It had started as whispered speculations between the servants, whispers that most had ignored at first because no one believed them of Ka'dairihn. Min'hyvair had been skeptical that Ka'da had actually had the audacity to make any advances towards the healer, Yallinda. And yet, the more she watched the two of them the more she saw the changes in both of them. The awkward silences..embarrassed looks and the trying to avoid one another at all costs.

It was becoming all to clear to Min'hyvair that her brother had fallen and fallen hard for the healer. This did not really bode well for both of them; should her sisters realize what was going on. With Ka'da departing on his mission, Yallinda would be at the mercy of her lecherous sisters..that was just not acceptable. If Min'hyvair didn't care so much for her brother she probably would have kept out of the whole matter. But as it was, she still had a part of herself that clung to the old memories of looking at him like a hero and there was really only one thing she could do.

She had to reach out to the healer and let the woman know of the peril she would be in. And to somehow convince the woman, Min would do whatever she could to aid her in the House politics. As well as help keep her alive and out of the over eager clutches of her viperous sisters.

Min'hyvair resolved to write out a message, and send it secretly to the healer. It was just..how to send it. She ended up smuggling it in a small bundle of herbs that she had retrieved from the marketplace. No one really would think much of a healer receiving herbs, even if they were from the House poisoner.

Yallinda-
I would like to meet with you about a medical affliction. Reveal this to no one. Meet me in my private quarters after hours for privacy.
Min'hyvair, House Poisoner

User ImageYallinda was going to miss her Rihn so much! She could already feel the urge to sulk overcoming her. She had faith that her black knight would follow through with his task and perform it in a superior manner. What concerned her was in fact the Matron. If she intended to be cruel she could pick apart his performance, deem he had performed in a unsatisfactory matter. Then she would be forced to marry the Weapons Master or whoever else the Matron felt was a suitable match for keeping her here. Ugh! She wanted her Rihn back NOW!

When the small pack of herbs was delivered, Yallinda was vaguely confused. She did not recall having ordered them after all. Perhaps it was part of a order that had been split in two due to the supply being low or something? Yallinda took the herbs and started to sort out a place for them in her bag. It was as she was adding the herbs to her already abundant supply that she finally decided to read the note. Well! This was different!

Perhaps the Poisoner had accidentally poisoned herself. That would be a terribly embarrassing situation, and Yallinda could understand the need for privacy concerning the matter. So, she packed up her healers bag and waited for the appropriate time to make her way to Min's room. She fussed a bit with her cloths and hair on the way. Mostly to set at ease the feeling she currently felt. Somehow facing one whose art was literally the opposite of her own made her feel like she was going to meet a rival! Tsking herself over such foolish thoughts, Yallinda knocked firmly on Min's door.

Min'hyvair's day went by rather swiftly without too many distractions. One would think she'd be contemplating the upcoming meeting with the healer and how she would word things, but Min was completely absorbed in her work. She boiled, brewed, stewed, and mixed concoctions to her heart's content for hours on end. Finally when the hour was nearing did she start cleaning up her work space and putting things away.

Washing and cleaning always calmed her and gave her a moment to contemplate future events. This time was no different. With her hands deep in hot soapy water as she sterilized and cleaned out her pots and beakers she began to plot.

She's a cautious thing, and seems somewhat flighty. Though I think she'd do anything if it ensures she gets Ka'da as her own. Min mused.
It may all be an act though. I think she's tougher than others take her to be. She'll definitely be tenacious and strong willed once Ka'da is hers and hers alone to order around. She'll definitely be good for him despite that. Ka'da might be strong willed and all but I doubt he'd even mind her bossing him around. You can tell by the way he looks at her. He admires her hidden strengths and her play acting ways. Those two are definitely meant for each other.

How should I go about talking to her about my true reason for wanting her here?
Min mused after a moment. Let's see. Yes, of course. If I am straight forward and honest with her that may just be the way to do it. Of course she will ask what my motive is for doing this. I wonder if I should tell her now about my plans for those self absorbed vipers. We'll see how things go.

Her plans finished, and her thoughts sorted Min cleaned the rest of the dishes, emptied her sink and went about cleaning herself up for the meeting. She was halfway into her regular clothes when a firm knock sounded on her door. She finished pulling her corset closed and wrapped her shawl around her shoulders sliding across the floor to the door.

