When we think art, we think of paintings first. Drawings next, sculptures- Those kinds of things. Music will follow soon, while film has a hard time getting in our heads. But what about, for example, videogames? A certainly new medium which has been used for artistic means not only in indie-games like the Path (which can also be linked to the "where does art end?" thread) but arts courses on universities even discussed the game series Silent Hill for it's worth, symbolism and design. Can you relate to that in any way?.

Of course I can. I can relate to a lot of things as art. A few things that people seldom think about:
1. Construction. If someone can make an elephant out of scrap from a junkyard, I'd call that art. (see Iron Giant and iCarly's Spencer for examples)
2. Dancing. I have no idea why people can't see this as an art. Every dancer has their own style and their own way of representing themselves.
3. Programming. Any decent computer programmer will see that programming is just as much an art as music or painting.
4. Cracking (computer hacking/password breaking). Algorithms and techniques used by cryptanalysts (namely the good ones such as Arne Beurling) can be very fascinating and you will often wonder how they did what they did.
5. Smithing. Techniques for making armor and swords (most famous being the Japanese katana) can produce extravagant works of art (Damascus steel swords being among the most revered).
6. Gardening. Doesn't need much explanation.
7. Martial arts. Many martial arts had a deep artistic and/or spiritual tie. A prime example is most forms of kung fu. Their martial art was deeply tied to their religion (Buddhism) and expressed the beliefs of their religion through their fighting styles.
8. Writing. Most people think this only involved poetry and novels. However this is not true. Asian calligraphy is viewed as an art by many artists around the world as each calligraphist (?) has their own technique and style for their work.
9. Sports. Very hard for many to see this one. But many athletes (especially professionals) have an artistic style to the way they play. A good example is an American football player named Barry Sanders. Look him up on youtube if you don't know him.
10. Sewing/weaving. There are some who consider this an art but most consider it a hobby and/or skill. But the fact of the matter is that most, if not all arts out there are a hobby and/or skill. Anyone who sews/weaves with dedication can create a work of art.
