No, I can't stand her work. I have serious emotional and artistic issues with Fushigi Yuugi, and I find most of her works to be similar enough to shy away from all of them.
If there is one that doesn't involve extreme angst, lots of death, etc, please let me know and I'm willing to give it a chance.

Kane_Blueriver I really love Imadoki, i have 4 volumes of it smile Hai, I totally agree "Imadoki" is really cute! I finally finished it! It is sappy as Yuu Watase's works are seeming to be as of late, or it's just me, but they're great and I love them!

I remember being one of the few people in a "Watase vs. Takahashi" thread that thought Takahashi's art was better.. and damn, the woman's character designs are good, but she recycles the same ones over and over again. That just seems lazy to me. And I don't understand Absolute Boyfriend's popularity. The newest story is about dragging the girl off to a tropical island to have sex with a robot. WTF? Sounds like the "plot" of some cheap porn movie, not a shoujo manga..

In general, I dislike Yuu. Her stories tend to take themselves far too seriously and her heroines I often find are very weak willed beings. Yeah, they tend to EVENTUALLY get to some bareable level of ability but only when repeatedly hit over the head with the concept that if they don't everybody's going to die.
Hated Fushigi Yugi especially after that episode which had Miaka and Tamahome repeating one another's name for what seemed like half a fricking episode. I could only barely stand Imadoki because at least the female lead had some semblance of a spine though that appeared to whittle away the longer she was exposed to the stupidity that tends to be Watase's bishie lead.

I personally can't stand her work, both as a matter of personal taste and as someone who has a pretty good grasp of writing.
I feel she's a good artist, and should just stick to that.

Ehhh. Artistically, I believe she's lacking too. It's too easy to get away with technically unstable art in shoujo. If its shiny, people will eat it up, and I think manga companies know that. Look at Fruits Basket. >O
I agree with the Anti-Yuus. Her storylines suck, her characters suck, her art sucks, and her writing sucks. I DID enjoy Imadoki, but, thankfully, that was only 5 volumes. Any longer and it would've ended up sucking royally as well.
Has anyone read Alice the 19th? I didn't even touch that because I was so irritated with how the main character looked SO much like Sakura from CCS. D:
