Okay so there's this guy. I really, really like him. Not like love, but I think I want to ask him out. He's smart, cute, funny, he's never been mean to me, he doesn't act too stupid, and he's semi-popular. I've actually had a dream where HE wanted to kiss me while we were sitting by a pool in our bathing suits.
The problem: I've never asked a guy out before, I'm nerdy and I'm picked on, I've never REALLY had a boyfriend, I have no clue how to flirt, he's known me since second grade so he knows I'm a nerd and that I've been picked on, and he's friends with people I absolutely hate and can't stand.
I really need help. Hopefully someone with more experience can help me out. PLEASE!!!

I once had this exact same problem.
Just be positive and have fun. When you talk to him, make eye contact, smile, and be playful [that's pretty much what flirting is all about]. Just joke around and be yourself.
Ask him questions about himself. Casually add him on Facebook or some other social networking site and maybe exchange numbers. Then one day, suggest that you guys hang out.
Get to know him and open yourself up and have fun. Try not to be too obvious at first, be a good friend. Don't get discouraged if he's with someone else at the time, stay on his good side and one day he might just decide he wants to take things further.
As for his friends that you don't like, just ignore them. But if they're harassing you really bad, you might want to tell somebody...

Aww! That's cute that he's really your first crush. He seems as though he has good qualities, as you described.
But one thing: you said his friends are people you cannot stand. Unfortunately, a guy will listen to a lot of what his friends have to say. You have to be careful with that if you're sure this will work. You have to get over what they say and dont let it get to you.
If you think it will work, I say go for it. Just be careful.