"You may enter Healer Yallinda." Min'hyvair said in a low respectful tone opening the door for the other female.

Yallinda had to mentally acknowledge there was a severe difference in how Min treated her in compare to the rest of the Matrons daughters. That difference was without a doubt troubling. It could mean a great many things of course, but for the way wise Yallinda it usually meant that there was a clear and present danger lurking here. So it was without question that Yallinda viewed Min as the most dangerous of all the Daughters. Couple that with her profession and Yallinda honestly felt that in due time she was going to find her inexplicably poisoned. As a precaution she had taken to wearing a great variety of anti-venom. There was the traditional vial tucked into the curl of her belt. A pin joint of her brassier was in fact a tiny needle injection tool in case she was rendered incapable of swallowing the cure. Then there was the earring in her left ear that had a bezor stone worked into the design, so if worse came to it and she could not discern what poison had been used she could slip that under her tongue. Then of course the flower decoration in her hair was dusted with a powder meant to be inhaled that would counteract any poison drawn into her lungs. The only thing she wasn't prepared against was something that paralyzed her, but that was what the Slow Poison prayer she prepared every morning was for. Something to slow it's effects so she could survive long enough to find a way to survive.

Yet, with -all- of this preparation, Yallinda still felt unprepared when she entered Min'hyvair's room. Her red eyes swept through the room slowly as she took that cautious step within. As the letter had been delivered in secret, Yallinda opted not to speak until the door was closed behind her. "You write in elegant script Lady." She decided to begin carefully. There was never any true safe place to speak after all, and she was not ready to appear too much of a fool. At least, not any more then she was allowing the rest of the House to see her as.

Min'hyvair swept a quick glance over the healer as she entered the room. She wasn't very surprised to catch a quick whiff of some anti-poison powder from her person. To walk into a poisoner's quarters was foolhardy if one didn't take measures to keep from being used as a guinea pig. She had no doubt that the healer had other things hidden on her person that would keep her from succumbing to any sort of poisonous drought that she could have slipped to her. The healer was most wise and still smart enough not to broadcast it. This one would do excellently at the helm of the House Ja'lithur should it come to that.

A small smile played on her lips at the diplomatic words that first fell from the healer's mouth. "Yes, the Matron Mother made sure her daughters were trained to act properly, unfortunately I am the only one that has kept up the practices."

"Please," Min said, pulling the chair from her desk and moving it to the foot of her bed. "have a seat, we have much to discuss. Mostly your plans for my dearest brother, Ka'dairihn."

Min glided from behind the chair and plopped on the foot of her bed and eyed the healer; wondering just how she might react to this new situation.

Yallinda's eyes never wavered from Min'hyvair's person. She still needed to determine just how much danger this visit was going to pose to her. It would have been pure foolishness to think that any meeting with any female drow was anything other then a danger! Still, a small part of her ached to have her Rhin beside her.The unusually tall and strong male carried a aura of comfort about him that she found herself craving like some sort of addictive drug.

Yallinda's eyes did finally shift from Min, so she could glance at the seat offered. Maybe there was a poisoned needle somewhere in there? Or the surface was dusted with a paralyzing agent that would take effect slowly. Or...Llloth be Blessed...something even worse. A truth serum of some sort. Yallinda would prefer the pain of poisoning over the mental torture of being forced to speak in nothing more then truth. The topic that the poisoner seemed keen on though...

Had word already spread of the meal that she and the Matron had shared? She supposed the servants could have talked, she had done very little to mince words with the Matron concerning her intentions. But that had been part of the ploy hmm? Appear as a slightly vapid but usefully skilled female. Someone that could not possibly be smart enough to be anything more then a tool? Carefully Yallinda placed her hand on the back of the chair and she leaned against it slightly. She had not made up her mind yet about sitting down. For all she knew this would be a rather short discussion.

