She stiffened, uncertain as to what exactly he was to be showing her; some frightening creation as though he were Dr.Frankenstein? She listened as he called two names, curious despite her many qualms at that moment - they were not exactly names that inspired all encompassing fear, no indeed, they were girls names.
'Hi?' Sati ventured, they were both pretty young women, but they were also both very different. This was what he wanted to do with her DNA? What would he make with hers? Her fingernails dug into her still folded arms, a barrier against all this..weirdness!
'..you made them? Or you changed them?' she managed, forcing her mind to work and attempt to comprehend what she was being confronted with. Was this the child he spoke of? Could she accept a child that was..different? Maybe. Maybe yes. She knew that if she had her own children and heaven forbid there was anything wrong with them that she would love them. Although made children weren't exactly the same..

The girls went silent as they stood in the background now. Amerald made his way past them both to stand in front of Sati. "I...created them. Have you ever heard of the rumors going around the different towns of Levintol? The rumors of a man bringing new life into this world? Ones that the government doesn't exactly agree with. See, Sati, as soon as you walked in here...I was interested in what a hraapea would look like if he or she came from you. Your body has such an interesting look that now I must try it." he said, smiling.
He wasn't obsessed with her, but he wished to know what exactly this woman could offer him in terms of care for his creation. He would need someone to look after him or her, and that someone was the mother, Sati. "I created these girls the same way I would create you a child, Sati. The child will love and care for you, as well as be able to protect you from the dangerous creatures that live out there in this world. They're humans, like you and I, only the two look differently by just one thing. These are hraapea, creatures that can fly. These two would protect me at any cost because I'm their father. I love and care for them like they were my own. I wish the government wasn't so stubborn, otherwise I would definitely show them to everyone. Do you understand?" he asked.
He turned to his daughters and nodded. Amelia smiled, gave a little curtsy and leapt into the back room once again. Following after her, was Annabelle slowly. The door shut and the two were alone once again. What would Sati do? Accept the invitation or run away and tell the government officials what Amerald was up to?

Sati looked at Amerald and shook her head.
'No, not at all! I teach a dance class, to mostly women and children. Their gossip and chat doesn't extend to anything like this.' she tugged on a braclet, twisting it around. But one of them had been the one who had given her this address, so maybe they did know something, just didn't want to talk about it.
She remained quiet as the two girls left, smiling faintly at the courteous little gesture Amelia had given her before leaving. So what would she do?
'If I agree, will I get in trouble for this?' she asked.

Amerald smirked a bit at the woman's question. He was unsure how to answer, for it could be that she would, but then again, she may not, so whose to know?
He just gave a slight nod. "Well, to be honest, if you were caught with this creature and didn't have a good story, you may be placed under arrest. Though, when they're young, it is much more simple to explain their weird feathers. Just say they are dressing up in costume for something, that generally tends to work. As they grow however, they will begin to have more issues. For example, their wings will grow, and always be attached. It's just best that they aren't found out whatsoever. So...the dead of night is the best time to move about the different towns." he concluded.
As long as this woman hid her kin well, she would have no troubles. Amerald wanted to open the governments eyes to the fascinating idea of this new way of child birth, but they would never understand. It was probably because of his initial secrecy that they think something else is wrong. Maybe one day the government will open their eyes to these marvelous creations. Maybe not. Only time would tell.

'Okay, I'll do it.' Sati answered, making up her mind all of a sudden. After all, she should either be married with at least two kids by now, or a doctor. If she was going to carry on being beyond the norm, then she would be foolish to turn down this kind of crazy. She was along for the ride, whereever it took her.
A hand went to a hip, and she grinned. 'If I do this, then we'll be spending more time together yes? I presume you'll want to know how your experiment is getting along?'
Besides, she thought to herself. You owe me at least dinner for this. But she didn't vocalise it and merely smiled in her most pleasant way.

Amerald's face lit up with joy and surprise. He was glad she was taking this new project on. He didn't know what to say. He was sure she would decline, but surprisingly enough, she accepted. He smiled at her comments and then went around the desk.
"Yes, I guess that means we will be seeing a lot of one another from now on." he responded, blushing a bit. He then pulled both of his hands up, pointing both fingers in the air for a moment. "I'll be right back." he said.
He opened the door with which his former creations went through and scurried to the basement. Within the confines of this room, he went to his rather large shelf and off of it, came a very green feather. One that was quite unique. It was large and beautiful, that of a quetzal. He took it to his operating desk and pulled a few strands from the stem.
Amerald then began to walk back up the stairs when he noticed a glimmer on the bottom shelf. He turned and picked it up. It was a ring. A large golden ring. He shrugged, smiled and then attached the feather to the ring as sort of an ornament.
He made his way back up the stairs and then back into the room where the woman he left had been. "Now, if you'll take this as a gift from me and give me a strand or so of hair please." he said, smiling, placing the feather and ring out for her to take. He bowed and then waited for a response.

