Ok, I wrote this tonight after about 2 months of writers block.

The Thespian

He takes the stage wearing his mask
He says his lines, he plays his part
Silently wondering will no one ask
What he holds within his heart?
The only time he can truly be him
Is after the show when the lights dim

He leaves the stage to be alone
And to momentarily feel free
Will no one ever atone
For breaking one such as he?
He looks in the mirror and thinks
"Who's that?" as his heart sinks

Another night, another show
Wanting to flee, but nowhere to go
His charade must continue
Even as he changes his venue
His mask is widely known
On his face, it now feels sewn
He hates the accursed thing
But for safety, to it he must cling

Two entries, mostly because I wasn't sure which one sucked the least I wanted to enter.

Crush

“There is a fine balance,”
she said, “of satellites and planets,”
and he believed
because he never thought
to question the words
that burned in her eyes
and flowed like smoke
from her mouth,
and if her truth cut
him like the knife blade
edge of her smile,
he’d bleed for her
if it meant his blood
might mean something
more than salt and bitterness
in the end.

“Sometimes I’m the moon,”
she said, “sometimes the sun,”
and he knew that she was far
away though she scorched
him with her skin
and feverish touch,
her searching
lips like ice on his,
her face close enough
that he could see
the slivered moons shining
in her eyes,
and he wondered how
he could ever catch
hold of that
insubstantial light.

“It‘s all about the gravity,”
she said, “so don’t get too close,”
and he wasn’t sure now
if she was the sun
or the moon,
but when she laid her head
on his chest, she crushed
his ribs with the weight
of her certainties,
and he struggled to breathe
in a world where the tides rose
and boiled according
to her whims
and the solar flares
and lunar pulls that slithered
beneath her flesh.

“I never meant to hurt you,”
she said, “but we can’t escape physics,”
and he knew
that it was an excuse
but one that was heavy
with truth,
so he let her fall
back into orbit and icy distance
and mourned the loss
of her gravity
and its devastating weight,
and he found himself wishing
that his pull was as strong
as hers, that he could crush
her with a passing glance,
but he was only human.

Acid Rain

Her world is a constant shifting
of paradigms and peach laden skies
heavy with logic’s acid rain,
but she loves the burn, the stripping
and peeling of flesh from bone
because emotion is soft,
and she prefers the cold aching
smoothness of human intellect.

He wishes he could understand
but knows that he will have to settle
for the bitter half truths
she creates in the indigo darkness
of her mind until they spill
from her mouth and eyes, drip
down her face like tears,
and he can taste the acid in the air.

Sometimes he weeps with her
even though her tears aren’t real.

He doesn’t know why she keeps
him close when she hates the brush
of skin on skin, the shock
of him in her bones,
and he doesn’t know why
he stays when her promises are glitter
explosions in the sky, brilliant,
blinding, then forgotten
in the rainy days to come.

Sometimes he looks for the echoes
of reflections in the puddles left behind,
but all he finds is silt and mud, slivered
blades that cut, and sometimes
he can hear his years breathing,
whispering about time better spent
with three already gone, eaten
by the rain and the hollow
expanse of her gaze.

Still he stands with her beneath
the sky, and lets the downpour burn
until they are the same in a world
of peach laden skies and acid rain.

see shells

gazing across her satin flesh,
an ocean of sandstone
as soft as the wind's crashing whisper
i watch my goddess,
my deep and hollow master,
smile the smile that pales the moon
and charms the wings from the butterfly flutter
Her luscious parting gash
of crimson
beneath the see-shells of her eyes

twin caverns of expectant Void pierce
my throat,
my heart,
my liver.

in Her liquid grace
of a cold molten heart
She reaches out to my
small and ugly self,
twining me in her vacant embrace

distantly a heart pounds steady,
a patient knock
on the walled doors of
Oak
Ash
and Thorn

we dance our familiar dance as old lovers,
silent and still.
ever crafty and coy,
she lets me pretend she's leading
as i am
silent and still.
barely an echo of a knock to intrude

impossibly soft
is the din of Her soundless whispers.
like the cascading wash of Her raven-streaked tresses,
they envelope my small and yielding form,
the tiny force that lays in openness

grasping not the dim, crisp straws
that lie at my fingertips,
but thrusting my fragile porcelain doll's hands
into the crushing grasp whose fingers
probe and glide seamlessly into the crevices

my mouth opens in a soundless noise,
not quite a gasp,
too much for a sigh,
and Her lips meet mine in a crimson parting.

