Today was the day. It was finally Monday and now Musubi was on his way to the chosen meeting place where he would bring his father Gennosuke to meet with his desired mate Sho, and that said kuniku's father Masao. Musubi had been so nervous to remind Gennosuke the morning before that his legs were shaking, but then he'd felt like an idiot when he'd been told that his father would meet him at the koi pond instead of going there with him at the same time. It was going to drive him crazy at this rate, that things weren't going as smoothly as he'd initially planned. With heart hammering in his chest at a thousand beats a minute Musubi rounded a corner, his head lowered and tail trailing behind him as he moved with the flow of the crowded streets of Maizoukin. He didn't have to use much thought to know where he was going; his feet would take him there even though he wasn't paying too much attention to his surroundings.
Why couldn't things just have been more simple? If only Sho had been born inside the city... or maybe he should have been raised to be allowed to associate with the 'wild' kuniku instead. Musubi emitted a sigh, pretty bummed at how the day was starting. It couldn't possibly get any worse, could it..? He shook his head, trying to calm himself down. If he kept up those kind of thoughts, then things definitely wouldn't get any better.
Attempting to lift his own spirits Musubi stopped walking and thoroughly shook his fur. His posture straightened and he quickened his pace, hoping that at least if he moved more quickly he could probably get to Sho before Gennosuke and could maybe get a pep talk or something to help ease his mind from just how serious this proposal business was. Musubi forced a smile onto his face as he trotted down a street, making a few more turns around some shop stalls. His purple eyes searched for landmarks on the map in his mind, and Musubi knew he was almost there when the smell of pickled plums caught his nose. 'I'll be there soon, Sho.' He thought to himself as he crossed the dirt path that would take him to the koi pond.
For now, things seemed to be going well. From his current line of sight, there was no sign of Gennosuke, and inwardly he was happy to know that he'd at least beaten his father to the destination. As Musubi passed through the small gate that heralded his arrival, he realized that something was amiss... His eyes widened in pure shock. Oh no, oh no, oh no. Where was Sho?! He wasn't here, and neither was the Masao that he'd been so excited to meet! "He's totally late!"

Gennosuke was no fool. Nor was he blind or so busy that he could not notice what his son was up to. The city was his domain; he made sure that everyone in it reported to him, thus he knew very well that Musubi spent as much time out of it then in it; though even he had been slightly surprised when his youngest son had requested this meeting. He padded his way down the street, ever the stately creature, people moving around rather than he having to skirt through them. He belonged to the city; to the plays, the people and the bustle that was life here. Gennosuke considered himself cultured; far more so than any of the fools living outside the city could ever be.
When his children had been born he had taken it upon himself to make sure his offspring grew up right. He was not here to be their friend, but to be a firm mentor in life. But ever since Musubi had rolled from his egg it had been clear he was different. Gentler, sweeter and more inquisitive than a city Kuniku should be. At every turn he failed to live up Gennosuke’s expectations and so the male had simply been harder on his kind son, far more than the others. Yet it had failed. Gennosuke knew his son was hurt from the disapproval that radiated from his own father, but he had thought that given time Musubi would give up his ventures outside and be like he should.
It wasn’t going to be like that. Gennosuke stopped in place and let out a long, heavy sigh. No, he had failed. He could sense it through to his bones. The exact nature of this meeting was unknown to him, but it wasn’t too hard to figure out. Gennosuke had done what he had done out of love; could he give up his son now, knowing he had already sacrificed any kind of good relationship with him?
He continued forward again and soon the koi pond appeared before him. His gaze quickly located his son, the younger male looking somewhat lost. Gennosuke cast around for somebody else but saw nobody. A brief flair of anger rose in his belly. Was some foolish, uncultured Kuniku letting his son down? This was exactly what he had sought to protect Musubi from. Well, good riddance.
His emotions were quickly set back into place as Gennosuke moved smoothly down a small wooden step and entered the koi pond through the gate, his imposing presence immediate. “Well?” He gave a haughty questioning glance at his son and took a seat by the water, body rigid as he curled his tail around.