She noticed his blushes and smiled even more. It really had not properly sunk in that she in some way was going to be recieving a child at some point; no, she was too busy angling for a way for this to result in a date. Still if she did get one it might go down better with her parents if they found out.
'Okay.' she nodded, perching on the edge of the desk again. Sati presumed that when he returned he would want a strand of her hair, and pulling the end of her braid around the front, she undid the heavy golden clip that was securing the end of it. She was running her fingers through her hair to untangle it as he came back.
'It's a feather..' she picked up both of the items, slipping the ring onto the middle finger of her left hand. It was loose and she slid it off again, putting both back down.
'Okay.' she said, sliding a hand into her hair again and pulling harder with her fingers this time. As the hand was pulled away, a hair came with it and she held it out to him.
'So, now what?'

Amerald's face grew a grin of happiness upon it. He snatched the hair and smiled. "Now we wait." he stated. He was quite excited to be able to create yet another child. It had been a few weeks since his last experiments were done.
He placed the one single hair into a wicker basket he pulled out from under the shop's desk and set the whole basket atop of it. He nodded. "Come back in a few days and your surprise will be here awaiting your arrival." he said smiling. He definitely was excited to get to work, but not before he asked her a few last questions.
"Do you have any other questions before you leave? Please, also take whatever else you wish from my shop, free of charge. I appreciate being able to experiment much more than making alchemic poultices." he finished, picking up the basket and shaking it a tad, watching the single hair move within it. Oh, the extreme happiness he felt at this very moment. He couldn't even explain.

Sati almost laughed, it was obvious to even the most casual onlooker that this was really his true calling, and that the selling of medicinal products was just an acceptable front. He acted like a child at Christmas..well, what she was told they acted like, she didn't celebrate it.
'This is plenty for today, and I don't think so?' she tapped her chin as if deep in thought and then snapped her fingers as though she were recalling something.
'Oh yes..I'd like your number Amerald.'

Amerald nodded. "Of course. My shops number is right here on the sign. Call anytime. Although, with the influx of electricity, sometimes it doesn't work, but paper and letters seem to work just as well in most cases." he said. He always appreciated a good letter. When the telephone did work, he generally kept it unplugged. Nuan, having almost no electricity, didn't allow for the old fashioned phone to work properly oftentimes.
Amerald just nodded and smiled. "Well, if there isn't anything else?" he said, creeping towards the door to his house. He was so excited to begin, he just couldn't wait. The expression of a child on Christmas was extremely dead on. He was so anxious to begin, he couldn't wait. Just like a child waiting to open their presents.

'Is that so?'
Sati would get the number as she left but it seemed that it might not be the most reliable way to get hold of him. She picked up the feather on its golden ring, and also grabbed the jar, tucking that under her arm. She'd re-secured the clip into her hair and chuckled, watching him move towards a door.
'I shall just have to come and visit you in that case. And nothing more than a proper goodbye.' she held out her hand, eyebrow arched, this time definately expecting him to at least shake it before she left.

Amerald nodded. That was all they would have to do now is wait. He would go down into his basement, do his thing, and come out within about twenty-four to forty-eight hours to a child. She was beautiful to him, majestic and mysterious. She was definitely different. He was so happy that she accepted his work and accepted the offer to create for her a child.
"Goodbye, and thank you again!" he said, grabbing her hand excitedly and without even realizing it, pulling her in for a 'bro hug' of sorts. He closed his eyes and enjoyed the sweet smell of her hair before letting go. That was probably much to inappropriate but he didn't find it so, he was happy, and she was going to be the guardian of his next creation. This was definitely exciting.

Her hand tightened on his, just as he pulled her in for a hug. Sati let out a soft noise of surprise, but she didn't scream and hit him, instead she turned her head and pressed her lips against his cheek, planting a kiss there before they parted.
'You're very welcome.' she said, over her shoulder as she was leaving. She would see him again...and if nothing else because she was getting a child, a thought that stayed with her the entire journey home.
