I have a pretty good plot in mind and I've been dying to have a chance to slap it down on paper. ^^ I was thinking of a story in which the main character is half Shade. Now the Shades are the kind of things in Greek Myth, almost like ghosts in a way. So anyways, he winds up discovering that he can do things he shouldn't be able to do (I have to research Greek Mythology for what exactly shades CAN do, or end up having to use my Age Of Mythology game for info. o.o) and he has to keep it a secret. But, his sister discovers said secret and goes off to tell everybody. Meanwhile, he is working to find out what he can do to put his newfound abilities to use. As he finally gets an idea, his sister and some townspeople arrive. Some are scared, some angry, and others curious. He asks why they are all gathering around him, and one man explains that they think he is a demon, and is causing the town bad misfortune. So he gets chased out of town and goes off to find a shelter for the upcoming Winter blizzards of his area. Along the way he meets his long lost mother, who he finds is a Shade. They chat for a while, go to bed and wake up the next morning to eat breakfast. At breakfast, she says that she must train him as a Shade in order to combat the coming threat to the country, (Again, it's Ancient Greece based. xD) an invasion of countless beasts of Myth, such as the minotaur, chimera, hydra, and et cetera... In the end, they will attempt to awaken the Titans and destroy the world. He has to go on a quest and find the Three Items; The Club Of Hercules, The Bridle Of Pegasus, and The Shield Of Athena. With these ancient items, he would be able to fight the army and stop the Titans.
xD So what do you think? I know it's kinda corny and it may have been done already (Though I don't think so...) but it's all I got. Improvements and Critique are well needed. xD
It's eitrher that or some 'awesome' story about sparkling, veggie vampires and weird werewolves that popped into my mind. That's never been done before, has it? XD dramallama

Tympest wickedphoenix93 Hi there. I didn't see a "Join" button on the main page so I sort of just jumped right in. XD Anyway, I have a story in progress right now that's similar to Jekyll and Hyde (one of my absolute favorites) -- a theatre student does a project on method acting where she creates a whole different persona, aces the project, then can't stop from switching between her true self and the character she created. It turns into schizophrenia and she eventually kills herself... My friends don't think I should kill her off just so there could be room for a sequel, but I don't really see anywhere else it could go after that... and it just seemed fitting if she spiraled so far out of control like that. I just reworked most of the finer points of the plot recently so I'm leaving it rest for awhile, and in the meantime I'd love to come up with a story that revolves around mermaids. I love vampires as much as the next person, but they seem... overdone (understatement?) in today's literature. Werewolves are alright, I hate zombies, and there's a fair amount of faerie books out there too... haven't seen anything new on mermaids lately, and I've been a fan of Little Mermaid since I was 2 lol so I figured why not? Now to come up with a decent plot though... -headdesk- plots are my main weakness ha. So, just to check, for this you'd be working on the mermaid story. The other one would be pretty well against the rules. Yes'm. Mermaid story in progress. I was actually researching last night and came up with bringing two legends together by using both mermaids and selkies. Something along the line of, a selkie from Iceland runs away from home as she's leaving her human husband and decides to desert her selkie husband as well because she feels like she failed him and wasn't faithful -- and she gets pretty close to the British Isles and meets a mermaid. That's all I got worked out last night... not sure where to go. Maybe the mermaid will have a merman husband and the selkie steals him away too? Not sure. I'm thinking I want this one to be something of a series though, so at the end perhaps her selkie husband has come along searching for her. We'll see what happens.

Also, looking over it, it kinda seems like that show, Danny Phantom on Nick Toons.... o.o

I stopped after I heard Dawn's catchphrase on Pokemon Diamond And Pearl... o.o Now I just need a good character name... I already have the plot down, but his name... I don't want it to be cliche` but it can't be too weird and unusual...

Darkamaru gotcha. ^^ How about half-nymph instead? I think a number of mythological heroes had nymphs for mothers, but I think that most of those were also demi-gods. It's something you'll have to look up and make decisions on for yourself. I haven't had much chance to look at Greek mythology in depth in a while.

And how close to the original mythology are you staying here, best I remember selkie stories tend to be tragedies.

I'm gonna do my best (at least in the first draft) to stick pretty close to the original mythology; I haven't read a selkie story before so I wouldn't want readers to get confused by twisting things around on them. We'll see where it goes.
