I exclaimed. Well, it was more of a shriek to be frank. I barely had time to even consider moving out of the spear's path when everything straight turned in to blood. I felt my control over the ice melt away when the transformation took place. For now, Cypress would keep me afloat, hovering in position as the spear became a bear. Almira shouted some orders at me and I nodded my head in agreement. Having just made the battlefield favorable to her that made sense. I mean, I wasn't exactly trying to die here so why not. Still, there was a part of me that was pretty bummed. My very first fight and all I could do was fly in aimless circles. What could I do? Throw my spear at her? Try and stab her? This swarm of insects didn't really seem like they'd be all too bothered by that. Even my boy was pretty useless. 'Hmmph." Unexpectedly I was jerked back in to the air, still close enough to Almira should the need for proximity arrive.

Cypress began to rapidly beat his wings. I wasn't sure what he was doing but I wanted to be supportive, so I raised my spear overhead and started shouting at the top of my lungs. "ARGH! YOU HAVE CHOSEN YOUR TARGET POORLY TODAY, INSECT MISTRESS! FEAR ME FOR I AM THE HARBINGER OF YOUR DOOM!" My words poured out in a mixture of Meritian and what I knew of demonica. Hopefully I was coming off as menacing. The wind kicked up all around us and if this mist had been anything natural it would have been stirred. Just a I was about to continue shouting at how easily I could dispatch this monstrosity from this plane something twitched in my mind. It was Cypress, capturing my attention and telling me to notice something. I felt it. The way the air caressed by skin, so close to the sea it carried the salt on it. And then I knew what I was supposed to do. Reaching outward I felt the water on the breeze, surrounding the insect lady. I froze it instantly. The air between her and the portal, the wind rushing through and around her, I froze it all. Maybe I couldn't kill her right away, but keeping her from separating in to tiny flies and escaping through the magic door seemed like the next best thing. Almira could handle the rest.

                                                                              • Seashores
The Mer are hyper-aware of everything around them, their five senses deeply active. They feel the light touching their shoulder, the running about of the small creatures, everything. They're very perceptive, moreso than most races. Furthermore, when listening through a conch (many Mer carry one everywhere), they can hear things for two kilometers around them.

                                                                              • The Deep Blue
Water, blessed by Kaminae, lives to do battle for you. You can manipulate it very precisely, and water manipulated by you is stronger than steal at base. Mer armor and weapons are made of water, and they weigh almost nothing, yet defend better than the armor of others, and attack better than any other spear. The water can indeed slice as if it were a blade, defend as if a shield even in liquid form. Specifically, this hardness scales with the energy you put into it:
                                                                              Novice - Titanium

The amount of water you can manipulate also increases with rank:

                                                                              Novice - 100 Gallons

The water you are manipulating in its entirety retains that hardness, and the energy buffing the water lasts for four posts.

                                                                              Technique

                                                                                  • Invocation: Water Control[V]
Invoking the power of water grants the caster a low level of control over the element itself. They can lift water and move it freely about them with just their will alone. The state of matter can be altered freely as well. The stronger the caster gets the more water they can control at once. At E-Rank a 5 ft range/10 lbs or less can be controlled. This scales by 5 ft, and 10 lbs up until SS-Rank, where it will be 35 ft range/70 lbs.

                                                                                  • The Ocean's Breeze D
An extremely potent ability of the Mer, and yet simple. Cheap. They can control a breeze using the water moisture inside of it, swaying it somewhere. Then, as the breeze encloses on its target, they can multiply the water moisture inside of the breeze and pull large quantities of water out of thin air. If used as a breeze passes by a foe, this can be used almost as assassination, bringing water around their bodies and solidifying it.

