It could not be helped if the cursed one would not leave. He would have to keep fighting until he ran or until Soft Wind was defeated. 'I can't die here... Acere!' thoughts rushed through his mind as he avoided the snapping jaw of his opponent.

Another blitz forward- he must hit! Soft Wind ran with his horns once again pointed and struck. Another wound marked the side of the Di'Taki. No more warnings. Soft Wind readied himself for another attack.

(HP: 7. Is HP 0 death or just the end of the battle?)

There wasn't a hiss upon the tearing of flesh this time, but a scream. He shrieked in agony, reeling back. Blinded by pain now, he zig-zagged around the Adahy, lashing at his flanks with his claws. Fadefeather could feel the satisfying warmth on his knobbly hands as he dug into the defender.

He cried out in pain as the Di'Taki scratched deeply into his side, drawing a heavy amount of blood. He looked around panicked, trapped in the circle laid out by the Di'Taki. He was not going to sit there idly! Soft Wind jumped over his opponent, kicking his body as he went for higher ground. It wasn't an attack, but it seemed to have done some damage.

Fadefeather's eyes widened as the Adahy nimbly leaped over him - he had to admit, that was quite a move! He lashed out with his claws as Soft Wind's belly flew over him, but left only a little scratch as he was knocked in the side by a well-timed kick.

Soft Wind flinched as he was scratched mid-jump. However it was nothing like his wound on his side so he brushed it off. Now uphill he expected to use it to his advantage- he spotted a boulder, around the size of a Adahy and heaved. It was rather convenient and would have done much damage.

Seeing the boulder roll on a carved path in the hill, destroying much of the shrubbery in it's path, Soft Wind loudly cursed as it rolled far away from the Di'Taki. So much for that plan.

(6/15)

Fadefeather gave another shrill shriek as the boulder began to roll, threatening to utterly crush him. But...wait, where was it going? After a moment he relaxed and watched silently as the massive rock thundered by, not even scratching him. That worked out well...for him.

Seeing the Adahy was distracted, he rocketed up the hill, swiping at his opponent's maw. "Let everyone know how well you've been trounced, Adahy!"

He fell back as the Di'Taki hit him. He was losing- he hadn't been able to get a hit, at least not a meaningful one and he was loosing blood faster than he could react. His next attack had to hit! Soft Wind aimed carefully, in fact, possibly too careful. While he had aimed to hit the Di'Taki in the side his blow was too slow to do any lasting damage. Damn!

"You won't win this fight!"

(5/15)

He bellowed harshly as the opponent faltered, his blow glancing from his bloodied side. Immediately, the Di'taki retaliated, striking at Soft Wind's chest. A sarcastic hiss escaped from the male's maw, "I think that's where you're wrong, friend!" He could feel the sharp lacerations all over his body, filling him with a terrible pain, but Fadefeather ignored it - the battle at hand held his attention like a spider watching a struggling fly.

Was... the world moving beneath his feet? Soft Wind growled and forced himself conscious. He was losing and he knew it, and so did the Di'Taki. He flung himself forward in a desperate attempt and almost cried in joy as he tasted his opponent's blood. He would not lose; if he lost it could mean death! He would not lose everything just after he found something to live for again.

There wasn't a sound as the final blow connected - only a soft gurgle, as Fadefeather's right foreleg was gashed by the Adahy's jaws. No, he couldn't keep on. His vision was blurred, his body was screaming for rest. The Di'taki staggered, hissing, ears pressed back against his skull. He would have to retreat. Slowly he backed away from the enemy, head ducked defensively. "Quite a good fight, sir," he growled, blinking to try and clear his vision, "Perhaps we can spar again soon, eh?" His posture remained unfriendly as he tried to press back into the woods.

That was it, he couldn't go much farther... What was happening? Was the Di'Taki going back to attack again? He could no longer see what was happening, no longer hear or comprehend his surroundings. Soft Wind fell to his knees, his eyes dulled over as he looked towards the floor. He was going to die without help. Maybe another Adahy would come, alerted from the sounds of the fight.

Acere.

His heart pounded in his ears. He had to wake up. Stay alive. Soft Wind looked up at his opponent but could not see him. He stood on his feet once more and gave a growl as threatening as he could and in a last effort, he roared. The trees shook as the animals in them ran. Hopefully other Adahy will hear him and maybe the Di'Taki would leave as well.

Fadefeather could make out...something. A roar, a terrible roar. Immediately he turned tail and fled, albeit slowly, his pain and leg and everything hindering him and making him uncoordinated. He felt that this was the right way - and hoped it was. Around him he could hear the blood rushing in his ears. Finally he came to a stop. How far had he traveled? How long had it been? He couldn't tell.

But there was one thing he could tell. It was time for rest. The Di'taki crumpled into a ball at the base of a bush, his sides rising and falling quickly. No farther.

"Damn look what happened to you!"

... what? Soft Wind looked towards the sound. Who was there... what had they said?

"Seems like you had some dangerous fun there buddy."

Oh. Him. He gave a sigh and relaxed his body. At least he knew that he was going to live. "Shut up and help me already."

"Woah Mr. Snippy!" a laugh, "I told you not to be afraid to attack but damn! You suck at this job- you know you're not supposed to dodge right?"

Soft Wind growled.

"Ok, ok, got it. Let me help you up." The Adahy slowly went to the side of Soft Wind and assisted him onto his four feet. "It'll take a while to get back to the tribe. Here's hoping you survive the walk."

Slowly the left the scene. Soft Wind did not remember his walk back to the tribe but the battle was clear in his memory. This shameful battle was not something that he would forget.
