S'kor nodded his head slowly as he observed the Weyrlingmaster and his 'victim' run through the course. It seemed much like memorizing a map. Traders had to use maps to get from place to place. Often they had them memorized in case the maps became damaged or lost.

Feeling confident that he could quickly get the course down, he strode up to the start and perforce taking D'lin with him. Pausing at the entrance to let the pair ahead get a couple steps into the pattern before starting. His brow was furrowed in concentration to memorize it as quickly as possible. Sure it was simple on the ground, but the real test would be up on wing.

Optheli glanced at her partner. "Ready for this? It should be fairly easy since we're just walking on the ground to learn a pattern." She glanced towards the circle holding the dragons. 'You watch closely Dynith. You'll have to do this too, but don't worry about mistakes. Others are making them so nobody will mind if you misstep.'

Turning back to the course, she hoped into line. For a moment she cursed under her breath about being so short. Standing on tippy toes Optheli tried to peer around the taller riders at the course. Oh well! Seems she'd just have to take it as it came. A grin crossed her face as she waited.

Scarath hummed as His took a quick step to be among the first several of the pairs lining up. They would get this down pat in no time. After that, a snack and oiling would be a perfect conclusion.

Dynith almost cried out in despair as Her's mentioned she'd have to walk it too. Then to make matters worse, saying the others would be watching. What if she couldn't get it? What would they all think of her? The green started to fidget nervously. She didn't want the Weyrlingmaster and his dragon to think badly of her.

As the weyrlingmaster set off, Viridith moved right to the edge of the circle she and the other dragonets had been placed in and stood rigid. Wings half unfurled and head occasionally tilting to a different angle, she drank in every detail of the man's movements. This was important. This was good. Everything about what the mature rider was doing was perfectly precise. She was going to enjoy this.

K'ro too watched the drill carefully, although without the savage intensity of his partner. When it came to his turn to move up, he nodded once to F'ren and stepped into the pattern behind another pair.

Despite the attention he had paid to the weyrlingmaster's demonstration, K'ro immediately found himself less than perfect. At some points he hesitated, and at one or two he turned the wrong way; at one point this led to him bumping into F'ren. After murmuring a soft apology however he moved on, unrattled by his mistake. For now he supposed mistakes couldn't be avoided, there was no cause to worry about them, only to correct them; keep calm and carry on, as the saying went.

As he finished his first lap, he heard Viridith hiss both aloud and inside his head. "That was alright," she told him, "but you can do better; again Mine, this time I'll work it though with you, we'll remember between us."

She meant only mentally, she was still intending to wait for the signal to actually join him. Interesting how he knew that even though her words had been ambiguous... But this was not the time to focus on the nature of bonds. Looping back around to the start of the patter, K'ro waited for a gap in the weaving pairs of weyrlings before stepping out again. This time, with Viridith's staccato-voiced commentary on where he should be turning along with his own memory of the drill, he did rather better, managing not to squash F'ren even once (though he did still pause at a couple of points).

As Hers made a rather better showing of walking the drill, Viridith gave a pleased rumble and sat back on her haunches, eyes spinning bright blue. "Much better," she purred, "we shall be good at this. Patience, discipline. That is what drills need, and that is what we have. We shall work at this until we are perfect." She would not allow things to go any other way. The green wasn't considering how well or badly any other couple might fare, only on herself and Hers; the perfection of others would only matter if the lack of it got in the way of K'ro's and her own performance.

F'ren cursed under his breath, *shards how am i supposed to remember this?!* he thought to himself, trying to keep in step with K'ro, but even the other seemed to be having trouble and he tried to relax a little. Mine breathe, you are not supposed to know it all at once. BE CAREFUL! F'ren had been focussing on his dragon, instead of wher he was walking and had bumped into K'ro. "Sorry, this is hard" he said keeping his gaze on where he was supposed to be going Mine you are almost done, i think i can remember the path, we can practise.

V’al said nothing and followed his partner into the course. At first he wasn’t sure why this required partners except for the sake of interaction, but it wasn’t long before they started having to correct one another. He fumbled more at first until catching the gist of the symbols, but once it started making sense the track went well. He told Lerath to come watch from the edge of the ring to avoid being constantly questioned incessantly by the riled dragonet, but even without the distraction G’brel suffered from he didn’t finish the course perfectly.

I think I have it.Lerath chimed the moment V’al stepped out of the track. I saw the parts you did wrong. I think I could walk it.

V’al gave his dragon an appraising look. He was not surprised. Lerath was becoming well known for him memory. The blue questioned everything constantly, and His was too busy to carry out interviews through, he was usually exploring or taking the spare moment to sleep so he could begin again quickly as possible. It pushed V’al’s patience sometimes, but it was impossible to become truly annoyed with his dragon. “G’brel, I’m bringing Lerath in.”

Lerath started the course behind him, so V’al was left to work it from memory. Lerath had the cleverness to make suggestions when he hesitated, but it was the rustle of wings and otherwise unusual silence that made him glance back. He blinked. “What are you doing?” he said aloud.

Lerath cocked his head, wings frozen. One was thrust straight out, pointing up, and the other half tucked and down. I am imagining doing this in the air. You will be sitting, but I will have to bank and turn a great deal. he answered as if it were the plainest thing in the world.

“You look ridiculous.” V’al informed.

I will not be when we begin flying. I will be stunning. Now lead, this pattern is a little harder than I thought.