In response to their...lack of action, the maiden decided to launch a strike of her own. After focusing her power, the maiden would unleash a viciously powerful blast of corrupting energy around her body. Tides of Power erupted in all directions, shattering the Mer's attempt at freezing the air, and presenting the heroes with a new challenge; would they dodge, or risk the plague? Overall, the mind controlling the maiden was...unimpressed with the state of the battle. Surely, the mortals were more powerful than this? Had all this time and effort developing the plague for nothing. Were these mortals worth the effort?

Regardless, the pair had yet to show any real, substantial attacks. Taking the opportunity, the maiden would rise into the sky, the mist forming underneath her in a toxic veil, threatening all those who would approach her. Readying her body for a use of her particularly special ability, she would bide her time...to see if they came up with anything to appease her.

• Tides of Power A
The sorcerer will blast out a wave of energy all around their body, launching out their raw power for fifty feet in every direction. The wave of energy has the force of a cement wall and forcefully pushes people away from the sorcerer. Those who have a higher strength rating than 10 are able to resist it, but still receive the initial blunt damage.

Her tattoo was burning even more intensely than before as Naeal made her attack, so much so that she didn't immediately notice what was going on. Inside of her mind, the Vampress found herself floating an abyss of blackness, murkier than the skies above and the ground below her feet. As the Bloodmoon drew itself out, the abyss seemed to pierce her body at her forehead, at her chest and at her abdomen all equally. Her nostrils were being slowly filled with this feeling of desire and hunger. Before her eyes, a red dot appeared suddenly. It grew, expanding with every breath. Sharp eyes saw it for what it was: it was the blood moon. And just before she snapped back into reality, it turned to face her and a taunting face smiled. Her own skull, features deteriorating into a spooky scary skeletal version of itself.

And then the words Naeal had called out invaded her auditory senses, stunning Almira. "What did you even say? Those two langauges don't mix well..." Almira almost chided scratching her head before snapping her crimson eyes back onto the maiden, seriousness set back in. Her attempt at an attack went largely under the notice of Almira until the ice was forming. She popped her eyebrows in surprise for a second. Crafty little things those fish out of water could be, even if extremely ditzy. Almira tapped the back of Chastiefol as the Maiden created her Tide of Power, realizing that this power would be too much for her bear to handle in it's state. The energy of the skill fillled Almira before the skill reached her, feeding her own pool ever so slightly and bringing that red moon ever closer to the girl. A fang bit into her bottom lip, and holding Chastiefol in it's first form, Almira aimed her self like a missile, flying towards the maiden and her attack head on. Her gown slammed into the wave, crashing through it and taking the skill with it. Naeal would be safe, theoretically, if she didn't move from the path Almira took. Rubies focused as her energy divided itself out. A loud screech sounded from the woman, seemingly from everywhere as the entire area was filled with red. In the same moment that happened, Almira summoned five blades around her body, and as she closed in the woman swung the spear to slash the head clean off, with each sword carving at B rank strength.

                                        Energy 2102
                                        Stats 13/8 (+2 speed)
                                        Equipment Chastiefol, Helliot
                                        Passives

                                            Regeneration
This is passive meaning it does it on its own. At different ranks you may regenerate your wounds. Trainees can only deal with cuts, by novice deep cuts, Adept rank you wont bother with a broken bone, masters can deal with an entire sword going through your body, and you can deal with a removed arm or leg, as well as internal damage to the organs.

                                            Telepathy
A skill that simply allows vampires to communicate with other vampires or those they have bitten within a week, letting them discuss strategy or simply have a discussion. The range of how far one must be from the other is vast, to be able to communicate one must be within the same country as the target. However, to be able to speak with them they must know each other. In the case of a progeny and a creator, they can talk to each other from across the world. The creator can also physically effect their progenies from anywhere, making them feel a longing to come to the one who turned them.

                                            The Rite of Blood
Upon obtaining expert rank, you may use this ability only twice, so choose wisely. If someone has died and not yet rotted completely, you may bring them back as a vampire. The ritual is simple; shove a liter of blood down their throat, and then bring them somewhere with no light. Not even moonlight. If this is done before rotting gets too grim, after a few hours they'll rise up, as your progeny. Being a progeny has benefits and losses. The one who turned you into a vampire will always feel the desire to protect you, and will not do harm onto you. Similarly, you will feel the same protective instinct, preventing you from harming them as well. You literally can't find it within you to hurt them. The one who turned you can get you used to being a vampire; to the life of bloodlust, avoiding the sun, whatnot. However, you will always be connected to them in a way some may not like. Their words will influence you, and greatly. While they cannot simply 'command' you, they can make you want to do things that you wouldn't ordinarily do, and could almost certainly make you do things that you would ordinarily do. You want to impress them. They're like your rolemodel, and your mind can fall under the mercy of their will. This is the benefit of owning a progeny.

                                            • Every knight has the ability to ignore pain in battle, even ignoring the pain of severed limbs for a certain amount of time.

                                            • Sunder: If using an attack and the opponent conjures up a barrier, the user may shatter the defense if it is two ranks below them. If the barrier is one rank below them, they can stagger the opponent with just sheer force, causing them to be so distracted with their next post that only one skill can be used.

                                            • Blood at Dusk: Passively blots out the sun and moon whenever combat begins. As combat progresses, darkness begins to reign from the black orb, stretching across the sky as if a visibly corrupted night was poisoning the sky. At the same time, the black orb slowly becomes stained more and more red. After five posts, the entire sky becomes an eerie black, and the bloodmoon glows a bright red in the sky. This not only cancels any annoyance caused by the sun in combat, but it allows her to project her shadow magic from the murky darkness in the sky. After the five post timer completes, a separate resource bar called the Berserk meter begins to fill itself as well. Each post in combat, attack used, and/or attack sustained adds 10 points to the bar, which has a maximum of 100, and upon filling Almira gains a temporary +1 to her potency, but loses any form of friend or foe identification. It also augments her skills used from the subclass, but only lasts for 4 posts. Afterwards, she cannot enter the berserk state for another 4 posts.

                                        Technique

                                            • The Last Shadow A
This is, by all intents and purposes, a very powerful spell. It is a spell named after a vampiric legend. There was once an order of vampires who made a deal with a powerful wizard. They became known as shadowalkers. They were named this, because in exchange for the first form of shadow magic, they suddenly and very instantly would combust upon entering any form of sunlight. Unlike their other vampiric kin, the sunlight could kill them at any time, rather than just bringing them pain. But -- some say that the sacrifice may have been worth it, for the power they obtained. They gained the greatest of the shadow abilities; the power to imbue true sentience into shadows. This ability is very simple. For nine posts, a great shadow will follow you. It can screw with people's emotions. The shadow is said to be made of blood, and this rumor comes with good reasoning. The shadow can screech and scream, with red haze filling the area around it. Of course, the shadow does nothing for the initial post other than its screeching. But, after the first one post of it simply resting behind you, the shadow will rise. And this shadow will give rise to other shadows, intelligent and cunning. They will rise around you from all sides, like a gown, and then disappear into the floor. There are eight of these, all similar to the Prowler of the Dark. They will make quick and deadly leaps from the ground and attempt to assassinate their target, before melding into the floor again. It's a very difficult ability to handle, as the ability will result in these shadows continuing to relentlessly attack the enemy for nine posts, the ability unable to be dispelled by any means.

                                            • Invocation: Propulsion [V]
A caster can fly almost as fluidly as something with wings though turning is more difficult as their control is not as potent. This needs only to be activated once for it to last until the mage turns it off. They propel flames from their limbs, using them like jets to rocket them around at high speeds.

                                            • Blade Aura A
Upon activation, several blades will come to the Vanguard's aid. Each blade of energy having it's own arm to attack with. Using this skill makes Rev completely free. With an extra 10 blades at his disposal, the amount of Rev's created per post will surely overwhelm the strongest of enemies. When swords are being normally swung, counts as a B Ranked attack per swing. Lasts for 3 posts.

