Vali's hand slid instinctively around Gabriel's shoulders when the younger spawn moved to hug him before moved over to climb atop of Fifth's shoulders, "Well thank you for warming it a bit s...Fifth." he said and he took a breath before just jumping in.
He let the luke warm water cover over his head a moment before he stood up allowing his head to once again be above the water. He gave a small shudder at the temperature before his body adjusted to it. And moving into the deeper water his hand on the edge of the pool helped to adjusted him quicker. His legs had to kick often and harder to keep his head above the water as he waded in deeper. "I do not think I will be able to float at all...And I am sure Gabriel will not be that much of a distraction. I am glad that you allowed him to come." It is nice to feel wanted from time to time, he added to himself.
When he started to get the kicking down Vali allowed his hand to fall from the edge of the pool and move to help his other arm keep him with his head out of the water. Though luckily enough for Gabriel the water did not stick or blur Vali's reflective skin. In fact it made him all the more reflective. "The hands move slower than the legs when you tred water right Fifth?"

"'S my job," Fifth replied a bit distractedly as Gabriel seemed to try whatever he could to make this hard, including trying to hang on with his hands over the man's eyes and latching onto his ears. Finally, he managed to adjust the boy, arms over his head and Gabriel holding tightly to two of his fingers, grinning as Fifth waded into slightly deeper water. Fifth smiled slightly at Vali's comment.
"Yeah, I was worrying that you might have a bit of a problem with that. I suppose it'll just take a bit more work to keep yourself out of the water. If you start to sink, I'll pull you back up, no problem," he assured the boy with a soft smile. Fifth's wings lowered themselves deeper into the water as he ducked down with Gabriel, making the pride boy squeal as he was soon neck-deep in the pool. The man came up looking damp and refreshed and smiled a bit at his son's amusement. "'Course. He likes you a lot, I'm sure he would have thrown a fit if I had told him he wasn't allowed to come."
"Yup, I would'a!" the boy replied with a grin from on top of Fifth's shoulders. Fifth nodded at what he was asked about.
"Yep. Usually the arms will move slower and be used more for moving around than just staying in one place, and your legs will keep you above the water. Like the steering wheel on a rear-wheel drive car. Does that make sense?" he explained, giving Vali a chance to get the hang of wading before he was going to have the boy try anything else, especially if he was at risk of sinking.

Vali's head snapped up as he heard the squeal of Gabriel and he sank a bit before he started to kick harder bringing him back up. Feeling how hard he was having to work Vali was very grateful that he was learning to swim. He would hate to be in a boat and it sinking and not being able to swim. He shivered at the thought of just sinking to his death.
He looked a bit confused, "Are you sure you would be able to pull me up and keep Gabriel up too? I am pretty heavy Fifth." His lips curved into a smile about the fit comment, "Well I would hope that you would not throw a fit just to see me Gabriel. I will always be willing to come and see you, more so since it makes you happy. I like you too." he said as his face grew confused again. "Um...I don't know much about cars. Dooma does not drive. She is...um...old school? She does not own a car, or tv, or a computer. We do have a radio and she was going to buy me a computer I think, for school purposes." He looked down a the water as his body seemed to get used to what force he would need to keep up and he relaxed a bit, "She isn't a bad guardian though."

"Eh, I think I'd be alright. I mean, it'd be difficult, I'm sure, but I think that I could manage it if necessary," Fifth replied confidently, not hesitating to flex the muscles of his arms cockily. At the explanation and following defense of his guardian, Fifth chuckled softly, giving the boy an easy smile. "Don't worry, Vali, you're among friends; Gabriel, Damien, and I don't have the means to keep tons of fancy pieces of technology lying around our own house.
"Though that does mean that I need to think of another way to explain it... Eh, it's not too complicated a process. In any basic kind of swimming, you steer your body with your arms, while propelling yourself forward by kicking your legs; nothing terribly complicated, right? To be honest, I don't know enough real strokes to teach you anything but the basics, but I can at least do that..." the gryphon explained as Gabriel watched curiously from his head, playing with the man's now sopping-wet mane.
