Sept. 14 2010
Yesterday I wrote my first article for my school news paper. I'm not on staff yet, but I can be if I keep at it. I couldn't get my research until yesterday because the place I was doing my story on, a laundry, wasn't open until Monday. I didn't get anywhere near enough information and when I wrote it the editor totally ripped it arpart and more of the senetences in it are hers then mine.

This is why I love writing. I did an awful job but I'm going to keep at it becasue I'm determined to get better. Lets me honest, I have no natural talent for writing, I had so many disadvanges, even my father tried to pursade me from it, but I loved it, the challenge, and I kept at it, and I'm a Hell of a lot better now.

As a novelist (I've written a novel so I can claim the title blaugh ) I usually use fancy words and medaphores. But in journalism you can't do that. Quick and to the point. Say excaltly what you mean. This is a new skill I'm going to need to hone.

Ooo well done on getting something through to the school newspaper. Is the person who ripped your work apart a student like yourself?
That is a lesson I have learnt with the type of language. I've written so many editorials and crap, I'm so blunt and to the point it's unreal. Luckily I can seperate that from my general story writing.
I wish I had the balls to call myself a novelist but for the moment I'm just a mere writer hoping to get somewhere hahaha!

Well I never said I was a good novelist, but a novelist nonetheless.

Yes she was a student. The paper is completly student from. It has four issues a week (Tuesday thur Friday) and is unquie in that sense since most schools only publish once a week. They are very hard working and very cool. She was actually really nice about it. She kept telling me how she totally messed up like I did when she wrote her first article. She was very understanding.

She also told me that she's learned more in her two years at the paper than she's learned anywhere else (I thinks he's a Journalism major). I can't wait for my next story so I can do a better job and show her how much I've improved. mrgreen

Oh goodness, I was in a journalism class last year and I'm so happy to be out of it now.
The class itself was okay- we had a cool teacher and there was only three of us, and since we couldn't make a school newspaper, our stuff was printed in local papers which was much more exciting.
But journalism just isn't my thing. I don't like interviewing people, and journalistic writing is very boring.
However, its sounds like you've got a positive attitude about the whole thing which is great. So, have a good time.

Had Biology this morning and then right after it I typed up my notes. Look at me, Miss lil'good college student. blaugh I did that for about an hour, and then decided I really need a creative release. So then I tried writing. I got a few hundred words done on Purges, and I at least looked at my other two stories (nothing came). I really have another fanfic idea redface and that's taking up all my of creativity.

I' debating just editing and posting the first half of Purges (it's a two parter) and then getting to the rest of Purges and it's spin-off, the Young and the Forceless at a later date.

But one of thing things I don't like about fanfics it the lack of satification I feel. I enjoy writing fanfiction for the Hell of it, but I also crave that feeling I get when I finish, or hit a milestone in one of my original projects.

Another thing I've been craving lately: Batman comics. I haven't been able to read them since HTMLComics was shut down (since I'm still about 10 years behind). I just want to get to No Man's Land already and get through it! And then the next ten years, lol. Since it's a comic and has hart that would probably help with my creativity problem. I think college is draining me. I have no time anymore.

Okay, I have class in about fourty minuets, which may seem like a lot of time, but I need to put my computer away and lock it up, get my books together and then walk all the way to top of campus (I live in Gaum!)

Oh, and I get my new news story tomorrow. So that should be fun!

Hey, fellow college students and/or members who just have no time to write. How do you find time to write?

I got my second story today: Cedric Jennings. For summer reading we had to read Cedric Jenning's biography, A Hope in the Unseen, by Ron Suskind. He's comming next week to speak to us. Yeah, I read about 100 pages of the 400 page book. But I took the assignment because I had to go anyway for my URI 101 class, since I could make any of the other alternative assignments for the class because of scheuling conflicts. Acutally, I can't make a lot of my required events for that class because of marching and concert band. xp

Anyway, I've decided I'm going to do a lot better on this assignment than I did on the last one. So should I interview Mr. Jennings one-on-one? And the people who go there? Perhaps I should give the editor a call. stressed

Well it'll all be worth it once I get on staff. Then I'll have to write two stories a week, but at least I'd be getting a pay check. Lets cross our fingers for me that they choose me. smile

Gah! It's been so long since I've posted. College is hard and I have no time to write. It's actually very sad. Somehow, though, I've found time to watch 4 and a half seasons of Buffy and half a season of Angel. Why do I mentions this. Guess who is venturing on new territory in fanfiction?

The answer is me...

My absolute favorite couple in the show is Oz and Willow. I've always had much love for Seth Green and I am so in love with his character Oz. Oh, and Willow's just so cute. Put her and Kaylee from Firefly in a room together, make them both cry, and there will be mass fan suicides.

I just wrote a sad fanfic where Willow dies and Oz is forced to deal the pain. All I need to do is edit and it'll be on fanfiction.net. Next I'm going to start a Oz and Willow fluff. I've never been much for fluff, but the characters in Buffy are just perfect for it. A little Xander and Cordelia or Xander and Anya or Buffy and Angel fluff would be perfect. Also I think I want to write a story about how Giles feels post Jenny's death. Get into some real emotional stuff.

I think while I'm in college I should be concentrating on fanfics and short stories. Novels and even novellas take too much time. A little writing here and there will be for the best. Maybe I'll write my second novel after college.

So I've almost decided on journalism as my major. I've been working for the paper and loving it. I've had three articles published already and two of them were in on the front page (...out of 8, but it was like the first articles, so ha!). They are going to be voting on staff this month. I really hope they select me.

So that's it for now. Hopefully I'll do a little more writing than usual, but meh! I'm starting to get into the swing of things. Maybe if I watched a little less Buffy, and studied a little more I would even find time for writing...Buffy fics...damn I have a problem.

You'll be better able to tackle your projects once you get into the swing of college life. You're a freshman, right? Take the time to get used to the switch--it's a big change. And at least you're still keeping up with your writing. That's the hardest part.

I'm not feeling the fanfiction inspiration anymore, which mean I just had about the shortest fanfiction binge ever. Three days! And I'm very proud of this, I hate fanfiction. It's such a guilty pleasure. razz

I'm going to try to focus all my intention short stories (and my articles). It's just I have a hard time finding idea. I guess I need to go prompt surfing. Meh!

Damn I haven't posted in forever. And yes, I haven't been doing nearly as much writing as I should be. But that should all change in a few days. I am doing NaNoWriMo. biggrin ...again.

I know it's going to be a challenge. I'm in college, it's hard to take this on with when I already have 12 credits (I had to drop a class because of illness) newspaper, pep band, marching band, and KKY (the fraternity I'm rushing). Oh, and I've been sick for a month, which sucks!

But I'm going to do this. I'm going to write everyday and write a 50,000 word novel. Actually I have this whole yearly plan. It's in my notebook that I forgot at home, but my dad is going to bring it tome tomorrow and then I'll post it. Also I'm thinking about starting a writing blog. biggrin

So yeah, I'm very excited. If I follow my plan I will have 4 original novels completed (one edited from last year, 3 written this year) and 1 novel left in the editing process by the end of the year. Plus I'll have worked on a few fanfics. biggrin

I'm really excited. But I've got class on the other side of campus in 40 minuets, and it's raining, so I'm going to get ready for class and then start my long hike. Hope to update soon.