A bit embarrassed, I chose to shrug my shoulders instead of telling Almira what I had actually said. I wasn't feeling too harbingery in this moment. Every ability at my grasp seemed too weak, like the maiden was having exactly zero problem destroying everything I could throw at her. I'll admit, I got a bit disheartened. "You forget me, Naëal?" I felt Cypress' tail flicker in annoyance. This time I turned bright red and stared at the space between Almira's shoulders. "You haven't exactly been too proactive today, Cy. Are you feeling up to it now?" I knew I hit a soft spot there. He hated being patronized. I had to stifle a laugh here. Opening my mouth to speak again any words that would have poured out were lost when with a mighty flap of his wings Cypress took off behind the Countess. She was doing that thing again, absorbing the energy and carving a line straight to where the maiden had taken off too. I felt a sudden draw on my power and gritted my teeth as Cypress pulled from my energy.

From his shoulders manifested two of his kind, roaring in to existence with maws wide open. They were his brethren, lost kin taken from the realm of the dead in hopes that one day they may gain their revenge. These icy blue beings of energy rippled forward and out as Almira began her flurry of conjured blows. One would snake around to the left in an attempt to tear limbs from the maiden, and the other did the same from the right. The very air itself sizzled wherever it made contact with their body. From personal experience I knew that this dark energy was necrotic, and would eat away at anything in its path. "Watch your aim!" I audibly and mentally shouted at Cypress, not wanting to accidentally clip the Countess with our attack. Wherever Almira was not, the dragons were. Should there be a lapse in her assault one would thrash against the maiden, attempting to bathe her in their necrosis. Meanwhile, I was working on a new plan. Using the same water I had before I pulled it all around, molding it in to five foot long shafts of ice with a fierce tip. This time it was empowered by me, strengthened to the point of titanium. I would control these shafts with as much precision as I could, timing their joined assault in the event that the maiden tried to break away or defended from the previous attacks.

By paying energy equal to the number of dragon souls he wishes to call on he can summon forth their wrath. These manifest in the shape of dragons, attached to his very own body. These dragons are 30 ft long and are all necrotic, just like Cypress' breath weapon. A - Rank energy summons two dragons, and an increasing 2 per rank spent. The dragons disappear upon receiving a blow that is equal to their rank.

With their attacks--and Almira herself--drawing ever closer, the maiden would...seem to grin? No sooner than the first strike seemed to make contact with her body, the maiden herself would disperse into a dense mist, flowing in four separate directions, to the corpses she'd inhabited once before, though they were a decent distance away from the protagonists by this point. Their eyes reflected that same, baleful purple glow as the maiden; truly, her conscious was alive and well in the creations before them. Congregating into groups of two, their newfound enemies would let forth an intimidating volley of attacks; two of their foes would press their palms to the ground, while two others would aim to the skies above the heroes.

At this point, a synergized attack would ensue. From above, four portals--similarly to Halcon--would open. From these portals, a volley of energy spheres would rain upon the trio with intimidating speed, each sphere no larger than the palm of their hand, but filled to the brim with the energy of the plague.

Below them, a pool of plague energy would begin to take shape. While within the pool, their movements would be slowed if they didn't escape, and they would slowly be subjected to the energy of the plague, with prolonged exposure infecting them completely. How would the duo escape this mess?

Almira cleaved the air apart with her swings, watching as the woman separated into her balls of mist and possessed her bodies, Almira puffed out her nostrils in frustration, but this was not something so incredibly hard to deal with. Her own shadowy gown, the one formed of the shadow she used on the last post, seemed to rocket down towards the ground. Now that the plagued ones were on the ground, Almira allowed her shadows to begin their raid, slashing towards the plagued ones by leaping from the ground and attempting to assassinate each one of them. Almira inhaled deeply, looking down on the skills being formed and flung. She'd finally grown tired of this game. Her maw opened wide, nigh on unhinging itself as the energy of both skills were absorbed like a vacuum suction. Her body reacted violently suddenly, almost immediately beginning to form an attack. Excuse Me was the attack she fired, returning a massive wave of bile into the bloody pool where all the spawn walkers were.

