Oh, I totally thought synthetic was likeee...those fake diamonds you buy in The Bay for like 50 bucks.
But anyways, I still probably wouldn't love it. I kinda want my engagement ring to...not be 50 dollars. And be great quality (which obviously you cant find for 50 dollars). It's the same principle as fake purses I guess. You can buy super cheap ones for like 20 bucks, but they are horrible horrible dreadful things. You can buy fake chanel purses for 300 bucks, and they are pretty decent. Then of course there's the 3000 dollar ones which cannot be beat - because they are authentic, made with proper care and materials, and are detailed down the last thread.

That analogy doesn't make sense because it's synthetic diamonds that are meticulously crafted, down to, like, the last molecule.

I'll never understand why a woman would mind a synthetic diamond since it is molecularilly (pretend thats a word) the same exact thing. The only difference is the location of origination.
However. If I were going to be happily married (which is a bit of a stretch) then I would be more than willing to pay for a organic diamond if that's what she wanted.

Nah, I'm not talking about like the "diamonds" cut from glass or anything like that. Those are fake diamonds, not synthetic ones. Synthetic means man-made, not fake. You know the only reason diamonds are super expensive is because De Beers runs this kind of super monopoly over the diamond trade, restricting the mining and sale of it, as well as pursuing this huge advertising campaign about how important and 'rare' diamonds are. The whole diamond ring for life, for marriage thing is made up by De Beers like in the 1940s. Prior to that, people didn't generally have diamond rings. The actual worth of a diamond is nowhere near the thousands you pay for a ring. Furthermore, your analogy doesn't work. It's more like you have two designer French purses, identical to the last molecule, same design, same materials. The only difference is that one is from France, and one was made in the US. The French one may be considered more authentic because it's from a French designer, but the US one might be more 'perfect' because it doesn't have scuff marks or something from transporting the French bag. That's the difference between real and synthetic diamonds.

but reading the difference between synthetic and real, i'll go with synthetic.

It doesn't matter, as long as the design of the actual ring is super ******** amazing and elegant and gorgeous then I'm happy.
The type of diamond is up to him, as long as it's not fake, just synthetic or real.

So long as it's real and it looks pretty, I don't care. To be honest, I'd rather have an amethyst engagement ring. Amethysts are my favorite stone by far.

I really don't care at all, since it's virtually the same.
My only concern is having a real white gold band, because if it isn't, my finger will turn black. Which would not be cool.
I'd even prefer like, a regular old band than any diamonds.
Idk. I don't care. As long as we have rings for each other, it doesn't matter.

I think an emerald would be awesome, because emeralds are actually far more precious than diamonds.
Emeralds are formed DEEP in the earth's crush where there is a lot of seismic activity and it is a softer stone than diamond (7.5 on the mohs scale.) so carat for carat, a flawless emerald with good color is worth hell of a lot more than a flawless, colorless diamond, which is the hardest substance on the mohs hardness scale.

My boyfriend's mom had an emerald ring, and so did one of my elementary school teachers. They looked ridiculously pretty.
So I gave it some thoughts (about 4 seconds) and I think I would wear my ring on a necklace too. And just a solid metal band would be pretty. Some silver-colored metal that won't rust or tarnish and I'm all good.
But I dun wanna acquire a marriage, so...
