearing what may happen.~
~By the honorable name of Caelin, we will never fail! You’ll taste the power of our knights, like cold steel in your mouth!~

Wallace

Having somehow gotten lost, again, Wallace wandered the streets of Eyris. He had long since lost track of the small Hero and the scrawny red robed Mage. When the meteor appeared in the sky above the city he sighed "At least I was able to fight in one last battle..." When the meteor was destroyed he shook his head and smiled. "Wherever I am it is a strange place, but it seems I am to remain here for at least a little while longer. Now Learania shall here the name of Wallace knight commander of Caelin! All those who do evil in this land shall fear the very whisper of my name, they will run when they see the glint of the sunlight off my spear, and they shall fall before my might!" After his monologue he ran down the street in search of a foe worthy of his spear.

She was little more than a pile of robes by that point. As the embers of light and shadow fell down around them in a scene of resolution, she collected herself and stood to face the King. Her hood had fallen back, kind eyes alight in the fall of the final climax.

Ashunera said nothing. She only smiled as fragments of her body turned to radiant quintessence and crumbled in the wind, fleeing for another realm where she might rest. The goddess dipped her head as if in acknowledgment of Learania's strength, and then she was gone, leaving just a shadow of her divine presence.

The departure of the goddess left the king to stare into the sky in awe. He was accompanied by many. All around the city, people were looking up, amazed by the spectacle that had occured, thankful that they were able to keep their lives. Some seemed to know who the goddess was, most did not. Her timely appearance is what saved them all and for once in a long time, the people had another deity in which they could believe in, one they could help them. They were not alone.

News that Mordache was retreating caused an uproar of cheering in the streets. Archers watched from the walls, never thinking they would ever see their enemy marching away from them. At the main gate, Adlians and Learanians met each other with smiles, like the reuniting of long-lost friends. Healers hurried on with a great burden lifted, knowing that there would be no more people getting injured. The task of healing was also greatly alivieted by the contribution from Elder Kusume, whose magic went a long way in healing the injured from all three allied countries.

However, while there was celebration from the victory, there was also sorrow. Many people had died in the battle. Citizens, soldiers, officers of both the Watch and the army... and members of the guild were lost. They were loyal comrades, strong warriors, and beloved. Their names would never be forgotten. What they fought for would not be for nothing. For while they were lost, new allies were gained. Learania, Adliana and Estarcia were now allied nations that together would be able to combat Mordache and Sentria. The Great eyris Siege did not mark the end of the war as Mordache had hoped. Instead, it marked that the war had really just begun.

As the last of Mordache's troops rode out of sight, the sun shined down brightly upon Eyris as a promise that even when things grow dark, the clouds will eventually part and light will return. It was something told in children's stories, something that had grown to be seen as unrealistic. But it is real; it is an enternal truth. The guild always knew, they had faced advertisity and conquered many times before. And they did it together, for together... they will always ride.