                                            • Devour A and S
Using the sin's own energy, any skill the sin can touch can be absorbed in it's entirety into the mouth of the sin and consumed, rendering them nonexistent entirely. This is a very powerful tool as it has no definitive range, drawing in any one skill to the mouth of the Sin, including defenses and the like.

                                            • Excuse Me A and S combined
This skill returns whatever Gluttony had absorbed into a massive wave of disgusting, corrosive bile. It entirely expels whatever Gluttony had eaten, regardless of size, based upon the rank of the skill used. Anything that touches this takes appropriate damage based on rank, from minor burns and discomfort at lower ranks to complete degradation and corrosion on contact like acid, or necrosis.

Honestly I was kind of getting to the point where I expected Almira to just eat up all the abilities that were shot at us. And she did. Those orbs were pulled right out of the sky, same with the rolling poison-gas along the floor. My eyes widened at how far her jaw had come undone. Gnarly. Cypress tilted one wing down to the left and swirled us around in the air, his dragon-kin thrashing at the corpses the maiden tried possessing. Both a shadow and necrotic assault from all sides. I really, reaaaaaaally wasn't sure what there was for me to do. So instead of launching my spears out I focused on harnessing every gallon of water I could possibly manage to control. I liquefied anything that was solid and prepared. This time, wherever the maiden went Cypress would ensure I didn't lose sight of her. She would have to come out of these bodies and regroup somewhere. Wherever it was she would be immediately surrounded by my water, which would already be at its highest boiling point. Hopefully this would end soon. Things were getting spooky around here and I didn't have the energy pool necessary to keep this up. Maybe Almira could just eat the maiden when she transmogrified herself in to the misty form. That would really make this simple.

                                                                              Technique

In response to the shadows, the corpses hardly faltered; their host was incapable of feeling the pain of shadows slashing at their bodies, so it was a nonfactor for her to just ignore their presence until she departed their bodies in that familiar mist; even the dragon's damage to their bodies wasn't of any real import to her. However...something was different this time. No sooner than she'd begun her ascent from the corpses, had a mist much thicker than normal started to permeate the area. It spread quickly, heading directly at Almira and Naëal. At first, it would look just like its former counterpart, though the vision obscuring effect had greatly been enhanced, as the maiden's mist wasn't particularly distinguishable from the rest of the mass.

What would set it apart, however, was the strange, glittering substance within the mist. Though it didn't seem to have an immediate purpose, it would sometimes congregate together into a larger, glittering mass before splitting apart again. During this time, the maiden herself was obscured from their vision, but traveling to the air above them, preparing what remained of her energy for a final, surprise attack. Hovering in the air about thirty feet above them, following the pace of the approaching mist, the maiden would launch a viciously powerful beam of plague energy at the pair, spanning around twenty five feet in diameter. It's power was the equivalent of an S-ranked skill, and would cause severe damage to the pair if it made impact.

As for the mist...the pair would also be given something of a clue. One of the locusts within the mist happened to come into contact with some of the particles. No sooner than the particle made contact, the nearby pieces congregated to the locust, dicing it to bits and letting the flesh erode away with a powerful, necrotic energy. The combination of skills had each been S-ranked in power...and the mist proposed a challenge to Almira; would she be able to eat the mist before what remained of it diced her to pieces, or would she respond with a skill?

