Do you ever find it hard to hang out with God when you've got other things on your mind? I hate myself because I want to hang out with God but I guess it seems like nobody wants to talk about Him. I guess I miss it. It's easier to forget when nobody reminds you except on Sunday. I know I need to hang out with God more, and I want to. It's just hard between work, and TV? and family stuff. Any suggestions? Any stories of times you hung out wuth Him, and really good stuff happened?

I know the feeling, Daeriel-- sometimes it is hard to "remember" (how it is possible to forget I may never know....) And it is frustrating when no one else seems to want to when you do remember. But that shouldn't stop you from hanging out with Him; sometimes, the best time you can spend with Him is in quiet prayer, or by yourself so no one will interrupt you for talking to the clouds/ceiling/whatever happens to be above you (I've been known to do this... but that's just me sweatdrop ).
As much as I try to spend real, quality time with God every day, what I really look forward to every year is Camp Edisto-- a week-long, residential Christian camp held not far from my home. Camp was the first place I was exposed to the idea of having a "personal relationship" with Christ, and not surprisingly, it was where I came to accept Him as my personal savior (as opposed to "I came, I saved the world, I went home"). But that's my story-- hang out with God for a week, and I'm now His for eternity!!
*runs off, singing* I am my beloved's and He is mine...!

I'm afrade I don't quite understand what you mean. God's always with me. Basicly none of my friends are christain, no one in my family actually shows any interest in religion. and because of this i have been unable to go to church for a while. But I never need to find time to "hang out" with God because He's always there with me. Whenever I wake up late and have 20 minutes to get to my bus in the morning, but it shows up 2 minutes late and I get to school on time, I thank God as if I could see Him next to me, helping me not to drop my guitar as i run. Or when I'm at work and the knife slips. He's there with me to make sure I dont cut off my finger. Or when I'm watching the news, and I hear about all the bad things going on in the world, Gods there with me reminding me that not everyone's like that, and that i'll be with Him soon and won't have to worry. This is not to say that you dont need to take a moment now and then thats just for Him, because he IS always there with you and you should thank him for that. But you're never not "hanging out" with God as long as you remember him and know he loves you.

I know what you mean Soul_Streak, its hard to say God is not with us constantly because He is allways with us. But sometimes, we are not with Him. We get rapped up in our daily lives and forget about Him except when certain events happen to remind us He is there. What bbydaeriel93 probably means is that she has a hard time seting aside time devoted only to God. This period of time that you "hang out" with God is very important. It helps us grow in Him and structure our thoughts and lifes to please Him. I can relate to not being able to devote this time spend time with God and what I realized is that you have to make time. Sit down and come up with a reasonable schedule in which you may make time to study His word or talk with Him. This can be hard if your life is pretty busy, (something I struggle with), but it is something that is necessary to our growth in Him and adds more structure to our lives as well. This is something very important and should be done by all Christians, but can be very hard to do because of the fact that we live such busy lifestyles. I urge all of you to try setting aside some time with God daily, it helps a lot.

hmm, well maybe if you put post-it notes all around your bathroom mirror or your room reminding you to spend time with him that might help.

I know what ya' mean... I often find myself distracted or just "Not in the mood." I used to meditate and think or even just talk with God aloud as I am shooting or practicing my sword steps... I often find it easier to talk with God while listening to music or doing something physical.
MY favorite music to listen to while hanging out with God is classic rock, E Nomine, and P.O.D. (alot of their songs are talking about their walk with God and their trust in him... listen and hear it in your soul not on MTV)

Every night I read my Bible, write in my Journal, and then just spend a long time talking to God about my day and what I am going through. That is my "official" time with God. But besides that, I must pray at least twenty times a day for renewed strength and joy, or maybe the right answer to a spiritual question, or help in reining in my temper. It is just so awesome to know that you always have the most awesome friend that you can talk to anywhere at anytime. I have seen some pretty amazing things during my walk with God, and I am only fifteen! Just little things, as if evidence that He is really still there watching over me.
Then of course there are those times where I just can't seem to take life anymore, and start blaming God for being unfair. During those times, when I am angry at someone or God, I find it hard to ask His forgiveness and start from scratch. That is the worst hindrance to my times with God. I guess I'm lucky I don't have cable. whee

Before entering college, I had an intimate, excellent relationship with God. I knew on my vacations that college would change everything, and sadly, it did. It's not that I don't pray, but I don't pray as fervently as I used to. It's not that I don't read the Bible, but I don't read it as much as I used to.
There's hope, though. God is waiting on us, every single day for us to come to Him. He's waiting to hear from us in prayer, to speak to us through reading His Word, to bless us if we obey Him.
I'm starting to work my way back, to cut time on a lot of things so I can get the relationship I used to have with the Father. It's going to be hard: I don't doubt it, but it's possible. I don't even have two years in faith, yet God has done great things in me... and I'm sure He will continue working on me.
