When it comes to a movie, they will most likely go with Bioware's Canon version of the story. Or they might not even use Shepard, and go more the route of the novels, where Shepard is mentioned, but they never say his/her sex, etc.

It would be interesting to see a movie, no doubt if they used shepard they would go with there poster boy. Really with Mass Effect ending with the third instalment it really needs more to it. Mass Effect could be the next final fantasy or Tales of game where the universe can be the same but a new hero could arise.

In the end it would be interesting if Mass Effect went further but like the Halo movie I don't see it comming about just yet.

I don't like the idea of moviemakers making a carbon copy of the videogame in movie form. The games are so cinematic on their own that it's pretty pointless to make a movie version of them, especially if they're hoping to entertain the fans who already know what happens.

If they did make a movie out of Mass Effect, I'd want them to go into a different direction with it, like in the novels.

Oh, and I swear to god, they had better not kill off Kaidan. mad mad

Seriously.....it would break my heart if they did crying

If they were to make a movie, they most likely would because the Shep will unfortunately be male, and thus would most likely get with Ash.

but ashley is a testosterone-fueled racist bigot! crying

also, I agree with the whole seth-green-as-joker thing.

I really hope that they make the movie a side story to the games - with a different cast of characters and a different but related storyline. (Perhaps they could make a movie about the First Contact War?) Otherwise, fans will be put off because the game translated into a movie won't be just like their experience. When you play a story-heavy RPG like Mass Effect, you really come to think of it as your own story, and watching someone else's version of it doesn't have quite the same thrill.

Moreover, video game movies are notoriously awful, and I think that's partly due to their being chained to the stories and characters of said games. What works in a game doesn't necessarily work in a movie.

So, I think the best way this could turn out would be for the movie to be part of the Mass Effect IP, but not based directly on the games.

...y'know, maybe this isn't what we all think it is. What if we're finally going to get to see "Fleet and Flotilla"? xd

You know, not gonna lie. I got rather excited when they announced that they were going to eventually make a Mass Effect movie. But then after a moment of thought, I frowned. You can't really make a movie based on a game that has different events and relationships depending on who's got the controller in their hands, and make it a good one. Though I seriously doubt Casey is truly that dense. I'm sure they're going to come up with a spin off, like everyone suspects. Much like what they did with the Dragon Age comics. Anyway, game spinoffs work, Silent Hill for instance. In my opinion, it was a good, not great, movie. Despite the silly cameo of Pyramid Head and the nurses among other things, but hey! It was good regardless. It would be really interesting to see new characters in a new setting simply because it will broaden the Mass Effect universe and make it much more interesting. As much as I would love to see Garrus, Tali, Wrex, Thane and Legion on the big screen, I don’t want to be disappointed. Because look what they did with Halo Legends -cringe shudder- talk about character rape and murder! I can’t bare to see another one of my favorite video game characters get bent over like that.

LMAO! Omg, Sam Worthington as John Shepard. I would love to see that, because that man is beautiful. But it would be better if they just hired Mark Vanderloo and taught him to act really well and…well a girl can dream can’t she? Oh gawd, Jack Bauer as Garrus. That makes me lol, I’m gonna go ahead and say no, though. Brandon Keener has the voice of a god, Garrus will most likely be a 3D character anyway. Stick with original voice actors plz D:!

And I think Zaeed would get heaping mound of fan girls if they cast Gerard Butler to play him. Because it’s true and you all know it. And those are my thoughts on GI’s casting list.

But, like I said, I doubt this will be about our familiar characters. I hope anyway.

or they could do Shakespeare with elcors?

Haha nice one. I laughed when I heard them advertising Shakespeare with Elcor in the background xd

What made it funnier was that it took me a moment to realize that it was funny at the time.

I'll probably see it on release day and post about how much it sucked sad . I am really hoping I'll be wrong, though!

Honestly, I just don't look forward to all the people making a huge deal and going
"SEE! SEE! Canon Shepard is male, because he was in the movie".

I already hear that way too much with the default Shep...Of course if the movie was cast with Femshep the very same people would probably be like "There is no Canon, bioware said so." biggrin

I'd rather see some based around The First Contact War, and all that jazz.

I was seriously about the post that before I saw this!
Anyway, that would be epic. But I believe in the game they said Elcor Hamlet was 17 hours long...

I think Mass Effect is better off as a TV series than a movie. Same with Halo. But we'll see.

The Esper Terra
Halo turned into sector 8...
But it is still on the "to do" list...
Max Payne = best damn movie out of a game ever?
The game already was made in such a way that the story was told as a movie...
And Mark Whalberg...
Mark Whalberg...**drools**

From what it looked like in the trailer alone, it doesn't look like Max Payne at all. I mean, I've only played the first game and haven't finished yet. So I don't know if it turned to another Constantine.

Balvyne
There was Doom as well while we're talking about movies based on games, I thought it was an awesome movie at the time especially the bit before the ending. I watched it again some years later with some friends and everybody seemed bored, and well it 'did' seem to take forever to get to any of the good stuff the second time around. Not to mention it lacked some of the really hardcore Doom enemies and such.

Doom as an action movie was good. But as a "Doom" movie, it wasn't. The demons from the game turned into freaks with extra chromosomes in the movie. wtf is that? I was expecting humans vs hell and the monsters would appear from their demonic portals throwing fireballs at them. Instead, I get a bunch of mutated freaks.......

I was disappointed in that.

It'll be interesting to see.
They could either follow the general role of Shepard or go off in a completely different direction.
I haven't read that much into it to be honest. But I wish they'd go with FemShep if they were going to have a Shep. In the Bioware forums I've seen so many eligible female actors that would be perfect. But the chances of Shep being female are low, so :/