The creature hadn't gotten through her attack unphased, and was now on it's last legs. As it darkened the area, Almira was unphased as the Bear before her transformed into her moon glaive and all of the shadows gathered into it. The creature's wounds were grave, stopping it from being able to form the mist faster than Almira could consume it with Devour. Her eyes followed the creature into the air, and a flick of her head north released the full npower of the very skill she had consumed at the plague maiden, erasing both attacks at once. Immediately following, she stabbed the spear towards the woman, piercing her chest with the shadows of Moonglaive, and eviscerating her body without having to move any closer to the woman. Almira was panting at that point, having spent a considerable amount of energy, and allowed the black jets keeping her aloft to cut off, sending her body into the pool of blood with a splash. She closed her eyes, allowing the mass of sustenance to rise up and form an orb around her, shrinking as if a prison threatening to crush her. At the last second, it all would be revealed to have been consumed by her, replenishing her energy and slaking her thirst finally. She looked to Naeal with a furrowed brow. The Maiden was dead, but the mist was only barely now letting up. Somewhere at the back of her mind Almira was being distracted, but she was still concerned. "Well, now you know what the surface is like..." she mused. "This is actually strange though. Ive been in this area only one time, but nothing of that sort of thing had ever existed.... and it knew me by name and title. I think we should get moving, maybe get clear of this mist before another one of those things shows up?"

The bodies below were decimated in to tiny chunks and pieces, before they began to rapidly decay in to grey piles of goo. Almira quickly reacted and stabbed the maiden until she stopped moving. Cypress lowered me to the ground and folded his wings against my back. Returning my spear to its rightful place I jogged over to the Countess and kicked the maiden with my boot. "You sure must be famous or something, then. That thing barely acknowledged my existence so its not like she has total omniscience. Right?" I could feel my friend's gears turning in his noggin. It was too soon to formulate an idea on what the actual heck was going on around here. I knew it'd take time for him to want to talk about it. For now I'd focus on not running in to another one of these freaky things. "How long do you think this thing's been here? Being totally honest if you weren't here I'm not sure what we could have done to help. I'd put all the money I have on the fact that you're the only person who can do what you do. All these people here...how are they dealing with this?" I realized I had been staring at Almira again. I was trying to figure just how the heck she managed to eat so much but still look so good. Maybe it was the heat of battle still making my blood pump much faster than usual. Seeing her fight though was kind of...inspiring. She had been in her element here. Even though I had been trained my whole life to kill I panicked. Froze. I was like a barnacle, just hanging around while this kick-a** Countess did the heavy lifting. I walked over next to her, intent on following her wherever she decided to go.

A very flustered Almira snapped back from the darkest recesses of her own mind, having dipped into something she hadn't allowed into the abyss of her thoughts in years. But that was neither here no there as she allowed the words of the girl to sink in. Oroborous returned to her, standing tall and proud, looking down at Almira who stared up into his eyes, seemingly reading what he was saying without words. His body slowly sank back into a puddle on the ground, and the blood-red spheres fell on Naeal with a shrug. "Honestly," Almira began, watching the mist slowly pulling back ground the group as if a higher power understood now they'd misread the situation. Once this place had been teaming with life, even amid the plague. Almira's thoughts were filled with the tastes of shrubbery and the hues of the trees, echos of the forest she had destroyed for power, for sustenance... for Granak. Now, the area was grey as if no life had even been there. Still, this was not something she wasn't used to, and so continued as if she wasn't ankle deep in fertile ashes. "I can only guess that someone immediately took notice of my tattoo, and became defensive. Something foul is going on here, well I guess that would be obvious." The maiden, well what was left of her, fizzled away, leaving not a trace it had existed. Even the corpses of her men were gone. The area was just... dead.

Almira brushed her dress off, allowing her spear to stay rooted in the ground before she inhaled deeply. "The creature called out to me, called me by name and title. I get the sneaking suspicion that the people of these lands aren't just sick. As for a heading, I think traveling farther inland is a dangerous bet... I don't have much interest in the elves in this sort of condition, but I did say we could explore here. Maybe we could go by Pronta and meet the angels who've taken to the throne there?" The options presented weren't ideal. I mean, the hostility they'd already faced had Almira on edge even if it didn't show. Oroborous never felt safe, actually and his attitude wasn't helping honestly. The Vampress was interested in moving north, towards Nocturne, along this little tour of the world but it appeared as though it would be a necessity just to move before her assailant decided to strike again. It was up to Naeal where, and the when was now. Almira craned her neck a little, allowing the while locks to flow free to one side in the environment free of wind, sound and life largely due to the methodology she employed in combat.

