Philosopher
Avalon (probably from the Welsh word afal, meaning apple; see Etymology below) is a legendary island featured in the Arthurian legend, famous for its beautiful apples. It first appears in Geoffrey of Monmouth's 1136 pseudohistorical account Historia Regum Britanniae ("The History of the Kings of Britain") as the place where King Arthur's sword Caliburn (Excalibur) was forged and later where Arthur is taken to recover from his wounds after the Battle of Camlann. As an "Isle of the Blessed" Avalon has parallels elsewhere in Indo-European mythology,[citation needed] in particular the Irish Tír na nÓg and the Greek Hesperides, also noted for its apples. Avalon was associated from an early date with immortal beings such as Morgan le Fay.

The truth about Avalon is that Avalon is, in all essence, a bridge between many worlds and time-lines that would not have been connected to each other, otherwise, perhaps because of a massive enchantment in which Merlin's people had aided with, and that King Arthur's family was said to have worked on[seeing as Arthur's family is actually said to be descended from the Olympians, themselves, but that's another tale for another time!] with Merlin's people[whom many, including the citizens of the Potter-World, are said to be descended from!]

People who know further truths about the fabled Island/mystical bridge to many gateways, may feel free to post here, if they wish.

I read this one series of books, by T.A. Barron (or was it T.A. White? I forgot) where one kid went to this island his mother told him about, or something, and it turned out he was Merlin. It was a good series. =D

It might have been T.H White if you are talking about Arthur himself.
If not, its T.A Barron, i think.

Anyone been watching the Merlin series by the BBC? Admittedly, I have only watched about 2 episodes of it but just wondering if anyone else has been watching it.

I believe i have, Alpha.
Why did Uther suddenly begin to act like Zeus when Zeus was just a shadow of his former glory?(And even then, he could still wipe out otherwise nightmarish odds?)

I watch all show of Merlin. But after awhile the end of season. I found myself hating Guinevere. The other shows I did not mind her it was last season I hate her. She was so stuck up. Then find liking Morgana in some shows of first season. I don't think she would have gotten real bad if Merlin and connect some with her in the show. She would not have gone down the path she choice. Then there Mordred he was so cute as child. Historian Mordred was Arthur son. The mother was Arthur sister Morgana. I guess they thought that would be wrong.

Actually it depends on the versions you are talking about, some of them might have Arthur and Mordred as cousins, step-brothers, or even half-brothers in fact.

Regardless, what's concrete is that they may be related but that is all that might be ascertained, even then if I'm not mythtaken in recollections, Mordred was said to be of the same clan as Sir Gawain.

This is the right thread to bring the matters up, but not enough people willing to discuss the matter in-depth for us to get further I'm afraid at the moment.

You have more questions to ask, or do you recall the names of all 50 of the main Knights of the Round Table from Arthur's time by chance?

That's half of the Knighthood during Arthur's time, right?

What about Sir Marrok or Sir Gwydion by chance?

Gwydion wasn't mentioned often and in some cases he might have been stated to be a Magic Knight of sorts.
Perhaps Magic Knight gatherings in general wasn't the overall style of Arthur's time?

Yes, I heard it was mentioned somewhere that Marrok was a Werewolf if I'm not mistaken, I can't recall the hows or the whys though.
