So, I'm having tons more medical issues lately and I have to get blood drawn more often. Last month the lab that did it messed up: didn't take enough and mixed me up with another patient because the tech wrote my last name down wrong.
Today, I had to get blood drawn again. They took seven vials to make sure they had enough. I'd never realised how much seven vials is, but by vial five I swear my arm had gone cold and my fingers were tingly.
I also now have yet another damn bruise that looks like I'm being taken over by some mutant virus. Again. It always happens.
Anyway, how has your experience been when donating blood or getting blood drawn? We can also talk about changing avatars because I changed mine today and I think she's pretty cute. I'd wear the outfit irl.

I can't donate blood cuz I'm anemic. lol
But whenever they take it for tests, they always friggen do it wrong. They always switch between arms like 5 times and dig around for my vein for a good 30 mins... just for one vial. Worst: This one nurse had to dig around for 15 mins just to fill one vial and she basically took the blood out of the tissues in my arm or the wrong vein because she was so dumb.
Best?: This oriental old guy just took a small needle, stared at my arm, stuck it in once, hit the vein, drained 5 vials and then put a bandaid on it. He was so pro. I wish I could have that guy take my blood every time for the rest of my life.

@Seliece: I don't like needles either. sad But I loved getting a tattoo. Go figure, lol.
@Hisaki: I can't donate blood, either, for multiple reasons but I'm fine with that because the only time I have donated blood... I was sick for a month afterwards.
@Grimm: I'm jealous of people who can donate blood! I can only imagine the feeling of pride! Also, I'd love to donate plasma, too. Only, it's not really donating because you get paid for your plasma. XD

I don't like needles, I don't like to watch them. But I do it. I'm about to donate my 8th pint, so I'm up to a full gallon of blood since I've started! It makes me feel good to donate, and I always try to get the appointments that give you free stuff afterwards. xD Like this one coming up, free drink at Startbucks for all donaters. Awesomesauce.
I also wanna get another tattoo, but I don't know where yet. I'm going to get my wings finished first before that though.
I need to change my avatar. Badly. But I have no inspiration. xP

I used to donate, but I haven't been able to in a few years because I'm anemic too. It was nice being able to help while I could though.
It's always a pain to get blood drawn though (and donate back when I could), because they would dig around and switch arms, and I'm always just, "You can take it out of my left hand..." |:
I want to change my avatar, but I have no inspiration neither, and I'd lose this hair. Friggan EI's...

I've never really had a problem with needles. When I'm out here at school I go to a plasma center and donate twice a week. Nothing beats 60 bucks a week in cash in exchange for sitting in a chair for 15 minutes at a stretch. xD

Extra money totally is aces, though. (That's why I'm thinking of tutoring during fall quarter on the days I'm not working.)

Wait until your pregnant.... >_>
Because of my tubal pregnancies in the past I've had my blood drawn so many times it doesn't phase me anymore. I had to go twice a week for a month and then once a week for about 2-3 more months. I'm already slapping my arm when I sit in the chair...

I can't get pregnant, lol.Normally it doesn't phase me because I get blood drawn at least once a month (talking about 4+ vials, not including the 1 or 2 vials that certain visits have warranted [that's almost once a week]) on top of the other hospital visits I have to make (it feels like I'm there at least 3 times a week), but it had been awhile since I'd had 7 vials done. There were so many check marks on the form that the doctor filled out. It felt like I was getting tested for everything, lol. edited quite a few times to make it not sound like i was trying to one up anybody. XD

me+blood drawings=fail. I made the mistake of looking the first time, and that's how I learned that I can't handle the sight of my own blood like that. I bruise easy, and my veins are deep and rolling. plus the phlebotomists never listen when I say 'HANDS OR LOWER WRIST', and always try for the worst spots first. >_____________<
last time, I was bruised for almost three weeks, and looked like I got my a** kicked by someone hxc, yo, because they needed to put an IV in me with contrast dye for an mri. I told them lower wrist. they did upper first. bitches. S<
clearly, I don't donate. not even if they paid me, but that wouldn't really be a donation, I don't think? idk. o.o
also, on avis, I've been going for reds and guns. <3

Oh.... well um when I was pregnant they took 7 vials because they test for EVERYTHING! No matter how many times you answer the questions, "Do you smoke? Drink? Do drugs?" with a "No" they don't believe you! Even the D had to get blood drawn!

@bry: I feel you on the bruising, bb! I bruise really fast and really bad. Most of the time I look like there's a zombie virus out there and I caught it or something. I've never had an MRI with contrast, though, but I think that's coming up soon. (And yeah, it's not a donation if you receive some form of payment.)