Behind the deep ruby eyes, a somewhat docile creature that Naeal would have been used to by now would be awakened and clear in her features, black veins crawling in her skin, dark tendrils playing at the corners of her eyes in general, fangs actually poking through, flanking a tongue curled over her top lip. Corners of her mouth had curled up into a bit of a grin, bringing just a bit more attention to her eyes. The shadows seemed to point towards her, falling ever so subtly from the edges of her form, from the elbows and finger tips of arms crossed under her bust. The effects of battle, and building bloodlust hadn't quite left her yet, which was so normal that the girl was barely aware of it.

Frequently she forgot just how nightmarish she truly was.

The Countess was, putting it bluntly, mesmerizing. Watching the strange veins crawling and shivering beneath her pale flesh was bringing me back to the very first time I had see Kaminae perform a ritual. The way her energy pulsated just beneath her skin, running along where her blood flows before pouring out in to her cauldron. It spoke of untold power barely contained inside something so very pretty. I liked that about her. On the outside she was so refined and confident, on the inside she was like this totally kick a** and terrifyingly powerful ability within her. All because of a tattoo? "Careful, girl. You know little of her. Do not become so enraptured by her that you cannot see her for what she is. A monster." I furrowed my eyebrows. Had I chosen to look at Cypress like that when his gravely voice first echoed in the chambers of my mind I would not be standing here. But she saved me, more than once, She fought to protect both of us. She didn't have to, and I didn't ask. You're too quick to judge, Cy. I looked hard at Almira's face, how gaunt and hungered she appeared.

I swallowed hard and held out my arm to Almira. "Cypress says vampires are leeches in life. That they'll drink and drink until everything is all dried up. I don't think you're like most of your kind. Here, I trust you." In truth my heart was hammering a mile a minute. One time I had been ordered to give my blood as an additive for a spell Lady Kaminae had been brewing. At that time I was just one of the twelve chosen. This felt so different, it felt far more intimate because this time I chose to allow it should Almira accept. It was my way of saying 'thank you'. I had no money - though I doubted she needed anymore - or any special power to bequeath her, Hopefully my friendship was enough to show my appreciation.

Regardless of whatever Almira chose to take or not take from me I was ready to go. This place was giving me the willies. All the sickness around, eating away at the world itself. This was more than some natural born plague, that much had been sure. The Countess was right, here was not the place they wanted to be. "What about all the people? Do you think its like this all the way through Kusana? What about Yuran?" I was worried. Fearful may be a better representation of it. How many would die before this murderous mist was taken care of? "It is not your problem. Leave before it is." I had a motto in life to never turn away someone who needed help. Clenching my jaw I turned away from the scene. Cypress was right. I had barely seen anything of this world, who was I to meddle in its affairs? No one.

                                                                              Not yet.

Oroborous tugged in her mind as the girl offered her arm, her words. Suddenly the danger the girl found herself in was amplified far beyond being in the plagued Kranilla, astronomical compared to that and the maiden sent after them. The tell tale signs of a vampire in a state of hunger struggled against Almira's will. In her mind the world always moved so slowly, at least compared to the other races. The way she perceived the flow of time was exaggerated due to her lineage. Her eyes fell on the arm offered, and the few seconds moved agonizingly slow, stretched even more as she battled the desire for a single taste, for just a drop would be far too much to stop Almira. The highway of plasma within her, her circulatory system, lit up, blurring the girl's features as an individual. Only lines of red pulsed in her body.

