So. Guess what I'm doing right now? biggrin
Okay. Bad joke-like thing. Point is, procrastination is an evil, evil thing. What are your favorite ways to procrastinate? (Don't say you don't procrastinate. We all do it. And if not, you're a saint, and I'm insanely jealous.)

Uhg, I procrastinate all the time... Some of the time I'm here. Being part of a writing group is such an encouragement, and so I tell myself I'm just 'building up' my excitement to write. I'll also sit on my bed listening to my favorite music, with a pen and pad in hand to write any new ideas down. So, technically, I am working on my story, but I have enough that I should actually start writing. Or researching. And once a week I watch Castle online.

[/freakout] I procrastinate too...T.T Internet doesn't help, but I really do need dictionary/thesaurus.com to keep me company while I write....

The internet or Uni work are my biggest flaws at the moment. I turn off the internet and try to write but realise I need to research something or get a new name. I need to invest in a baby name book haha!

Desert and SugarRos, that goes for me to.
First of all, baby naming sites are so much more convenient cause you can search for names by origin and country- which is helpful cause sometimes I need that specification, and it filters out all the weird other-country names that I can't pronouce.
I love thesaurus. It saves me the ten minutes it would take to think of another word, and it usually has better results anyway.
Oh, and a new episode of Castle has been posted on Hulu. I need to find my mom so we can watch it! Yes! Did you watch this episode: "That can only mean one thing... Time traveling killer!"

I LOVED THAT EPISODE.
-Cough- Sorry. I'm a huge fan of Castle. What's the new one on Hulu? We've been missing some of the episodes, and I need to catch up. Last one I saw was the Triple Kiler. (I think.)
I used to have a thesaurus/dictionary widget on my laptop that didn't need internet, and it worked marvelously, but since I'm on my dad's computer, I have to go online for that. Then there's solitaire (187 games, 6 won is my stats for just this month.), Neopets, the forums on here, writing other stories, and the random name generator. Offline, there's DDR, various video games… when I'm desperate, I can procrastinate by doing anything. xD

I actually got into the series late, so I missed all of the first season and quite a bit of the second, but I'm in so much love with the series.
Not a huge shock, really, because I'm a HUGE fan of Firefly. smile
And Castle's murder theories are the best parts of that show. XD

Oh, I feel bad for replying so late. We actually have a conversation going on here (as far as the activity of this guild is concerned).
Chezhire, I hope you already checked out Hulu- two new episodes have been posted since 3XK and they were marvelous. Even though I think the relationship between Ashley and Alexis is corny (I admittedly don't like that guy anyway). SugarRos, I have not seen Firefly. And I don't think I should look it up cause I already watch way too many shows.
I don't like random name generators... but, everything else is nice. I remember neopets! Geez, my poor pets have been starving for years!
I actually put aside some of my procrastination today! And not just on my story either. I also finally decided on a time period (yay for the regency era) so if I get stuck in my writing, I can at least do some hard core research. No more sitting around like a lame duck.

The Internet will be my greatest downfall. .___. I don't think I ever get anything done while I have it on hand! Especially Gaia. I could sit and refresh a page for an hour if I wanted to avoid doing something badly enough. =/

@Neuschwanstein: I adore random name generators. I don't actually use them for my characters most of the time- it's just funny to see what they want to name your beloved character. You wouldn't believe some of the names that come up!
@PMS: The internet has to be most everyone's downfall! xD I'm lucky in that I don't surf the forums on Gaia, and the only places I go to are my guilds. Besides, it's just like it BEGS you to procrastinate on it.

Oh geez, if I didn't stick to the guilds on gaia, I would never get anything done. Yes, the internet is definintely my downfall, which is ironic because I still need it to research. Uhg. Of course, its not like I actually do any researching. I need to look up the Edwardian Era. In my last post, I said I was going to stick with the regency era. Well, I'm in the Edwardian Era now (1900-1910 something like that).
Speaking of character names, do you often change them? And do you have trouble doing it? I think I want to change a character's last name, which he's had for over a year. Its not really part of his identity, but I still feel an adversion to changing it.
Now I'm going to go foolishly spend some cash.

Ah, research. That's one thing the internet's good for when you're writing. I try to stick to books about it, though- on the net it's too tempting to go off and play solitaire or something.
Changing my character's name... once I decide on a name for my characters, I never change it unless I decide that it really doesn't fit. Normally when I create a character it's like they're already a person, set up and ready to be put in a story, names and personality and all. I find it hard to change a name once it's been decided on.

I'm the same as Chez (still gotta love that nickname ninja ). Once my characters are named, they tend to stay that way unless there are any major problems with the name, though that usually doesn't happen. I often spend far too long naming my characters, finding names that I like or that I think are appropriate, so usually once the novel begins there isn't any reason to change them.
Research, research. God, it can take so much effort! What would we do without the internet? Actually, I do love some good old-fashioned paperback research - the problem lies in having the resources. I'm tempted, while I'm at uni, to make use of the historical resources in our library, because I feel like it might be worthwhile, but at the same time there are just so many books! Research on the internet is much more fruitful in much less time. xd
I stick to the guilds on Gaia, and maybe one or two threads in the WF. And I still spend far too many hours online every day. If the place was more active it wouldn't be so embarrassing, but as it is I spend all of my time refreshing pages I've posted on and hoping that somebody will respond. >_> That makes me sound sad, but whatever. I just have a lot of procrastination problems. talk2hand Haha.

I try to do everything I can creatively do and then if that doesn't work I watch tv. However, the urge to write can be too great and I can easily cave in.
