I'd have to say the reunion at the Cleyra Settlement between Fratley and Freya. Yes, no one died, but think about this: Freya must have had some serious past ties with Fratley to have went out to scour the world to find him. And then, when she finally finds him, she finds out that while she still remembers her past with him, he remembers nothing of his own past, including her. For her, it must have been like all of everything she had with him was all for nothing, that the man she loved so dearly couldn't even remember anything about what they shared.
To be forgotten is worse than death.
