Okay, so I've noticed it's been awhile since anyone posted any Twilight related news so I figured I'd share something interesting with you guys.
Over the summer I took a First Nations course that focussed on the issues and controversies surrounding various indigenous people across North America. Mid-way through the course an article was posted which discussed the recent tourism of a reservation, where an aboriginal group resides whom are supposedly the inspiration for the werewolf/shapeshifter clan that appears in the Twilight series. Prior to the series reaching it's height of popularity the reservation was essentially ignored.
Now personally I could see this situation as having a pro and a con to it.
Pro: It could bring attention to the aboriginal peoples in that area and in turn could allow them to use this popularity to bring forward some of the issues they might currently have.
Con: It could result in misrepresentation and misunderstandings, and add brand new stereotypes onto them which they do not need. Also; should the fans bring a similar attitude to these people that they bring to the movie theatres is could cause resentment and hostility. Which would be disappointing because the article mentions that so far the people living on the reservation and very surprised by the sudden attention.
What is your guy's opinions of this situation? Is it beneficial, or a disaster waiting to happen?

I go for the cons rather than the pros about it. Sure, they are getting famous, but at what cost? The rabid fans are bound to cause trouble in the reservations.

I think it might be good for them, but you never know. We'll just have to wait and see.

I'd have to go for cons too, this country and its people are too far gone, the only thing that could save us now is....nothing...s**t.

Yes, there will be stupid things going on, but that won't matter in the long run, and I'm sure the people will learn to tolerate it. This new wave of stupidity is no different from other prejudice they've experienced. What will matter is that actual problems will be brought to light and, hopefully, solved. There's a cost to everything.

I think the cons outweigh the cons. They end up with more stereotypes simply because Meyer didn't do her research.
Plus, the fans have been shown to be nut jobs. I wouldn't be shocked to hear a case of sexual assault against one of the fans.

I think it can go either way. It's good that they're getting attention, but if they're completely misrepresented then they would be better off not getting it in the first place. I can only call this one a wait and see at this point.

And it is a cliff. Could have just been a coincidental suicide attempt. *shrug*

If anything, it will probably get worse before it gets any better. That's the sad way of the world. Unless it has to do with Twilight Fans. Then it might just get worse. Wait and see.