V’al stared at him a moment more, then suddenly bit back a smile. Keep it up then, he answered, and returned to the drill before the next pair could catch up. They still did not run it perfectly with Lerath’s imagined aerials making distraction, though after a few more tries it was Lerath leading the way, slowly but gracefully merging his wings movements from one position to the next. There was more to flying than just wings of course, but V’al felt satisfied with their performance and went to rest beside the track and watch the others.

D'lin walked along with S'kor towards the beginning of the course, eying the line and directions for a few moments "This shouldn't be to bad" He told S'kor "It's a bit like following the plans we used for building things back home...just have to recall all the steps" How irritating that some part of his former life would actually be useful, but while it irked him he wasn't about to ignore it's usefulness. Th best thing he figured he could do was picture it in his head as they went along - thats how he'd always recalled things before.

As the pair ahead of him got far enough along he glanced at S'kor to make sure he was ready and then started off, mentally ticking off the different directions as he encountered them, and running through them in order afterwards to make sure they stuck.

Plexith's attention was on his as his and Scarath's started through the pattern. He wanted to warble encouragement but held off less he distract his in what he saw as an important task. It was important to make a good impression on the Weyrling master. "They will do well" He told Scarath "Bronze riders always do" He added proudly.

"Hu, I would have said its like memorizing the maps of the trader tails. Much the same thing I would think." The first run through was a disaster, for S'kor, far as going through it correctly. He was so busy attempting to get the pattern down in his head that more often then not he mis-stepped. Hopefully he hadn't stepped on anyone's toes. 'Do not worry Mine about memorizing it. We will go through it until it become ingrained.'

It didn't help his concentration when a blue dragon decided to join them, following along behind His. S'kor almost laughed as he glimpsed from the corner of his eye blue wings doing all sorts of things. It certainly seemed as though he was really getting into the feel of it.

'Mine, I would like to join you now so we may learn it together. You have had one run through.' Well it looks like dragons are joining. Why not ask Plexith if he would care to join us as well? S'kor looked at his partner. "Scarath wants to join us now. That alright with you?"

'Mine will get better Plexith. We will do this until it is more than a memory. Let's go join Ours for the next walk through. It will be better to learn it together.' Scarath rose to his feet and moved around the crimson. He crooned softly to let others know he was coming up behind them, but he didn't want to startle them.

Optheli fidgeted with impatience. When was it going to be their turn? Pairs went in, until they were finally next. She almost rushed it wanting to give it a try; the thought that Akaya or the pair ahead might not appreciate another group right at their heels. When a good distance had opened up Optheli took her first steps in.

It was a lot more complex than she'd expected. Several times she'd actually taken quite a few steps in the wrong direction, before her partner or her dragon corrected her. Her cheeks flushed slightly.
'Do you think Grawareth will notice if I do it perfectly Mine?' Dynith glanced at the large brown sitting with the others. It would be nice if he noticed, but horrible if what he noticed was just her messing up.

The girl grinned. If he doesn't I certainly will Dynith! That's why we're practicing here, so that can we fix any mistakes we make. It'll be better to work the kinks out down here rather than up there.

"I think that summary works too" D'lin agreed "Probably similarities to allot of trades if someone really thought about it" He mused outloud. Like S'kor, D'lins first run through was nothing to write home about - but unlike his partner who was trying to memorize where he was...D'lin often found himself trying to memorize things one step ahead of where they actually were..which wound up confusing him more often then not.

"Fine with me, I'm sure Plexith is itching to get in here as well" D'lin responded "And we've gone through once now, next time will be easier and the time after that even better' He concluded confidently. Practice made perfect right? just another lesson he was loathe to admit had come from his time at the forges.'The past is important mine, even if you don't like it.' Butted in Plexith 'When did you get so smart?''When I hatched' Came his quick reply

'Scarath and I are coming mine, we will help ' Plexith bespoke his while joining Scarath on the way to the course 'Of course they will get better' he told the other bronze 'We chose them and they shall be the best on the course' he stated confidently, I mean they were bronzes right? Clearly that meant theirs would be the best. Thought it did slightly irk him that that blue dragon had beaten them there.

N'ymi and Daroth waited for their turns to begin. Looking over at N'ain and his dragon, she could only hope that they would not screw them up. Daroth was staring intently at how the Weyrling Master and the Crimsonrider were moving, trying to catch their every move.

N'ymi tried to focus as well, hoping that they would not bump into each other. "Ready?"

After finishing the first lap through, G'brel made sure to concentrate harder on the second go around, and made far less mistakes. "That's fine," she replied when her partner said he was brining in his dragon. Lifth? Are you up for trying yet?

I'm ready whenever you are, he replied easily, stretching out a little bit.

Good. Then get your spotted butt over here. To V'al, mostly just as a warning, she said, "Lifth is coming as well."

Walking the course with dragons in tow proved to be a bit different than walking it on their own. Even if said dragon was rather quiet and seeming more like an overly large shadow. You are still behind me, right? the teen remarked at one point, amused by the sudden lack of input from the other.

Yes, I am here. I am memorizing, he replied simply. Lerath's particular practicing technique had caught his attention earlier, and he found the idea rather intriguing. However, for now he decided it might be best to concentrate more on remembering the actual pattern before attempting to adapt it to flying as well. That practice would be coming soon enough.

Sure you're not daydreaming instead? she teased, knowing her blue rather enjoyed playing around in his own thoughts.

As nice as that would be, no, I am here in the moment. Speaking of which, turn left.

Huh? Shards! Why do I keep getting distracted so easily?! Same spot too.

The dragonet's eyes whirled with amusement. Do you wish me to resume my prior silence?

Oh shush. Under her breath she muttered, "Show off," to which Lifth gave a light rumble of amusement.
