Holding the A button down hard makes me think I'm trying to keep it shut with my hands.

btw what if you tried to use another Pokeball? It'd be 2x harder for the Pokemon to escape... twisted

If catching gets frustrating (usually against legendary ones) I press Up+A at the same time before it hits the Pokemon and hold it until it is caught, kind of silly lol.
