Resurrected because we have a release date for TaleSpin & DuckTales - 13th November. I shall be sorting my pre-order shortly. Still no news on Chip 'n' Dale.

DW

Editted because I am apparently incapable of reading numbers properly. This must be a concern in my current line of work...

Not dvd related, but I was just wondering if anybody else out there has checked out any of the Gargoyles comics. Wish I could say I've kept up with them, but I haven't gotten an issue since the first one. <<;;

But anywho, it is a pretty interesting series, or at least it looks like it's interesting. : p Lots of stuff that I've seen in it that's making me go "Disney's actually ALLOWING this?! o.O".

I've only read the first two, but I've been getting the same feelings. The team seem not only to be keeping the feel of the original series but managing to take it further.

Disney have released their press release for "DuckTales" (although apparently not yet for TaleSpin):

Some nice box art there - although if I were Scrooge, I wouldn't be looking so happy. The triplets are *definitely* up to something smile

Prices are looking pretty good too - RRP 34.99 of your US dollars. At the current exchange rates I'm going "kerching!" - especially since I imagine Deep Discount and places like that won't be selling at retail price. *rubs hands*

On a different note, for once we in the UK are not having to wait ages for a release that came out Stateside. Disney's 40th anniversary special edition of "Jungle Book" on DVD comes out next week in the US, but only next month in the UK. Not bad at all. Still, it's rather too near my parents' birthdays for me to be able to afford to wait. One joint birthday present coming up...

Just a quick post to say I have my copy of "DuckTales", even before it's out, yay! And the first episode is entitled "Duck to the Future". That sounds like gold! biggrin

DW

EDIT: It was. Webbi was married to Doofus?? The nephews went into business with Magica de Spell and formed Magica McDuck Industries??

Some other great episodes on the first disc too. Much more Magica than previously, which is always good. References to Lord of the Rings & Lovecraft, too. And one of my favourite ever episodes, where Magica casts a spell on McDuck Manor to make everyone's worse fears come true - culminating in Uncle Scrooge disowning the nephews and the nephews chucking their uncle out of the house... Fantastic! biggrin

Yep, I've gone all squee again biggrin biggrin biggrin

Lovecraft references?
Do tell.

Lovecraft references?
Do tell.

Scrooge was searching for this ugly idol called the "Mask of Cthululu"...

The LOTR reference was Magica chanting "One dime to rule them all, one dime to find them!" then cackling maniacally.

Oh and I've now got to the introduction of Gizmoduck to Duckberg. There's a point where he says "Of course, you know *this* means a skirmish!" Warners, take a bow, please.

Watching Giz's first episodes suddenly makes me realise exactly why Darkwing & Gizmoduck do *not* get along. They're far too much alike; both have a flair for flamboyance, both like to get noticed and both have an "ego the size of a small planet".

BTW, although I haven't had time to watch yet, "TaleSpin" arrived this week. It contains one of the "banned" episodes, so there's hope that if and when the third & presumably final DVD set comes out (there were only 65 episodes), that will contain the last ever episode and the one Disney hasn't shown in donkeys' years. I think it's something to do with a terrorist plot in Cape Suzette.
