Janette blinked a few times, still staring down at the ground. She took many deep breaths and tried to tell herself Jace was right; she couldn't've prevented it, even though she knew something terrible was going to happen in the parkinglot.
Jace's words finally broke through Janette's mental thought block and she stared up at him. Of all people Jace should be the one to know what she was talking about.
"Jace it was one of my feelings. Not just intuition of a normal person, but my actual curse. I felt it." She said trying tonreason with herself more than Jace. She felt obligated to makeherself responsible.
Suddenly all hell broke loose. Teachers started yelling at the students to go back to class or call their parents or go home. Some kids went right away while others stayed put, too curious to learn more about the accident than to listen to the teachers. Which only caused the teachers to threaten the students with detention and in school suspension.
Janette recognized Kacee's girlfriend Amanda. She was in full blown tears, not caring- for once- who looked and saw her crying, or what others thought of her. Janette was fond of Amanda, she was a carefree girl who took everything with seriousness but having fun at the same time. Janette wished- for Amanda's sake more than anyone else's- that Kacee would be alright.
Janette turned her head and her eyes scanned the students. Not one student was smiling anymore, their faces were grave. Kacee and Brad were the two most popular guys in school. Brad was the typical football jerk and Kacee was the kind one. But no matter their personalities everyone was in shock and in sad states. ((ick that didn't make sense. Sorry))
"I-I need my bag," Janette said quietly. Only then did she realize that Jace had put his arm around her. But, unlike any other time, her heart didn't skip with delight at his touch.
"Could you drive me home?" She asked looking up at Jace. "I don't think I'd be able to drive myself." She explained eyeing her bag that had been kicked and shoved out of the way by the rushing students.

Jace ignored the teachers who were now swarming around the crowd like angry bees, only pausing to threaten onlookers with detention.
Jace rolled his eyes and looked down at Janette. “I don’t care if you felt anything. This was in no way your fault, and don’t you dare try to blame yourself.” He slipped his foot through the strap in Janette’s backpack and lifted it that way so he wouldn’t have to take his arm away from her shoulders. He knew he wouldn’t have the courage to put it back. He ignored her question about the ride home and instead, he threw her backpack over his shoulder along with his, and tightened his grip on her shoulders in order to pull her through the receding crowd.
“Janette, really.” He began as they walked towards his car “You can’t blame yourself for things like this. You had nothing to do with it. It was those two idiots’ faults for not being more careful.”
Jace led Janette to the passenger side and opened the car door for her. He then put her backpack, along with his, on the backseat, but in the middle where Janette could reach her things if she needed them. With a subtle gesture for her to get in, he walked around to the other side of the car, unlocked his door, and slid in.
