REVIEW _____________________________________________________ This is easily the best racing game for people who want to tune for aerodynamics and engine performance. Unlike other racing games, if you hit a wall going 150mph in this, your car is gone for good unless you have a total repair marker. Light damage and Heavy damage will affect your car's performance, so watch out for those walls! You start out with only basic cars, with minimal tuning available, but at the higher tiers, such as Super Promotion, the cars get much faster, and Race Day rewards get better. You can either just win a Race Day and choose one reward at random, or Dominate it by winning every race and have two rewards to choose. dominating is much harder than just winning, as the competition heats up, and racers get more aggressive. Be careful when tuning, as you can destroy your car's performance when not done right. I ended up with a practically useless Ford Mustang GT when I didn't set the engine tuning right. The race modes are all specific, and when you buy a car, it can only be used for one type of race, such as Grip (Circuit), Drift, Drag, and Speed. Grip is basically a straight up race to the finish, driving whatever you bring to the event. Drift racing is a bit more technical. You have to be able to control a car in a slide around long, gentle curves, or even tight hairpin turns. Drag racing is just that - Drag, getting the best times on the 1/4 or 1/2 mile. In with Drag racing is a wheelie competition, where competitors try to get the longest wheelie on the 1/4 mile track. Speed racing is all about speed, and controlling a car going upwards of 200mph without crashing. The realism can throw off many gamers, as in Speed racing, a small bump on the road can send you sliding, and then flipping, totaling your car. Drag racing on some tracks is the same, if you hit a bump, and you can't correct for it, your car is toast, so don't be afraid to let off the gas if things get a bit hairy. Customizing a car's appearance is pretty fun. You can apply vinyls of teams, sponsors, and aftermarket companies. Paint is customizable, with everything from matte to iridescent, and can be applied to the entire car, or just specific parts such as the front bumper or spoiler. Window tint can be applied, and ranges from light to pearl, with color customization. Rims can be painted as well. Race seat can be installed into the car, as well as a roll cage that is painted to match the exterior paint of the car. All in all, Need For Speed Prostreet is a very in depth game covering racing at the street level. With everything from classic muscle cars to exotics and imports, the choice of your car and it's appearance and performance is nearly limitless.
