Valore chuckled. "Yes, well..."

He stopped short. "I do believe we're in for a treat, though," he said slowly. "Not only are we going to watch the stars, but it seems as though we've come at just the right time to watch the sun set..."

He gazed at the rapidly descending sun, settling himself at a comfortable distance next to Meadow. "Care to do the honors of counting down?" he asked.

"Sunset... there's nothing quite like a sunset.... I'd love to do the countdown." Meadow said, watching the colors of the sky as they changed with the position of the sun.

Finally, the sun got to the point where it was feasible for a countdown. Meadow began the count. "10...9...8..." she continued through them, the sun sinking lower and lower, "3...2...1...Twilight." she said. The sky was a lovely color, the evening star was shining bright as other stars would soon make their appearance. It was quite the sight, and Meadow was glad she had taken the time to go out into this field today. First the four leaf clover, and then meeting Valore, a dragon who seemed to be one of the few that she didn't mind being around. This was definitely a good day for her.

Valore heaved a great sigh. "I always love a good sunset," he said dreamily, "But then again, I also love to have such pleasant company." He turned a lazy smile to Meadow. "If only I could have both every day, instead of when someone finds a four leaf clover..."

He paused, thinking. "Wait," he murmured. "When someone finds a four-leaf clover, shouldn't that mean good luck for the one that finds it? I mean," he shifted slightly to move a little closer to Meadow, "I think I got pretty lucky, finding you all the way out here...Tonight...At this time...In this place..."

And there it was, he had said more than he wanted to, as he inevitably did anytime he opened his mouth. He hastily looked away from her, suddenly focused on finding another four-leaf clover. Maybe it would give him good enough luck to avoid further conversation...

"Yeah, same here..." she said softly.

As he talked of luck and four-leaf clovers, a small smile on her face appeared, and grew, and grew. It was a sincere smile, one that was liking where the conversation was going. "You think you were lucky? I think it was I who was lucky.... to be here, sitting and not actively seeking a person or a place. And I still found you. Or, rather, you still found me. At this time, and place.... perhaps it was fate mixed with luck."

"So my fate was dragged in by your luck, huh? I can see who wears the pants in this relationship of ours already," he said with a wink.

He chuckled softly. He didn't often talk like this...Though he rather enjoyed it. Tossing jokes back and forth, teasing here and there...Was she teasing? He couldn't tell. He was always a bit oblivious to these sort of things.

"So which constellations do you know?" he asked conversationally.

"Something like that..." she said, grinning again.

"Oh, I know the easy ones. Orion, Cassiopeia, Ursa Major and Minor, Draco...." she said. Of course she knew Draco, though. It was the dragon constellation. There were plenty of humans and other animals among the stars, but Draco was the dragon of the sky.

Valore smiled genuinely, he always loved pointing out constellations. "Well, there's Cancer, the crab constellation...And Ophiucus, the Holder of Serpents...And Aquarius and Pisces..."

He stopped and stared at the sky for a few moments. He looked back down at Meadow, laying next to him, head raised to the stars, then back up to the stars, then back to Meadow. He couldn't decide which view he liked better...

He shook his head almost imperceptibly, trying to clear his thoughts. He always got a bit fuzzy the later he stayed up at night. He didn't want to make a fool of himself, or rush into anything, or ruin a potentially fulfilling and refreshing friendship on day one.

"Ahhh, the zodiac constellations..." Meadow said softly. She knew the zodiac, just not exactly where they were.

She didn't notice Valore looking at her. She was looking at the stars, thinking of the constellations and their stories. Her thoughts began to drift, however.

Valore.... he was obviously someone she was going to know for a long time. They just seemed to click, more than Meadow did with her mum. They would at least become close friends, if not more....

Wait. What had she just thought? Was she developing feelings for this dragon she had just met today? Pah. It would take some time to analyze this. She decided that if anything along those lines happened, she wouldn't try stop it.

Valore had never felt this way before. He couldn't find anything else to say, but he was perfectly content to sit beside Meadow and just be with her. His mind began to blur again, he couldn't tell why he felt so tired all of a sudden...

He slipped into a dream, a dream where he was bolder than he was now. He moved closer to Meadow in the dream so that he could feel the warmth of her body next to his, maneuvered his head to rest next to hers...

With a start Valore jerked his eyes wide open. It was a dream, he thought. Just a- But his thoughts stopped instantly as he felt the rhythmic breathing of Meadow on his side. He was frozen in horror. Did he really just do that? On the plus side he wasn't drowsy in the slightest anymore. The downside, though, was that he might have just made their entire friendship way too awkward to continue.

All this ran through his head in the millisecond he realized it wasn't a dream. He scooted away from Meadow so that there was a slightly bigger gap between them than there was before. "Sorry," he muttered almost inaudibly.

Meadow noticed Valore moving closer to her, and he rested his head next to hers!

...Yeah, definitely not stopping any of that happening. She liked how close they were.

When he scooted away, she followed and scooted next to him. "It's fine... I kind of like this, actually..." she admitted, hoping that it wouldn't make things awkward.

Valore was stunned. "Y-You're sure?" And even before he finished his sentence he was kicking himself mentally. He had never stuttered much before, why was he stuttering now? And when did he eat caterpillars? His stomach was positively crawling with butterflies!

Valore wanted desperately to say something, anything, but at the same time he didn't want to break the silence. He thought that if he so much as coughed, the moment would be gone and so would Meadow; that was too much for him to bear.

But his mind was simply aching, he had to ask: "So can I see you tomorrow, too?" he asked lamely.

"Of course," she smiled, though she wasn't sure if he could see it in the dark.

"Yes... when and where?" she asked.

Valore's mind raced. Where could they be together where they wouldn't be interrupted? He raced through all the possible places, but all of them were at least sparsely populated. He didn't know if he could handle someone coughing, or belching, or anything else to ruin a possible moment with Meadow.

"I...I don't know..." he said. "I mean, I can't really think of any place we can be alone..."

Valore froze in horror once again. At the rate he was going, he would have enough adrenaline to last him for weeks. "Wait, I mean...I didn't..." He hung his head and got up to go. "Sorry, maybe I should go..."