Who was this girl, really? Why should Almira care if she killed her, here and now? What would be the downside? WHen had consequences ever held Almira back from indulging her desires, such that it was now a question she had to pose herself. A thumping sound flooded her ears suddenly, once every few "seconds" from her perception of time. Almira recognized it... a heartbeat. With each hit, the Countess of Crasta Granak let the superficial wall ccome down just a bit more. Each breath Naeal took fanned a fire in the Vampress' heart. Suddenly her throat felt so dry. A pressure built in her gums, and her fangs extended to maximum length. A voice echoed in her mind... something so far away and just a bit too knowing. Do it. the voice said. Do it my child.

                                        Why the ******** not.

Almira took the girls hand, feeling the warmth of life and naivety like pressure points. THe blood in Almira's own body gave her the facsimile of life, so she would feel warm herself. She locked her eyes down as she pulled Naeal close, her other hand delicate, only fingertips, on the small space where shoulder meets neck, tracing the skin. Her lips touched the girls hand, a kiss and a dangerous bit of teasing. Her mouth opened, fangs set into her skin, just below her thumb, piercing and tearing a line down to her wrist. At last, her prize freed itself, and Almira allowed an overtly sensual tongue to lick the small line of red free. Bloodred eyes snapped open as she let her tongue, wet with thirst as oxymoronic as that is, drag along her arm following the network of her blood. She set her eyes onto the mer's, sending her own thoughts into the girl. Thoughts of submission, of Almira's sudden white hot desires. She got about halfway down the girl's forearm, reading her memories and thoughts if the girl locked eyes for even a second, before she finally pierced the girls arm with curved fangs, spilling blood along her tongue which lapped at the girl's blood.

The beast was released now, and with vampiric telepathy, the image of her tattoo, now a blood covered skull smiling with curiosity and hunger, filled Naeal's mind. This small ritual would show Naeal the truth of Almira. A monster? Probably, yes. She herself was more than responsible for corpse after corpse, and her affiliation to the Walkers of the Sanguine Isles would, too, become knowledge. Her grip tightened, lower fangs shoving through skin and muscle, almost to bone before being splashed red. Red eyes surrounded by black snapped shut as Almira felt pain at the back of her head. A shadow had snagged her hair, yanking painfully hard and causing her to dislodge, spilling a small bit of blood from the wounds, starting to close ever so slowly already from enzymes and catalysts within her own saliva. Oroborous was a helpful servant, keeping her from going too far. It looked, however, as if she had merely released of her own accord. She took a pint, no more than what is donated usually. She licked her fingers clean, looking down with a sort of apathy to the girl before speaking plainly. "Cypress is right to be skeptical," she began without moving her lips. Telepathy between a vampire and her, surviving, victims. "I am a monster. I am the Sin of Gluttony. I fought to defend you and I, yes, but make no mistake. I am all the things Cypress would have you believe. I suspect, however, that you have a connection with monsters already," she began, flooding Naeal's mind with line after line of dialouge written in Anthosii from the hands of Mer and Siren alike of the horrors Kaminae had committed, of how her dragon slew and killed scores. "Trust at your own discretion, but if I wanted to harm you, drain you dry, little would have already stopped me from going down that road." Reassuring? Probably not. True? Entirely.

She allowed the girl to continue, to ask about what she thought, and Almira began to ponder, to herself with her telepathy cut off, on how deep in she wanted to go. "It is surely all over Kenai by now. I am curious to see what has become of Kusana, the paradise of the west world such as they are." Almira turned from the girl, features finally back to normal and elegance mostly intact. Oroborous was beside himself with irritation, but he knew better than to show it beyond what Almira could pick up. It was both a fools errand, and dangerous to his health. Their relationship, when it came to his opinion, was closed off by his own volition, and as such he had become little more than a loyal too for the woman. Not like Cypress, who had become a life partner. As she walked, Chastiefol snapped to her body, locking in place on her back. She'd had her fill of this place, now off towards Kusana the pair were unless she was stopped.
