A heartbeat, a step blindly made in a direction that she could not see. She shivered as her steps lightly touched the ground, the wings that flitted lightly kept her for the most part aloft, except for instances where solidity was a good thing. Pale hands reached out to feel around her as she chose her steps in confidence. For Lalania was blind. These walks among the trees in the quietest, calmest hour did wonders for her soul.

Her fingers brushed a trunk, and she let out a soft breath in happiness, "Finally... I found my trail." She murmured, her hand brushing the rough outline of a circle carved into the tree. Her steps grew more confident as she continued forward.

The smell of dew and life were strong in his nose as Nòtt took in a deep breath, the sound of the wood all around him. This was the best time of the night, the end, the very earliest morning, that he had come to love. Some days, he simply sat back and enjoyed the sounds of the occasional owl's hoot and the lone rodent's scamper. Some days, he put names to all he heard. And some days, like today, he was rewarded for his vigilance. Soft steps, bare feet, not unconfident but still slightly unsteady, were approaching him through the woods. Though it would not pass by the tree HE was laid up in, it would be most troubling if he didn't at least take a peek as to who was walking. This was no time for a stroll, and there was not a light to be had to avoid stubbing one's toes or barking one's shins on the outcrops of root and stone. Nòtt would at least lend a helping hand if it was needed, and if not, then he would just keep the fellow traveller company. Midnight was no time to be without companionship on the long winding road.

Gathering up his robes, Nòtt fell from the tree, tail trailing and whipping behind him, lithe as a cat in the utter dark. Landing on the three limbs that were not holding his clothes, he straightened and let the cloth fall again, various charms and trinkets glowing softly of their own inner light. Wasting no time, he started forward, stepping softly so as to not frighten the one he was trailing.

Frei yawned as he made his way through the forest. He blended in perfectly with his surroundings aside from the little white wish ghost that swung back and forth from his horns. He couldn't sleep in the slightest, and found himself instead, out for a walk. It may have been an odd time to be out, but it didn't matter to him. He would still be awake enough, come morning, to run his little shop; where he sold the same sort of dolls he was wearing. Each one stitched neatly and with love, with a wish of some sort; ready for purchase by a hopeful individual who might need a little extra luck that day.

In the distance he could hear something. Faint, footsteps; two individuals. He wondered who else might be out at this hour. He made his way along, trying not to trip over roots and fallen branches when he came across an entrancing sight; a woman of pale white was making her way slowly through the forest. "I wonder.....who is she....."

The other individual he could not yet see. But as he was transfixed at the moment, it didn't occur to him to be weary of his other surroundings. He merely stared at Lala with intrigue.

'Shi' purred quietly in her little hideaway, holed up for the moment in a dark deep hollow beneath a rotted tree. A faint chilling grin set across her face as she enjoyed a private game of cards with herself. Listening peacefully for the moment to the crunch and chirp of crickets, meshing with all those other deep noises from above. Shi rarely slept at night, much preferring the deep darkness to any point during the day time.. Less critters to run across in the darkness, more chances of startling the daylights out of those she did.

Her head cocking to the side, pressing an ear against the bark as the lightest of scrapings came through from overhead. Running her tongue over pursed lips as she chanced climbing to the entrance of her home, peeking out from under gnarled roots into the dark foliage above. The faintest glimmers of shadows...a flash of white...

"Mnnn..something for me to play with tonight?" She whispered softly to herself, fingers grasping her stray whip and gathering it up to her side. Yes, for sure she would enjoy herself on this particular night.

Lalania was all too aware of others around her. but of course, this was not a private area. Many made their ways along this path, but at the moment, it was hers. Since she had came to be, her heart had felt a longing for the clouds above, yet there, there it would lonely. She had met few who had wings like herself, or even the ability to fly. She sighed half-heartedly, a hand straying up to push away snowy-colored hair.

Her ears pricked up ever-so-slightly as she stepped upon a twig, causing an echo to travel across the logs and grass. Of course, the darkness impeded upon most people's traveling. But she had no problem. Though she could not see the world around her, her hearing was well enough to pick up the faint whispers of will-o-whisps.

"...Whispers faintly of the witch's spell, cast a pallor upon us all...the curse of living life all alone..." She laughed happily, a soft tinkling sound, as she recited words from a book she had heard someone reading to the young ones. Of course it sounded morbid to most, but to her it was full of possibility.

She stumbled over a root she had not noticed, and sighed minutely. "Pay attention!" She growled to herself, her eyes opening momentarily, a glow of silver shining from the emptiness of her sightless eyes.

Nòtt had been ready to catch her the second she had stumbled, but it was the silvery glaze of the white one's eyes that got him moving. He would not sit passively by as a blind woman made her way through the darkened woods. It didn't matter that she had been doing fine, there was no telling what sort of nasty things lurked the night. Even as he broke the clearing that the woman stood in, recovering and whispering soft chastisements to herself, he saw the first. Small, no more than a child, by the look of it, but blue as the southern seas and... it had a toy dangling from its horns. No threat. Innocent. But the one he heard stir under the stump, the eyes he saw flash out from the hollow, the whisper of ill intent for the woman, that one, he had his doubts about.