"Dearest?" Yallinda carefully repeated the word with a slightly surprised expression opening her eyes a little more widely. She pursed her purple painted lips and tilted her head to the left. "Lady Min'hyvair. I am afraid I do not quiet understand. I have no plans for your brother...oh!" Her lax hand lifted to press the tips of her index and middle fingers to her lips in a attempt to appear even more surprised. "Do you mean that silly little game the matron and I are playing with him? Oh that's is hardly anything more then a bit of amusement. I assure you!" Like bloody hell she was going to admit otherwise to someone she was positive would prove to be a future enemy should her design to usurp the true daughters of this House from their birthright!

Min'hyavair knew that Yallinda was trying to stall in taking the seat offered because she was paranoid about being poisoned. Perhaps she should alleviate her fear of such a thing. Though; Min knew that Yallinda probably wouldn't believe a word she said. She, Min'hyvair, was the enemy after all.

Min'hyvair's mouth curved upwards as she saw the thoughts whirling in Yallinda's mind. Of course the servants had talked, no one had ever been invited to dine with the Matron at breakfast for many years. Of course that would be all over the castle. Min eyed the healer closely, and nodded absent mindly to herself. Yes..the Matron most likely saw what Min saw and was going to groom the healer to have a more permanent place in the Jalithur House than just a healer. Min would silently approve of course, as she didn't want her sisters' knowing that her vote and aid would be given to this new comer.

Min'hyvair felt tired suddenly at Yallinda's expression. Of course her brother still thought her his enemy, what with how the Matron had escalated things back then. She couldn't help but feel hurt by it though, what with the plans she had for keeping him safe. She had sent a shadow mage to protect him on his journey and had diligently made sure that he couldn't be poisoned by anyone in the House! And she was still being made out as his number one enemy.

"I think you do understand what I am asking. And please do not act like you don't know what's going on. The Matron has given you and Ka'da the go ahead to marry if he concludes his mission successfully. You can rest assured that he will. I have ensured that by placing a shadow mage to watch over him. As for the other matter, if you wish a more permanent position in the House, I would gladly aid you in that. That is, if you plan to do what I think you are. I have long grown tired of my sisters' petty plots and the Matron's allowing them to screw with Ka'da. If you need anything..just ask."

Min'hyvair concluded her speech by standing up and staring Yallinda straight in the eyes closely. She rather hoped that she hadn't been too bold and up front, but she was tired of all the silly double meanings and intrigue that was going on. She wanted to know, and she wanted to know fast what Yallinda intended. "All I ask of you is that you help me make my brother realize that I'm not his enemy. And if you keep me alive, I can be most helpful in other endeavors."

No. She would not sit. Yallinda shifted her slippered feet under her as she watched Min as she would seem to gauge her. There was certainly a undercurrent of something else going on here. Well, if she hadn't detected it then that would have meant something was off on her game. There was -always- something going on in the under currents.

So when it was that Min was making the effort to cut through the veils and webbing of Yallinda's guises...well it was a rather unpleasant feeling actually. Her small petulant pout faded away and the purple paint upon her lips straightened into a more serious and firm scowl. Even the slightly naive and addled glaze that she put so much effort into perfecting faded. Oh yes. Yallinda was without a doubt cunning. She had learned many life lessons while scrambling on the bottom of the hierarchy. She never would have survived this long if she had not learned how to hide her true potential and skills.

Yallinda crossed her arms over her chest as she eyed Min up and down slowly. "Well...I appreciate the interest and effort you have placed in ensuring Ka'da succeeds. I would very much like to see him succeed myself." She was not positive she dared share what plans she was in the process of carrying out with Min yet...however...

"What support you may wish to offer...well I would certainly keep that in mind later on when Ka'da is mine." She promised before uncrossing her arms. Lifting one hand, she flicked her fingers through a few of her loose strands of hair and gave a sliding glance towards the door. "Though I think it's a bit premature to consider any plans at all until the Matron approves of my marriage to your brother."

Min'hyvair rather liked the other's defiance and choice to do as she pleased. Just seeing how the healer reacted to being offered a seat that she suspected in being sabotaged made Min smile. She was definitely being cautious about what she did, and that was good. Especially since Min was sure that one of her sisters would more than likely try to destroy the healer now that she had gained the attention of the matron.

