DNA Parents:
Child's Name: Saruna Child's Gender: Female Child's Appearance:
Child's Personality: Taking more after her dad, Saruna is a the more silent type who likes to spend more time with her dragon and mastering her powers of their abilities than actually spending time with others. Usually avoid crowds because of the odd stares she gets because of her blood red eyes and crystal white wings. Prompt: Saruna looked upon her father in distaste as he carried her mother through the air as she followed solemnly behind them.
“This is so unfair.” She muttered under her breath but the wind carried it to her father’s ears.
“I heard that young lady and this is so not ‘unfair.’” He stopped and looked over his shoulder. “After what you pulled the other day, this is now just fair but just.”
“Your father’s right Saruna.” She could just image her mother’s face. “That was a very bad thing you did. Your father and I were very worried.”
“But mom…”
“Don’t you ‘but mother’ me, Saruna.” Her mother admonished.
“I like to go up there and practice using my powers.” Saruna pulled a face. “I have to master them sometime and I like being with Moon more than people. Besides, this kid’s party we’re going to is nothing but a pompous little brat.”
As if sensing Saruna’s emotions, a tiny white dragon poked its head out of her clothes. Saruna lifted a lithe hand and patted the tiny dragons head.
“Isn’t that right Moon?” A small happy chirp was her answer as the female dragon nuzzled her cheek.
“We under stand that Saruna but some of the more dangerous elements have to be done under supervision until you get them down pat or you could very well end up blowing herself up next time instead of just part of the house.” Her father stated.
“So much like your father.” Her mother mumbled. “Listen darling. I understand completely but for today, do you think you could just put the experimenting on hold, just for an hour. For me?” Her mother cocked her head to look at Saruna with a pleading puppy dog face.
“That look so doesn’t suit you and I hate when you do that.” She harrumphed out a sigh. “All right already. I’ll try to hold it off but sometimes I just can’t help it and you know that as well as I do that sometimes it just happens.”
“We know but just try.” Her mother whined.
The rest of the trip was made in silence as Saruna got lost in her thoughts. Sometimes her mother just got on her nerves. She didn’t understand what it was like having no control over powers that could very well end up hurting someone. Its not that she wanted that but, well…she was still learning and sometimes things got just a little out of control besides when ever they went places all people do is stare because of her eyes and her wings. The eyes are a recessive gene and she hasn’t learned how to keep her wings in yet.
As they landed on the ground, multiple friends of mother and father surrounded them, of course, keeping their distance from me, and ushered us toward the tables that were placed outside.
“I’m so happy that you were able to come.” A woman voiced as she seated us.
“Wouldn’t miss it. It’s not everyday that your young ones come into their own especially rare if it happens on the actually birth date. You know, seeing as that some of them never come into their powers.” My father stated.
“Yes. We’re just so happy that his finally showed up. We have high hopes for our son. He’s going to be a very good handler on his powers.” The statement was mostly directed at me and I could feel the malice dripping from it as surely as anything.
“Yes. Well…I certainly hope so.” My mother pushed through pursed lips. She’d heard it too.
“Do relax and someone will be around with drinks.” She walked off.
“Saruna.”
“Yes mother.”
“Why don’t you go and talk to the birthday boy? Offer him your congratulations.” My mother was mad. Her tone said it all.
“Yes mother.” She wasn’t going to argue, not with her mom in the state.
As she walked away she heard her father, trying desperately to calm my mothers issuing rage.
“Now dearest…I thought it was just supposed to be Saruna trying to control herself.” Her father joked.
One thing I learned in the years growing up, never p*** off a witch. Not if you wanted to live and especially not a Level 5 one with enough power to severally kill everyone here. She looked to the sky as dark clouds started coagulating and rolling through the sky.
I found the boy in questioned when I brought my attention back to the ground. He was standing right in front of me.
“Are you the witch’s daughter?” His high, haughty tone didn’t sit well with me.
“What’s it to you?” I snipped.
“If you wouldn’t mind running to tell her that if happens to ruin my party with rain, I will have to send your freakish mother along with your ‘abnormal’ father,” the disgust in his voice was clear, “along with you, their half-breed daughter away.” He dusted off a corner of his jacket with his pristine white gloves batting at piece of fuzz that had stuck to his coat and decided that it didn’t want to move.
Red and black flashed before her eyes. Insults to her, one matter easily solved. They didn’t bother her. Insults to her family, another matter entirely and he was in major trouble.
She forced a smile. “You have fuzz on your coat. Let me get that for you.” She stated as she called forth her powers, shooting blue energy at him, one actually nicked him in the shoulder as she played cat and mouse until she finally knocked him a good one which rendered him unconscious. As the black veil of hatred drew back, she surveyed the damage she’d done. Her parents stood and looked toward her as they smiled and shot her two thumbs up. She realized that one of them had been ready to crack to and go ballistic on them as well.
Saruna looked around again and her gaze fell back to her parents.
“Oops.”