Her thick tongue fills my subvocal moan with
her Void
as moist as all my unshed pain.
Her Empty penetrating to the depths of me,
to our shared wetness,
staring back with open eyes
ascending into the depths
of Her breathless divine embrace

because her dark see-shells mirror my own

it watched her from the shadows with its many glossy eyes
dark and moist are those rolling orbs that come in every size
it watched her with no hunger for the sweet flesh of her thighs,
it lusted for her screams and her helpless strangled cries
it clicked its claws and flexed its jaws, dreaming her demise

it watched her dress and licked its drool in the shadow by the wall.
it smirked its laugher flashing teeth so many sharp and small:
lurking silent, no one sees- nobody at all
it crept along the shadows that hugged the darkened wall
its gangly limbs, long and thin gave it a spiders crawl

the time to act was so soon, and it tickled like an itch
it licked its lips and twitched its claws with tiny little clicks
she glanced to where she heard a noise, a crunch that made her sick
but only shadows lay there still, heavy, dark and thick
nothing there, and yet her mouth was as dry as sticks

without a sound the darkness lunged and took her to the floor
she screamed and struggled, reaching for the far too distant door
her legs were caught and ravaged into pulpy lumpy gore
it gurgled hollow laughter as it stripped her to the core.
its wet mouths gnashing, lashing, thrashing, with teeth and claws and more

when her weakened whimpers died away the thing removed her head
it cracked open just like egg but the white ran scarlet red
it danced and splashed amid the ruin, then threw it on the bed
her blood and brains combined with tears and on the sheets were wed
in the spattered stains and random marks, an epitaph for the dead

it licked its yellowed claws and teeth, rows and rows and rows
it licked its face, and jaws and claws, and did it oh so slow
savoring each memory of flesh torn like sticky dough
grinning widely it made its way to the shadows hanging low
out to look for other prey, where I do not know

New poem:

-Hollow-

I miss the sound of your voice
Bringing feeling when I was numb
Fate has presented me a choice
It seems our time could possibly come
Do you love me, or do you not?
I need to know before I rot

You shake me up, make me feel alive
Thoughts of you give me my drive
Without you, my life would be nothing
But right now my sanity is abating
I need you more than I'll say
You are my greatest getaway
You give me strength when I feel weak
But my outlook on life is bleak

Was I wrong, or was I right?
I'm trembling, my face soaked with tears
My breaking point is near in sight
Will you soothe or confirm my fears?
Will you stay or go?
Tell me, I need to know

Old:

-Loveless-

Love, the sweetest poison of life
Can bring about both pleasure and pain
Through all the chaos and strife
One can learn to live again
The wreckage of one's heart brought to light
No one ever will make things right

A person's words, whether truth or lies
Can hold much power over another
Another day, another fool dies
All because they trusted their lover
Hope is gone, replaced by hate
Of self, of company of late

Memories, though substance they lack
Often times hurt while they heal
They help you recall and take you back
To a time when you knew how to feel
Cope as you like, but take to heart
That causing pain, some believe, is art

Through pain and torment I have become numb
A true monster I have become
My life eventually I shall lose
It will join my heart, sanity, and muse

-Hotaru-

A light amidst a sea of black
Shines and shows me where to go
A form physical it lacks
The light is from the firefly, I know
Not a real one, those grow old
The firefly is from my soul

Though small and fragile
I know it's strong
Just watch for a while
It won't take long
You'll see what I see
And know what it means to me

Hope can be easily found
Only with my firefly around
Through the night, through the dark
At once, every cruel remark
Returns to nothing in my eyes
Under the night's firefly-lit sky

-Meaning-

At last, my eyes can see
Through the dark and pain
What you once said to me
Won't ever be in vain
Your message comes clear as day
I won't let it ever get away

Time passes and memories fade
But important things remain
They often come back without aid
And flow like the falling rain
I'll continue to walk the way
As your guidance brightens my day

Seasons pass, time goes on
But I'll always carry with me your "song"
I'll make my stand at last
My old ways left in the past
I changed myself to something new
And all I have to thank is you
Although I was once toward darkness leaning
Finally, my life has real meaning

-Goodbye For Good-

So here we go one more time
You came back like always
With no reason, with no rhyme
We've both seen better days
We were once a loving pair
Then the fighting started
We live to cause the other despair
I think it's time I departed

I need you to look and see
I want it all to be over
The whole thing is pointless to me
Soon I won't be able to face the day sober
I'm tired of the futility
Sick of all your harsh lies
Everyone can plainly see
It's time our "love" dies

Starting out on a new day
I'm strong enough to walk away
I wish I never loved you
But now I know what to do
Your fake tears won't phase me
Sayonara, baby

-Halls-

Today I walked the same hall
I never used to question why
But now I feel like a doll,
A puppet in my own eye
A door slams, echoes surround me
Eternally, I wish to be free

To avoid complications
I had no choices
Restricted in conversations
Only to hear their voices
I felt shackled, chained, and bound
Never once my displeasure did I sound

I swear now, with my own mind
I shall never be of their kind
Seizing control at all cost
Causes the controlled to be lost
The path to the future is set
The past, we shall never forget
Cruelty caused by another
Shall scar us forever
