While the founding fathers were clearly poofters, the rugged American sock has given way for the metrosexual xenoestrogen laced sperm killer. The same has happened to T-shirts (now cut more more girls, because it's cheaper to manufacture), long sleeve shirts, and blue jeans (which now tear like paper, when they used to be good for avoiding Barbwire and insect bites).

I think all of that has to do with cheaper materials and cheap sweatshop labor. It's all about the bottom line, man.
