I've been to Canada (Montreal) for a French trip..
I did an exchange to Germany for 3 weeks, lived with a family (and my host sister lived with me previously). I really wish it were more! I'd always wanted to learn German, so finally, a YEAR LATER, I'm starting sweatdrop I fell in love with the language and country. I don't care what people say about German sounding ugly, I think it sounds awesome.

My first big trip was to Germany - I was 19 and went to attend language courses and to finally see the country whose language I'd spent four years learning. I spent most of this spring in Spain as a study-abroad student (to learn the language) and took a quick trip to Morocco while I was at it (I was very thankful for what remains of my French!).
I'm about to go to Northern Ireland for an Anthropology course (and to visit a friend) and I feel really lazy - going abroad, planning to speak English!? It'll be a first in that regard.
I love to travel and hope to do lots more of it in the future. I'm really torn about some aspects of that, though. There are several countries I'd like to visit that're unstable, and some whose governments are not so great on human rights - do I really want to give money to those governments through visas or state-run tourist programs just to see someplace interesting to me?
Another sticking point is that I really, really loved being in Germany and want to go back. I could imagine going back every year and never getting sick of it, but it'd be hard to do that and see much of the rest of the world.

Cultural, biological, physical, archaeological, linguistic?

It's cultural anthropology. We'll be focusing on Celtic history and culture most of the time, but there's also a segment on "the Troubles" that should be really cool. I leave tomorrow morning - I'm simultaneously really excited and starting to worry because I haven't begun to pack yet and my flight is really, really early!

I've only ever left the US once, and it was for a family trip to Ireland. By the end, I could recognize a few words on signs in Irish (which came in handy at one point, because one sign was lacking the English translation). It was only a week-long trip though, so I didn't get to do much more than that.
I haven't even been to Canada yet. *sigh*

The times i was out of my home country, america. Let's see i went to the philipines to visit relatives, but i was very young like six years old so i just stayed with my mother the whole time and let her do all the talking because I don't know how to speak tagalog. I also traveled to London several years ago so i was able to understand what they were talking about since english is my native language.I just couldn't pull off the british accent lol.

Ukryu I've been to Canada once but I was really young so I can't really remember it... And the only time besides that that I was out of state was to go to a family reunion a couple states over... I'd really like to travel, no, I'm desperate to travel, but my parents don't want to or something. D: I really envy you guys that travel a lot. Whoa, that's almost exactly like my problem Dx Only differences are that I've been out of my home state (Maryland) lots, and the only reason my parents wouldn't take me out of the country is because I had two baby sisters... of course they're grown up now, so we'll see what goes down. ninja I'm up for traveling anywhere, but I really want to go to Germany, Spain, and some Latin American countries (:

In the North there's a lady stunning and singular.
I went to London this May and I had been extremely worried about my language skills. Would I be able to understand native speakers? Would THEY be able to understand ME, 'cause this might have been much more difficult XD No problems occured, I spoke with many Londoners and visitors and had a lot of fun. This was the best proactise I've ever had and a great experience for a future translator or a teacher ;P
I wish I could go there mant times more in the future, as well as finally visit my dream Ireland and Scotland. Thanks to my trips, I know there's no barrier of language anymore. God dammit, I'm so proud of myself XD
One look confounds a city a touch dooms an empire.
