Apparently I was brute forcing my way through with my Starter. My final two pokes are still in their 30s.
My team is
Team Loquita
Typhlosion F "Hoshiko" 54
Azumarill F "Mary" 42
Eevee M "Vendetta" 33
Togetic M "Toga" 49
Dragonair F "Dragonette" 35
Gyarados M "Gyashaa" 49
And my rival is Mr.Lady xd
I've been playing, trying to accomplish things I couldn't back in the day, and have come to realize that I prefer some of the old school battle animations over the current ones. Certain effects have been dropped from the series, and I miss them.

I remember brute forcing my way through games with Starters.
Like In Ruby, being at the 5th gym, and having a level 7 Poochyena, but a level 50 Blaziken.

I had one game once where I brute forced my way through with a Blastoise, and the rest of my team were all lowbies who could learn HMs early on.

Yeh...
Thats usualy what I do too...
Grind one poke until its lv 70+ while the rest of your team are hm slave pidgeys and mankeys, then take on the elite four using a few revives (usualy no more then 4)

I remember my Lv 100 Blastoise in Red;
Could kick the crap out of (almost) anything.
Problem?
My only other high-leveled Pokémon was Mewtwo...

I'd love to be able to look at my old Crystal game.
The poor thing died though. xD It no longer saves. I don't even remember the last team I had on it. =/
Mr. Lady. xD I don't even remember what I named my rival!

I have that saving problem with my gold game and my pokemon crystal game doesn't work anymore.
