"Yes, we do seem rare. It's rather sad that our kind is so cut off from each other. That there are those of us that have met so few of our own kind." Adira turned to watch the rain fall and wondered how many other Phims were out there.
Adira brought her attention back to her charge and smiled. "I'm glad you wish to come." She said happily, smiling at Zuri warmly. "A search? I would love to join you. Nothing of any interest really happens in this forest. I would enjoy your company, and I hope I can actually help while we're looking for others of our kind."

Zuri thought about what Adira had said and realized it was pretty sad just how cut off from each other their kind was. That, or there were just so few of them. Either way, Zuri knew there were other 'phims out there somewhere and she wanted to connect with them in some way. Even if it was just a sighting, at least she would know they existed. With Adira helping her, she was sure they would find the others. Wherever they were.
"I'm sure you will be of help." Zuri chuckled warmly. "You seem to have a good eye at finding others. You find me, didn't you?" And Zuri was still very thankful that she had. But a second set of eyes would also be helpful at finding other things such as food and shelter. So far, there didn't seem to be a downside to adding Adira as a travel buddy.

Adira chuckled softly. "I don't know about that; you weren't too hard to find. That was one of the loudest landings I've ever seen." She teased gently. Adira normally had a very bubbly personality, but she was trying to stay sedate, not wanting to hurt the other fox.
Adira curled her tail around Zuri and smiled. She was looking forward to spending time with the other Phim. Meeting more of her own kind would merely be a plus as far as the Mohawk-ed Phim was concerned.

Although she knew Adira was just teasing her, Zuri couldn't help but flinch at the mention of her horrible landing accident. The fact that Adira had been able to hear her 'land' over that wretched storm reminded Zuri just how badly the fall had been. Glancing outside the small cave, Zuri curled her tail around Adira's a little tighter, feeling the fear of storms creeping in.
"Thankful fear is such an odd feeling." Zuri said as she thought about the fear she was feeling. "On one hand, I'm terrified of the storm outside and being thrown around again, but on the other, I'm thankful that it happened. Terrified, but thankful. Such a weird combination, don't you think?" Although she knew it sounded like it had nothing or little to do with Adira's previous statement, it tied in well in her mind. Zuri mentally groaned at her lack of conversational skills.

Adira frowned slightly at the flinch and figured her teasing was a bit too soon. Her frowned deepened a bit more at the odd speech. On further reflection, though, Adira thought she could see Zuri's point.
"I didn't even go out in that storm much, and I'm afraid of going out there and getting blown around too. At the same time I like the fact that I met you and that only happened because of the storm. I think I understand what you mean, Zuri, thankful fear." Adira said. Turning to the other Phim she smiled gently. "But you don't have to go out in that storm. We're safe in here together, I promise."

Zuri stretched her wings for a few minutes, letting the breeze blow through them, before gently lifting herself off the ground. It was her turn to go find food for the day and she was determined to bring back something good. Her body still ached a bit from the horrible crash she had take a few weeks prior but she was, for the most part, better than ever.
It didn't take her long to find a few good fruit trees and she quickly picked off the ripened fruit, resisting the urge to snack on a few of them before she made it back to Adira.
Ah, Adira. The phim that had saved her life and that had been a great friend to her since. From the first night they had met, Zuri had felt a connection with the Phim but now, she felt more than a connection. She felt like she was falling in love. As cheesy as it made her feel, she was falling in love with her hero and best friend.
The thoughts of Adira rushed Zuri along in her fruit finding and she flew back to the cave they had adopted with zest.
"Adira!" She called out cheerfully. "I'm back with food!"