Seconds, seconds flew by, and time had always played a crucial role in encounters such as these. This in mind, he made his first move, stepping into the knoll for all to see, and he spoke. "Forgive me for saying this, if you would," he began, bemused, "But it is rather late for a blind one and a child to be walking on their own, especially in the woods. All sorts of unsavory characters lurk in the dark, and it would do one well to be wary..." At this, he cast a glance down at the hollow where the third one hid, keeping close watch on the actions of it.

There was a moment of true hesitation as she turned toward the voice, unsure. the voice was kind, though full of the masculine superiority. A slow smile crept upon her face, small and gently like a fawn's. "This blind woman knows more than you think," She murmured, her hair falling forward in a glowing silver stream upon her face. "This is not the first time I have ventured the pathways here." She said with a slow nod.

Her wings folded against her back, her hands clasped in front of her in a pose of refinement and gentleness. "But perhaps you are right to hinder one who is not able to see. That is why you stopped me, is it not, sir?" She murmured.

Her head tilted to one side, and another, the bangles upon her arms chinking like small bells. "But... The quiet of this hour draws me. I am not confused by the sounds..." She smiled brilliantly, happily, at the prospect of silence.

The radiant smile that met his hail, one that nearly lit up the woods around them, more than made up for the not-unjustly defensive statement. "Nor do I expect it to be, my lady," he replied, a smile creeping into his eyes as he looked away from the stump he had been observing for a moment, "But can you blame me for wanting to reach out to one who has stumbled, to catch her and help her to her feet? I can see that you are more than confident on your own two legs, but that doesn't make my urge to assist one who travels the night as I do not any less real. And," he added, the grin now reaching his lips, too, even though she was oblivious to it, "Whether or not I'm 'hindering' you is really a matter of perspective, is it not?"

Her final words hung in the air, even after his own response, and Nòtt continued, "It is not as quiet as you would think, my lady. The night is not silent, one need only listen close enough, and you will hear that the world is very much full of tiny sound and vibrant life. Even your own garments add to it, the symphony of this night."

Frei watched as the other appeared from the shadows. Apparently the woman in white, could not see. He immediately felt a sort of pity toward her. But her laughter and smile, made him want to smile. She had a sort of confidence about her. When Frei was addressed as a child, he felt his cheeks burn with a blush so radiant it could have lit up the night. "I-I was just taking a walk, I couldn't sleep," he explained, as he made his way over toward the others. He hadn't even noticed a fourth party watching; one more devious than the other two, and himself.

He waltzed his way over to the others, closer; he felt safe for some reason near them. They seemed trustworthy too. "My name is Frei. Is everything alright here," he questioned, fluttering his little white wings every so often, almost like a restless dragonfly. "Who are all of you?"

Hevn's feathered hair shook gently as he stepped from branch to branch, following two constellations. He thought he had seen others, but the two constellations were loud; he had heard them through the forest, as he rested in the canopy of a tree. He longed to be back where he belonged; at times, he wasn't sure where that was. Midnight, as he followed the white constellation and the dark one down the path, was one of those times. One of his few marked abilities, Hevn stepped from branch to branch silently. It almost seemed as though he was weightless, but his steps were sure and unaffected by the breezes which swept past. He narrowed his eyes, watching the two constellations with more concentration. The white one recited something which, to Hevn, sounded a little ridiculous. He couldn't help but snort. It was a recitation, he knew, because she wasn't as well-spoken except for in that sentence.

Perhaps the reason he had begun following the white constellation was her wings. Hevn brushed a hand through his feathered hair instinctively, thinking of it. Unlike him, though, she was a nearly glowing white figure in the night. His feathers were ashen, tainted. They even itched a little sometimes. How could she wander through these woods alone? She did not seem like much of a fighter, and she certainly stood out. Hevn would follow for a little longer, and either leave them be, or make his presence known. He wondered about the dark one. What were his intentions? Hevn had learned to mistrust the pair of them evenly, not personally, but he knew better than to place particular trust in a being because they looked innocent.

Mostly, Hevn wondered where they were going, and how much time he could distract himself for by following them. A blue Twilif with long black hair approached the pair, before Hevn could make up his mind. Hevn watched carefully. Why were they gathering in the night? Was there significance to their meeting?

Shi bit back a snicker as the 'Fair maiden' tripped and stumbled over the root, a slightly clumsy move, and yet still quite entertaining. Of course it reflected none of the mischief she wished to cause, simple trippings and tricks were of lesser creatures. Will-o-wisps and wayward kettle newts, them and all their ilk.. If nothing else it was nice to gain a bit of insight into things, to better see the great winged maiden. Clothed in all her soft whites, and brilliant feathers. Truly disgusting indeed, and here she was traipsing about during the midnight hour, like all this darkness and all these woods were her lovers.

Shi sat and waited, watching on through the little gaps, resisting the urge to gag and roll her eyes as the solo maiden turned into a duo pair. The male chatting it up like any knight in shining armor would, and of course the duo had to become a trio! Add one beautiful twilif with ghost dolls into the mix and you had a party going on.

Salving her itching desire to leap out and bark at the three for being oh so genuine and courteous to each other. For taking so long in exchanging pleasantries. Chewing on her thumb nail gently while she tried oh so hard not to eaves drop, biding her time had never been so...annoying before..