Min'hyvair straightened her expression when she saw Yallinda wasn't pleased with her stripped away her guards. It was amazing how much the healer transformed. The once childish pout and glazed look faded revealing a the pissed off female that had been lurking underneath. Min'hyvair knew that having caused Yallinda to strip away her mask would more than likely make the healer despise her even more.

Min'hyvair knew it took a lot for the healer to admit that she was appreciative of anything she had done for Ka'da. Still..having admitted it revealed to Min'hyvair that the healer actually did care a lot for her brother. Which was rather surprising. She had thought the healer was just using her brother because of his family..and the opportunity of rising into a higher position.

Min eyed the healer a bit more closely before she spoke in a soft undertone. "Whether you want to believe it or not, we have the same interests concerning Ka'da. We don't have to be enemies. Though..we can't be allowing anyone to believe that we are friends. If we were to do that..would result in dire consequences for both of us. I have no doubt that he will be yours, especially if he cares as much for you as you do him. And if my Matron sees what I just saw in you now, there is no doubt she will approve of it. I suppose we will just have to bide our time and wait until that happens. Until then..let us, be enemies..to those who are watching. If you need anything..you can leave message with my personal servant Vierthir. I trust him explicitely."

Alliances were things Yallinda often forged with men. Easily manipulated men with a flutter of her eyes and a flash of her breast. The mere concept of being allies with a woman purely on the merit of seeing her Rhin in a more comfortable position was ludicrous. However, that was what it appeared to be yes? Yallinda carefully kept her eyes from roving, though she did pay heed to anything in sight of her perennial vision. She almost expected to see some spy lurking about, hanging on every word and waiting to see what news he or she had to deliver to some waiting ear. This as not the case however.

What a utterly dangerous play. The House healer and poisoner secretly meeting for their on agenda? In most cases the two at least ought to be stiffly at odds with each other. Strange bedfellows does ambition make flickered through her mind before being cast aside. She could not count entirely on Min to be devoted to achieving her own personal plans. That alone was laughable. Yallinda did not inhale a sigh as she wished to, mostly to clear her lungs and her head, as she assumed that it would be read as a sigh of disbelief, boredom, or arrogance.

"I will agree to your suggestion." She replied. It was really the only logical choice at this point. With the poisoner knowing more about her then she had intended on revealing, it was the only way to ensure that she did not have one very skilled and active enemy attempting to remove her from the House. "Though I suspect your Matron already is well aware of the facade I wear and suspects what lies beneath. I do not think she would have agreed to our possible union otherwise." Unless she intended on denying her for the fun of it and arranging her marriage to another servant of hers. Ugh. Yallinda nodded her head and shifted back a step towards the door. "I shall keep in mind your servant, and should you need speak with me again...the same ruse shall work well enough. I am certain we have enough common elements in our trade for a mix up to happen from time to time..."

Min smiled, sensing Yallinda's annoyance that she couldn't use her feminine wiles to gain what she wanted from her. Funny..if Yallinda were her type, Min probably would have welcomed some open flirting and flashing of Yallinda's lush curves. Still..it was nice to see the healer squirm around uncomfortably.

She half expected the street healer to jump up and throw open the doors and closets to see if she was being spied on. Such foolishness wouldn't have been tolerated, and Min's finely stretched temper would have probably erupted if the poor soul had done such a thing. Min hated when people didn't take her on her word. She prided herself for never lying..she just omitted the truth in a skillful way.

Min'hyvair twirled the ends of her shawl with two fingers of her right hand as the left rested on the chair's ornate armrest as she awaited the other's decision. She let her gaze wander around the room taking in the skull and spider motiffs in the door frame and the window frames. It was a rather nice room, filled with fabrics in dark purple, crimson and silver. It had taken her years to get it to her liking..and had cost quite a bit. Though there as still one thing missing..she came out of her musing and looked over at the healer as she spoke.

She inclined her head slightly and let rather crooked smile fill her face. "Oh of course she knows. If you didn't have a backbone and the tenacity that you do she would have thrown you out on the streets on day one, despite Ka'da's insistence. She may favor him, but only on her own whim. If he were to destroy the family name..there would be no hope for him..or you."

Min rose from her seat and nodded at the healer. "Yes, so we do. I believe we are finished, make sure to check the halls before you leave through the door."
